We’re for Sydney | Daily Telegraph

The same woman told a court she comforted the “distraught” Mrs Dawson because the teenage girl who moved into their family home wanted “to get rid of me”.

Elva McBay gave evidence before Dawson’s committal hearing in Sydney via audiovisual link on Tuesday. He has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife.

Mrs McBay visited Chris and Lynette after they moved to Bayview on multiple occasions, particularly for birthdays.

It was at one of these parties where Mrs McBay saw Mrs Dawson “distraught”, crying and trembling, in the kitchen of the home.

“She said ‘I had the most dreadful row with (the teenage girl) this morning, she said she wants to get rid of me’,” Mrs McBay told the court.

“I said ‘oh Lyn, you can’t be hurt like this. You should get her out of the house before she causes any more trouble’.”

Mrs Dawson said her own mother gave her similar advice.

About six months later, in January 1982, Mrs Dawson disappeared from Bayview and was never seen again.

The court also heard Mrs McBay, some years ago, was sent a photograph by one of the Dawson twins which showed a woman who had appeared on the Antiques Roadshow television program.

“I thought it looked very, very much like Lyn,” she told the court.

Mrs McBay described Dawson as a devoted husband.

“Chris was very quiet, very placid, easy going, good fun,” she said.

“I never saw him bad tempered, never saw him angry.”

Mrs McBay’s only criticism of Dawson’s character was that he “not aggressive enough” on the footy field.
Is she trying to shift blame and even suspicion from CD to Joanne?

I think she was unavailable on Tuesday. Not that she is totally unavailable.

Awh, I see. Here in the Great White North, we don't get to say that we are unavailable. ;)

What I cannot decipher, is how a 'psychic' doesn't know she won't be 'available'!.. of all people, psychics should be able to 'read the signs' and map out their days and hours with impunity, not like us poor sods who manage on trust and hope.

It is hard to imagine, in the 21st century , a psychic being actually called as a witness, which is, in any world, giving validity to nonsense. This trial is rapidly descending into crazy, what next?

My increasing feeling is Hedley's podcast might end up being a serious impediment to the prosecution achieving a guilty verdict against Chris Dawson. Yet the irony is, without the podcast I'm certain Dawson would never have been arrested. Let alone a case against him reach a court room.

I'm wondering if she sought legal advice at the last moment. She'd want to be very careful what she said or risk accusations of perjury. Lawyer needed time to prepare her.

You'd think that one of her colleagues would know her, or the hospital or college of nurses would have a record of her employment, but there doesn't seem to be any substantiating evidence. I don't think this is a credible witness.

I think it's possibly a vehicle for the defense calling into question the thoroughness of Hedley Thomas. If we can produce these alleged witness accounts, why didn't you.

Nice.!!! And this, my stalwart Lynette backers, is where the rubber hits the road , because if the only alibi Dawson was relying on was the two spurious sightings , neither of which had a skerrick of empirical evidence or compellingly true observations, then this up coming trial will have all the bells and whistles I have come to expect from the current NSW prosecutor, who has an awful lot of ground and public approval to make up in regards to this murder.

And there goes the money Chris clawed onto all his life. How much cheaper it would have been to divvy it up with Lynn, particularly since her father coughed up $10,000 , a big whack of money for those days, he never paid it back, nothing was allocated to Lynn's estate. Not even her own clothing.

And the solicitor Brother, Paul.. well.. he will be either madly shredding documents, or madly searching for unincriminating, absolving paper, because I bet he'll be hauled up on the stand, and one of them will have to crack. One brother, maybe two, maybe a sister in law is going to pull this whole savage sordid dirty little story to bits.

When this is over, he is going to be a poor old pensioner, and most likely, I sincerely hope so, and believe so, an imprisoned one. Where he will die. No legal aid, of course, he may have signed everything over to the third Mrs D, but he wouldn't have enough trust for that, knowing himself!...

Lynn was in the prime of her life, a young , vibrant woman, on the brink of the gorgeous years of her childrens' lives, her health at her peak, her beauty undimmed, loved by her family, adored by her daughters, and Chris thought his dick had priority!....over her life!

Chris Dawson to stand trial for murder of wife in Teacher's Pet case

"I don't think any accused person necessarily looks forward to this process," Mr Dawson's lawyer, Greg Walsh, said outside Downing Centre Local Court.

"It's a very stressful one. He lives interstate and no doubt he would find it a very difficult process.

"But having faced this situation for some time he's looking forward to clearing his name."

Chis Dawson is going to be one of those difficult clients. That is my prediction for today. I am expecting at least one change midway of barristers, due to Chris being congenitally unable to take advice or direction.

He wouldn't be in this situation if he could. He is, though, a born killer, something he is going to have to face up to, along with the rest of his cohorts in this hideous , hateful crime.

He is going to try and hang onto his façade he has carefully built up all his life, as long as he can, in the face of all this reality.
