The CNN article has hit Portugal

"A 25-year-old mystery: the missing primary teacher, the daughter who is looking for her and a partner with a 'life of deceit"
I don't think that placing this story throughout Europe and on the Iberian coast is just for idle interest. My thought is that these publications are being "guided" by Australian and international agencies (not social media sites!) in the hope of discovering more victims and about Mr AKA or whoever he might be. "Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive " is a quote from Sir Walter Scott and frequently used to describe the destructive consequences of lies and the impact on peoples lives. That could be the first line of a mini-series about this saga!

Mishy- what do we know about these Walkers? I’ve missed it, if already in public arena…
If I posted it all up again I think everyone would passout lol. If you do a search it should all come up, too much to repost.

Here is a starting point....I accidently wrote a few errors in the original post so there are amendments after this

Wow, thank you. A lot to take in. Even a sausage saga. You Sleuthers are amazing. (I need to work out the search function here).

I assume she did only know him as FR. Where is the evidence that she knew him as Ric Blum from? Does anyone know? Why would a con artist use his 'real' name (nothing about him is real but you know what I mean)?
my point is: we don't know. He could have used any of his aliases with Marion and the name change could have come about via one of his spy BS reasons. It's just always dangerous to assume anything without proof. Speculations I approve!

I wonder how many names DdeH has had - I know that's been gone through before but now I'm left wondering if she's had as many fake / unofficial identities as he has? I'm now starting to view her as a fully involved accomplice JMO MOO

Is it thought that Willy Wouters is a name that he’s taken from elsewhere too? It asked like it’s not a massively uncommon name. I don’t think this is him, based on the likely age but thought it was mildly interesting.

Oh my!

Great find!

No this would be the right age. He would be 20 in 1959 and with the ship coming from Ostend West Flanders, makes perfect sense.

Wonder if this is where he continued to get his 'sail off in the sunset with me MC' .....BS from

It says he’s the captain which made me wonder if he’d be too young for that - but also thought that also didn’t mean he wouldn’t be part of the crew for example etc if it was someone he came across if not him - was there a way to check ship manifests that someone had earlier? I’ve tried some general googling but not finding more but happy to comb through them if I can.

I keep going back to AKA good mates, accountant Vernon Ware and coin dealing mate Barry Cooper all associated with Ballina Coins and Clarendon Hill Investments and the De Hedervary Family Trust set up.

He must have an incredible solicitor that helped him out with all sorts of shady dealings. He even says at the inquest his solicitor friend arranges things for him

When I was searching his address Old South Head Road, Thanks to @KiwiNZ who corrected the number of the address amongst other things related to this time, I found a fascinating story on another Australian named Blum.

A solicitor, who lived in the VERY same street in 1971 - incredible coincidence.....

I can't share more links in trove associated to him as it has peoples names for wills etc. But do a search and see what line of work he loves to do....

He moves into Piccadilly Arcade, PITT STREET Sydney sometime between 1958 and 1963 and continues to work in a more “business like surround”, assisting people with their finances, especially Family Wills, etc etc

Until it all comes crashing down in 1970 leading to bankruptcy

So many incredible coincidences no!?

The Sydney Morning Herald writeup is a doozy! - Where have I heard all this before

Ric do you know Alan by chance?

You know any trust deed in australia needs to be stamped for stamp duty purposes. A trust may be unenforceable if not stamped.

So, wonder if the revenue offices in any of the states have a record of this family trust?

Just far too many “coincidences” in this case….

Wow I'm so angry reading these news reports - this Blum the Solicitor stole nearly £600,000k (a vast amount of money even nowadays but in the 60s and 70s would have been a mindblowing sum) mostly from his friends, family members, local people and acquaintances who trusted him! When he knew the gig was up he turned to his friend the police officer to assist by saying 'my accounts are well down...' and the psychiatrist explains it all away by saying he must have been having psychotic episodes!!! GRRRRRR he was a thief and swindler, very clearly but he still had good relationships with the right people in authority. I'm glad his wife was 'hostile' and left him. Gosh sorry for ranting but these men think the whole world is just for their taking don't they?

Also... Mr Blum, Solicitor, 'had not lived above his means'! Just like someone else we know. He was strictly orthodox jewish and I used to live in an area populated by orthodox jews (in North London in the UK), so I know how humble and lowly of a lifestyle that usually is, in my observation. His business partner, friends and family didn't know anything about this. So, what exactly did Mr Blum Solicitor do with well over half a million pounds of other people's money???

Good Q. Wonder what he did do with it all. These lowlifes need to be brought to justice. ( BTW Alan Blum is dead)

There is a lot more to Alan B and the connections & similarities to AKA is fasinating. I wouldn't blow old Al off just yet, he just might turn out to be the breadcrumb....

Ric Blum and all his connections. Every name has a story and every story has to be told. It is the only way to paint the picture of what this monster is really like.

Hopefully, by doing so, someone else can make a connection and all of these connections lead us to Marion Barter.
