Just this part alone in Diane's testimony says a lot about his lies, which by now, after years and years of leading a life of deceit, should show how she was caught up in his story:

"Just prior toFeb 1976 marriage, he changed his name to Frederick David de Hedervary. He claimed it was his biological family’s name. His father was a 'de Hedervary' and his mother a Coppenolle, first names unknown, and they died in WW2. He was adopted by his aunt Maria Coppenolle and Andre Wouters. When Casselden pressed her if it was Andre or another name such as Abdel [did he mean to say Abel?], she said no, it was definitely Andre."

The Andre part being correct.

Their children are well educated and switched on - if my mother was clearly been taken advantage of I would have done something - but they may also be estranged from their children, some people cant be helped and you end up having to remove yourself.
Diane referred to being told by her daughter about the podcast last year, so there seems to be some kind of contact between them. I think they mentioned that the lawyer representing Dianne was also representing the daughter and son.

I know a few women who would behave similarly, in spite of such a serious (and mysterious) circumstance placed in front of them, they just stick their heads in the sand. I did wonder though, when she said she ‘hadn’t really listened’ to the podcast and Casseldon honed in on that- did you or didn’t you listen to it- about whether she had listened to a little bit but didn’t want RB to know.

After they married, she said he became a wedding photographer. so did he ever show her the photos he took? In those days, would he have had to develop them at home in a dark room?

I thought Casselden suggested the name, Abdul Floreant Wouters.

Used to be that any pharmacy/chemist could have developed photos

That's where we got all our photos developed then. Or some shop like Camera House. I think they're not around any more but there were other places like that around then.

Big W and Harvey Norman were not yet into film developing at that time, at least not in my area.

After they married, she said he became a wedding photographer. so did he ever show her the photos he took? In those days, would he have had to develop them at home in a dark room?

I wrote down Abdal so I’m with you I didn’t hear Abel

I agree with your opinion on his character and record of behavior , however i can not see any reason to have her believe they were cousins when and if they were actually brothers .. sorry i cannot find any sense or reasoning in this as a lie when she is in their home and it would be easier for them to not have to cover up his story when it fact it most likely is the case .

Unless you can provide me with a good reason for him to lie about being cousins or brothers ?

He is a master at lies and manipulation.

One could argue the same with his account of never having been married prior to Ilona or that he was a multi millionaire as told to JO

Agree. She is possibly torn between wanting to know what is going on but also completely overwhelmed that her partner of all these years is a criminal and wanted in the investigation of a missing person, fraud and his whole life a lie.

Could Diane have got her dates wrong accidentally or deliberately? IMO he was married to Ilona in 1970 (allegedly married Ilona in 1969).

1974-05-21 Willy Wouters discharged from prison but where he was is unaccounted for.

May 1974-February 1976?? Willy Wouters must have returned to Australia but no records can be found say immigration dept.

1974 -1975 Is this when he caught a ship to Australia and met Diane? What name did he use then? Diane has always called him Ric.

1976-02-12 Willy Wouters changes name to FD de Hereditary

1976-02-20 FD de Hedervary marries wife #3 Diane Walker

1976-02-23 FD de Hedervary applies for Australian citizenship. No mention made about being absent from Australia and WW claims his passport was lost in 1970

1976-03-25 FD de Hedervary Australian citizenship granted but obtained by fraudulent means as entry permit invalid.

1976-03-25 FD de Hedervary residence 303 old south head Road, Bondi NSW

1976-03-25 FD de Hedervary Australian passport issued

1976-06 Willy Wouters false impersonation, Paris, 1 year sentence

1976-07-28 FD and Diane depart Australia

I haven’t got the chance to look at the courtvideo yet, but i know wedding photographers, and they do need a car, as they have to get to a lot of venues and places!

Maybe our Belgian members can tell us what this uniform is? Was it common for Belgians to join military back then , like it's compulsory in Switzerland these days. This profile photo of Willy wonkers
I’m not done catching up here as it’s early morning here now, but in Belgium you had to join the military for a few years. I’ll search for an article or info on my lunch break!
After they married, she said he became a wedding photographer. so did he ever show her the photos he took? In those days, would he have had to develop them at home in a dark room?

Does that imply he finally used his real Birth Certificate to set up this CBA bank account?
