I keep thinking about Wollongbar. If Police were called because of a disturbance there some time between August/September 1997, it would have been recorded but probs manually back then (idk), and filed away/lost? Are their note pads saved forever? I wonder if any of the existing neighbours from back then are still around, or been followed up if they have moved, … and interviewed by Police?

As far as the inquest goes ,the interest in the reason for their move for only a year is still intriguing and of more interest IMo than the "story" of MB being there with a pilot ...

Asking these questions indicates something either known about that move or it was intriguing enough for the court to want to know why ?

Could be! They certainly have a vast property portfolio!
And they did arrive in BB in 1993

The reason I say accommodation they may have stayed in is because of the Accor handle and the BBay 1997 accommodation call out.

BB is only half hour drive from Wollongbar -

Haven't found any evidence of that so far. Diane would lose her 'entitled carers pension' if they had separated.

He spent quite a bit of time in Europe so probably didn’t need another place in Australia to give his family a break from his awesomeness

I see what you maybe thinking here , that it might be possible she did move out at one stage away from where he was working etc for awhile , hence the house in Wollongbar , he obviously wormed his way back in if that be the case ..so many questions about it at court and both of them could not explain the reasoning behind the move or at least not that made sense to the court . Something like a temporary separation would explain it and they would not want to admit ....the children could have stayed in town for school through the week with him ...just an idea ...but separation after some issues they had happened before ...

No Doubt, He's kept his disability pension and she kept receiving her carers pension, but that never stopped him galavanting the globe, I'm thinking he may have used one of his 50 other names for a house rental here and there. They did live separately while in she lived Burwash/ he in Belgium/Lux in the 80's
Madcow disease made him return regularly with groceries.
So back in Australia he could have rented with one of his aliases.

I doubt they would have declared to Social Security about any separations , he could have just stayed at the office or whatever ...regardless there is no way I would believe it was declared as a separation

this vast property portfolio in 1993 was a few years after Walkers passed away ,
so are we thinking it was part of the inheritance as well ? ...They might be very savvy investors obviously

I am hoping some checking re both of them deceased so close together etc is being considered suspicious ..imo

It would not surprize me if RB might think it was convenient to hurry things along ...thinking he was doing everyone a favor ...

If i was any family I would be really pi..ed by now realizing what he might have done and implicated them by default

My friend is a CBA branch manager, having work there since the late 90’s. Back in the days of bank books still being the most used method of deposit and withdrawals than cards. $5,000 and under you could withdraw daily - anything over $5,000 you would have to give the bank notice to have the said amount on hand. Larger sums required further identification to withdraw. She cannot remember which year it changed - but the limit did drop to $3,000. She believes it was sometime in the early 2000’s.

She hadn’t heard of MB’s story - she said at her branch, it would’ve been a red flag if someone was continually withdrawing 5k amounts. She couldn’t believe it was allowed to go on for 3 and a half weeks without a sit down with the branch manager and questions asked.

Unless they were going to a different Bank teller each day it’s hard to fathom why a bank employee didn’t red flag this or at least ask whoever the person was withdrawing the cash (and I’m still not 100% convinced it was Marion herself) why not arrange for a larger sum to be withdrawn rather than visit every day?

I do believe they lived on separate continents at one point. JMO but I think she knew of the MC affair and went back to Australia for a period of time, probably back to her family. Not that she divulged this info at the inquest.
