Another possibility... That Dawson tried it on with another student before JC and before the other one . the one who has already testified.

Or.. another student AFTER JC, possibly while married to Missis Dawson #3.

I have been surprised there are not more students on the witness stand, because , teens talk. I am no teen but I STILL talk, and this must have been 24 carat gossip back in the day, with the added zing of being competitive, of gaining points , of having the currency to trade off on the latest, and the most detailed. Of a tiny bit of amateur blackmail--ish efforts in the undercurrent going on. Big comp for that kind of entree into the inner circle at that high school.

Even the boys must have been on to it, with either rage or interest. High school being what it is. ....

He was still at it at the Catholic girls school up in Qld... old habits die hard...

WTAF indeedy..... Lynn would never have sold that house, even Marilyn admitted that Lynn loved it, it was a beautiful place.. besides which, Lynn's father had lent Lynn $10.000.00 ( a great deal of money back then ) she would have discussed the sale of it with her own father, he being a stakeholder, so to speak. Would he ( her father ) have extended the loan on another property? Not unless he knew about it.


( Dawson never repaid Lynn's father the loan he made to his daughter, Chris's wife , and things deteriorated in the family communication, Chris asserting that Lynn had to pay it back, it had nothing to do with him, he took the entire value of the property in the 'divorce ' settlement. Something really off about that divorce procedure, too. No money from Lynn's' 'estate' to the girls, Dawson got the lot. )

ps.His brother was his solicitor in that proceeding.

another thing, small but perhaps relevant. In Au, it is generally held that Real Estate sales and what not halt over Christmas, for about 2 weeks.. a most unpropitious time to sell. Early Dec, Late Jan.. this looks like an impulse sell , and as things turned out, he didn't sell the place for a few years after this.. looks to me like he was threatening Lynn with the loss of the other thing she loved , her home. Her husband, her girls and now her home.

and one more thing, which I forgot to put in re the divorce settlement . There was no death certificate presented at the court in this matter, precisely because her death was not declared, YET the settlement went thru as if she was. Nothing was assigned to Lynn in her absence, nor to her heirs, , not money, nor income, nor real estate, nor assets , nor superannuation accrued during the marriage, nothing for her years of parenting, wifing, housekeeping, groundswoman, earner of salary outside, nothing, the entire Dawson Couple estate went to Dawson Singular.

All this without any sign, legal, civil , anecdotally, whatever. of her death. Dawson placed a few ads in the papers, saying, come on home, lynn, JC will move over, take up where we left off, etc. that seems to be ALL that was required!.. Odd.

I still don't know how that was found to be settled. From what I heard on Hedleys thing, no one of Lynn's family involved themselves with the matter, which they did come to regret, but Dawson had them bamboozled, her running away, leaving her kids, making such a mess of Dawsons life, etc, he tore her to shreds , they backed off, they agree they should not have, even back then.

The Family Court Judge must have been impressed with Dawson's story, plus the brother as legal presenter. No one seems to have questioned it. Yet 1/2 of the value of the house, at least , should have been relegated in trust to her girls. yet... nope..

I get hung up on this part of the whole thing, you can tell, ey ?

There’s not enough words to describe my feelings re CD. He had it all, a beautiful wife, 2 adorable daughters, a magnificent home, a degree of fame. Yet it wasn’t enough. He then achieved his next goal, but he still didn’t find long term happiness. His lies, manipulation etc etc is beyond belief. How he could face his daughters and Lyn’s family and continue his charade is just heartbreaking. There was so much premeditation, not just a moment of anger. He has had years to get his story down pat and practised. He even fooled his police mates with stories of Lyn’s disappearance and sent them on a wild goose chase. He never bargained on Lyn’s family, friends and workmates who loved and respected her to be her voice. <modsnip>

There were actually had 5 Dawson children. There was another son between Lynette and Peter. It is irrelevant to the story line. It was a bit confusing because the podcast made it seem like the family members were agreed facts in the case.

Ross Hutcheon appeared as a witness from Perth via video link in the pre trials so must have passed away since the pre trials.

Take aways for me from this one.

CD had barely finished uni and started his teaching career when he started grooming Joanne.
What a creep. A new exciting job and he is in full predator mode from the get go.

The real estate agent doesn't have any memory of meeting CD behind lyns back or going to Bayview to do the valuation of roughly $250k for it. Interesting.
Lucky Lyn had stashed or forgotten that receipt in her dressing down or we would never know this information.

CD proven contradictions in his police statements from the early 90s to the original.
Going to the gold coast to' be by himself' although he actually ran away to have a new life with Joanne.
He also contradicts himself about what day he comes home and his actions over christmas.

He blames Lynettes bankcard for all their marriage woes. (even though we now know they were very finaincially secure with minimum morgage )
Never mentions his affair with Joanne to LE.
