Deceased/Not Found Australia - Lynette Dawson, 34, Sydney, Jan 1982 *husband guilty* #5

Am hoping he goes down for this.
But am just not confident it can stick.
I think JC was abused and controlled by CD. But it took a few years of sneaky manipulation I hope a jury (if it gets that far) can see it.
Because JC was a willing participant no matter how much she cringes and dodges it now.
For EXAMPLE. Don't believe CD was holding a gun to her head while she swam around Lyns pool topless and in front of Lyn.
It makes me feel icky. Lots of grey area...
The offence is with a minor as her teacher. To prove the charge the prosecution must prove that the offence occurred while the alleged victim was 16, while Chris Dawson was her teacher and before the end of the school year. During the school holidays by NSW legal precedent the student isn't in the care of the student.

I think why the charge came about is because there is another person backing up the claims.

I have to feel confident that the prosecution has all the evidence they need for a successful outcome. If not, our justice system is a joke. JMO.

I just hope the offense sits alone.
Irrespective of JS's actions and participation.
Even if a young girl was throwing herself at her teacher...it's a crime for the teacher to act upon it.
so..I need to stop second guessing it.

''''''Dawson’s barrister, public defender Claire Wasley, said she expected to file an application for a judge-alone trial within the next two weeks, after she had a chance to meet with her client face-to-face in custody. She said the judge-alone application was consented to by the Crown.

Dawson watched the brief mention via video link from Long Bay jail......''''''

Dressed not so finely in prison issue tracksuit pants and top with various tomato sauce stains on it, no doubt....

I think this trial is part of quite a few trials upcoming, and this is where, if Dawson loses this one, I reckon Paul will be summarily charged as well for the ''birthday' episode. And again, a judge only trial is being sought, not granted yet, but may well be. Someone still believes that gives a sexual offender a better chance.

Ms Wasley represented a young man in a situation where he felt murder was the answer, her client was found guilty of manslaughter, a risible verdict , in my opinion. Colombian student found guilty of killing Sydney sex worker ( this was a case with a lot of unique elements )

There are other young women,, apart from JC who have made allegations and consequently other charges in the offing.... we may never hear the end of R v Dawson, one or the other up before some patient judge.

Haven't heard any updates since late March. Assume the judge-alone request is still pending?

May 29th can't come quick enough.

The schools the police seem to be most focused on as far as potential carnal knowledge charges go, are Cromer High, Forest High and Beacon Hills High.

So the things to note are from your article. Trial Date May 29 and he now lives in Long Bay Jail.

"The court was also told the trial was expected to run for just two weeks when it begins on May 29.

Judge Henson also made an order for Dawson to appear in person from Long Bay Jail."

No one knows who the judge for this particular trial may be, as yet. Not neccessarily Judge Henson. A judge only trial is run on a different roster system, one reason, among many , is because it requires a level of concentration and the capacity to be both jury and judge, and to have stamina of a certain super level. And like all judges, their name is called out from a roller barrel, just like lotto.

It doesn''t hurt to remember that Simon Gittany, in a fit of delusion, perhaps like Dawson is enthralled by, insisted on a judge only trial and got a woman judge who took no nonsense whatsoever from Gittany and his pitiful defence , and his unlucky lawyers. He got life.

Can I ask why? Is it a harsher prison? TIA
I like it because he finally got caught and is in prison.
Just the fact that he now lives behind bars because of what he did to Lynette.

100% agree.
My ‘why’ question was relating to why CD would have been transferred to another prison?

There was a mention yesterday and a court sitting on 29 May. He's already complaining about health issues. Can't sit for more than 2hours.

"
“The initial indication was that Dawson may only be fit to sit for two hours a day,” Ms Wasley said.

“(A doctor) has amended his view based on Dawson having 15 minute breaks and sitting for three hours a day”.

Ms Wasley said it was not anticipated Dawson’s fitness issue “will cause any difficulty within the two weeks allocated (for the trial) but the matter was listed to put the court on notice”.

Who would have anticipated Dawson would play that card? Well, I'll be damned. I've never been less surprised.

Put a bed in the court if that's what it takes. Get his sad a.... in that courtroom and have him face the music.

I'm fairly sure that there is more than one prisoner who would prefer not to sit in a courtroom.. who may feel uncomfortable and unhappy being there.. who may prefer to be in a 5 star hotel eating caviar.. this guy has an amazing sense of entitlement and no conscience

I wonder if Dawson will appear today, as scheduled?
