I also wish Marion’s Boyd paintings could be traced/found.... doubt it of course but sometimes I imagine one of the public house pics from real estates of the past have a boyd hanging on the wall!!

You would think there would be a database of artworks etc - or if media mentioned it someone may come forward saying I have that painting etc

Goodness..... this helps me with my theory of the tea chests having some vital piece of the puzzle and why mr Blum bothered mentioning them at all, thanks housemartyn.
There is no trace of the tea chests ? Nobody knows if they went to Europe with her? Or left behind in an unknown location ?

Do we know what was in the tea chests and where her furniture went etc? Chairs tables pot plants and things like that ?

MB’s Jamie Boyd art was numbered. SL and MB’s ex husband (who she was married to when she purchased it) have no idea of the number between 1-100. SL contacted Jamie Boyd Art, they have no register of who purchased what numbers.

SL has a photo of it but you can’t see the number which would be on the bottom left of the print.

There is a database of art sales - but without the number it’s very tricky. It’s possible the new owner has registered it.

Here’s a link to the database. For sale is the same print as MB’s ‘vase of flowers’

Even if they found the same Jamie Boyd work hanging at RBs, they wouldn't be able to prove it was Marion's.
Unless she put her name on the back of it. Or had it engraved.
Or the number was found somewhere.

Or unless they could somehow get her DNA from it. Assuming they could use Sally's DNA to find a match.

Or maybe the DNA or fingerprints of someone who helped pack it.
Or anyone known to Marion who ever touched it.

I'm ruling out her fingerprints as I'm just assuming she'd never been fingerprinted.

Come to think of it, is it out of the question that RB has ever been fingerprinted ?

And do his prints still exist somewhere.

Or he’d only just remember that MB gave it to him. With his problem memory and all that stuff.

If any fingerprints or DNA connected to Sally or family or friends was found, his bluff would be called bigtime.

Must have been fingerprinted at sometime when he was convicted over in Belgium and then imprisoned.

However, the Australian authorities would be remiss at this point not to run his fingerprints and DNA through any databases but I suppose they would need a reasonable cause to do so? MB being missing and him being linked to her disappearance could be a good enough cause maybe?

A sleuth found one for auction at a Southport auction house last year. I think they were trying to track its owner

IMO that is why he disclosed he had some of Marions things at his house.
This painting.

This awful story has so many twists and turns, it's hard to remember every detail that everyone who was ever mentioned said.

I would say it's impossible unless you are some kind of memory genius.

Like those who have Hyperthymesia

Hyperthymesia is an ability that allows people to remember nearly every event of their life with great precision.

Or spend 24 hours a day keeping notes of it all, right down to the smallest detail.
That would be amazing!
For a missing persons case I Imagine it would be vital to have ACCURATE dates/ timelines of facts that way everyone is working from the same page. There are so many twists and turns in this case, muddying the timeline would create more confusion I guess.
I love that so many sleuths worked on this pre 2021 and had much of the accurate information from then. Especially when they found that the bank manager / bank security, who told the salvos who in turn told Marions family, she was going OS. I think it was Peralta who had the great info on past events along with a few of the older ones who did such great work back then.

Always wondered how the banks could possibly know that back then.

Another mystery to this case. So many of them!

Those postcards were to Marions sister and LL

It is on the podcast and was discussed here yrs ago
It is strange that they arent included included on the post.
Maybe the family dynamics? It's a shame the sisters dont support Sally. She needs it now more that ever. All that proof and they still dont reach out to her. It's sad.
Sally's post on FB 15Jun had info on the postmarks of the postcards and letter from Marion, decoded for when processed etc. There is no mention on SL's post of any outstanding anomalies such as cards processed a month after MB's return to Aus, so I had thought the scenario of someone else sending cards had been discounted. I think because he knew if his house was searched, it was possible they might find something that belonged to Marion.
Maybe he wasn't sure if he hadn't kept something.

Or maybe he knew for sure he had. And that's why he had to admit to police that yes he had met Marion and that she had come to his home.

And so the story about Marion leaving her belongings at his house, the pilot etc.

Agree. It was no accidental slip of the tongue he mentioned it.

I till think they guy is stupid and not as bright as he thinks he is.

If a criminal doesn't know that police can't just search your house without getting a warrant that also requires a high level of evidence that your even involved in the criminal act they are investigating, to get one, then ya have to wonder ..

I think he was bored, I think he was missing the thrill of the chase, after giving up his life of grime ..I think he LOVES the attention, I think he loves to insert himself and try and talk his way out of things that he didn't even need to insert himself into in the first place. JMO

I don't know of any criminal that would assist the police, they would just deny deny deny ... not help them out lol if it wasn't for Blum himself we would still be nowhere .. the guy is a joke.

they never had anything that physically linked him to Marion - they still don't - only RB's very own words, his EGO got him.

I am still gobsmacked that he would admit to meeting Marion.
I don't think they had enough on him. He could have just kept denying.

Instead he made himself the centre of attention.

  • #879
But I do think he had something of Marion's and maybe he knew it was somewhere in his house but he wasn't sure where, so he couldn't just get rid of it.

And he worried overnight and changed his story.

Maybe from the way the detectives acted he thought they might get a warrant for a search, before he had enough time to look through an entire houses belongings and make sure there was nothing of Marion's.

Maybe what he had were the remains of Marion hidden behind a wall or something

Agree - I think his ego is bigger than anything ... trying to prove the old man still had it .. I can get out of this one no problems and I can come off like a really good guy ..lol
