Ms Dubois is first up. She and an interpreter are being sworn in.

GDD ”It’s so important for me to bear witness.”

This interpreter is a bit un-calm, makes a lot of noise, is poor with the microphone, and interrupts :/

So much background noise from all the other people moving their papers around... they need someone muting mics

She’s currently living in Belgium. (she’s still sharp as a tack btw). He gave her the deHevedary name. They met through an ad in a newspaper. She asked for a hand written letter which he sent, no spelling errors and she found him interesting. She was looking for something new. She was 72 and a widow at the time.

Poor Ghislaine, 'did you share your bed with Frederick?'

As I knew he was living in a small studio apartment, I invited him to live at my place and he accepted immediately.

Yes, he shared the bed, but he had said beforehand that he was abnormally frigid.

:O

Met in Belgium in 2006, first meeting was in a cafe in Brussels. In June 2006 (She thinks.) Last time was in September, she called him Frederick. They formed a friendship after meeting. She says it became a romantic relationship. He was living in a small studio apartment and she offered for him to move in. They shared a bed but he said he was something (weirdness on the audio). It was about a month that they lived together. He told her that he was living in Australia. He was looking for old coins while in Belgium, he was a coin collector. She did not help with the coins, because she knew nothing about coins.

He told her he was a bank manager, not married and with no children.

He told her that he was a Bank Manager in Australia. He did not tell her what bank and didn’t tell her where he was living in Australia. He did not tell her that he was married. He did not tell her that he had kids. He told her that they were going to get married at a resort in Bali. And yes she said “Yes” She agreed to marry him because she was fond of him and wanted to live with him in Australia. He led her to believe that they would get married and live in Australia together. And she was prepared to do that provided she could return from time to time to visit her kids (and vice versa)

Putting Marion in her place for a moment in regard to not telling her children

She insisted that he meet her kids. He wanted to go to Bali without telling her kids. He was saying it would be more “fun” to not tell the kids until after they were married. She did not accept that. She arranged a meeting with him and her kids in Brussels. She told her kids that she was going to marry him and move to Australia. Her kids were very surprised and astonished by this news.

He asked her to sell the house and to give him the money and he’d open accounts at his bank for her kids. She did take steps to sell her house. “He took advantage of the love I had for my children to steal my money.” Her son told her that there was a house for sale near him and she decided to give her son the money for the house. So the money from her sale of the house was going to go to her son for that property and AKA disappeared. She withdrew money from her bank accounts to have AKA deposit it in Australia. (Aside: MUTE YOUR MICROPHONES PEOPLE.) She took money from her account and from investments supposedly for the accounts, he would go with her to take out that money, he would want her to give him the money under the table. She estimates that she gave AKA 70k euros. In cash.

She didn't help him with his coin business as she knows nothing of that. He did ask her to pick up some coin catalogues. He told her he was a BANK MANAGER, didn't say which bank unfortunately. Didn't tell her where he lived in Australia. Didn't tell her that he was married, not at all. Absolutely not, he didn't tell her he had any children.

He told her that they would get married in a resort - some confusion over the location - in Bali, Indonesia. She accepted his invitation to marry because she was fond of him and wanted to live in Australia. He had told her they would live together in Australia and she was willing to do that as long as she could return to Europe from time to time to see her children and also provided her children could come to visit in Australia.

Only when G insisted on it and asked for clarification, 'Frederick' agreed to meet with her children, he didn't want her to tell them about the marriage. He attempted to deter her by saying it would be more fun to tell them after they were married - and that is exactly why she did not accept. They arranged for a meal in Brussels and that's when he met her children. G told them she was going to marry Frederick and go to live in Australia. They were, of course, very surprised and astonished. They didn't tell her not to marry as they love her very much and let her free to do as she wants since their father died.

In preparation for the marriage, F asked her to sell her house then asked her to give him all the money so he could open bank accounts in his bank for her children - four children, four separate accounts - so when they visited G they could find their money in their own accounts. F took steps to sell her house. She wants to add, he took advantage of the love she had for her children to steal her money.

She hadn't sold her house, as her son who lived in France told her of a house for sale near him, she was thinking of giving the money to him and at this point F realised he wasn't going to get the money so he left. G hadn't actually informed F the proceeds of the sale would go to the son and therefore he (F) would not get the money. She didn't understand anything. It was only at the meal organised by her son and his partner that she began to understand things. Prior to this (the meal and realisation) she had arranged for money from her bank accounts and investments, supposedly for the accounts for her children in his bank in Australia, F came with her and each time he wanted her to give him the money 'under the table'.

In Euros, 70,000 euros. In cash.

I think the interpreter is doing an excellent job.

He said he was going to invest Ghislaine's money into accounts in his bank in Australia 'for her children'. She doesn't think he did that.

'Frederick' never returned any of her money. One day in fact F called G from Brussels and she said give me back what you took from me. He said I took nothing from you and if I hear from you again, you will have to deal with me. She believes he was speaking as to some form of revenge.

That was approx 3 or 4 days after she realised he had gone for good because he had taken all his things.

72,000 Euros is the stated amount

The sound quality is very poor
