What will happen to his body if no one claims it?

I think that Venera Akram (wife) will claim it.

But if no-one claimed it, I think the government would likely give him a "pauper's funeral" - basically just a burial.

Armed police presence at Bondi this evening doesn't indicate security risk: NSW police

Police – including officers holding “long-arm firearms” – will be posted to Bondi and the surrounding areas on Sunday afternoon, NSW police say.

In a statement released on Sunday afternoon, police said they wanted “to reassure the community that this does not reflect a heightened security alert.”

We know how deeply this tragedy has impacted Jewish families, friends, and the wider community who stand with them. Our priority is ensuring that everyone can come together to honour the victims and support one another without fear.

You will see more officers than usual, including some carrying long-arm firearms. While our priority is keeping the community safe, it is equally about helping people feel safe as they come together to grieve.

Tonight is about standing with the community, safeguarding the space for a respectful vigil, and ensuring everyone feels supported during this incredibly difficult time.

With Sunday morning’s events now concluded, authorities have closed access to the Bondi memorial site for the public.

It will reopen from 4pm for a community memorial event and at 6.47pm, a minute of silence will be held.

Anti-immigration rally in Sydney draws small crowd

No more than 200 people have joined an anti-immigration rally in a park in central Sydney after police and the premier, Chris Minns, urged it to not go ahead.

Barnaby Joyce, who earlier this month joined One Nation, is due to speak any moment.

In a short press conference before the rally kicked off, he was asked why he hadn’t respected calls for the rally to not go ahead. He said it wasn’t a rally, but a meeting, adding: “Do you see people charging around, yelling and screaming?”

There is a large police presence at the event. A number of attendees are waving Australian flags, and wearing orange One Nation t-shirts. One person holds a sign that says “Islam is incompatible with the West”.

One speaker began the rally by telling attendees:

There was a lot of mainstream media coverage warning you about not coming … So the fact that you are here means that you are a small group of some of the bravest Australians in this country.
She then led a chant, saying “Export Terrorists” and “Albanese has to go”.

Minns told Nine’s Today program when asked about the rally on Sunday:

Don’t do it. Don’t go ahead with it right now – people are burying their dead.

Standing at Bondi, I saw a sea of emergency responders in blue walking toward the memorial to place flowers.
Many of them were among the first on the scene last Sunday, running in to rescue the wounded.
They were visibly emotional. Carrying things they will likely carry for a lifetime.
In moments like these, God’s angels wear blue.

Thousands turned out for a memorial on Sunday, one week on from the Bondi Beach mass shooting that shook Australia, as officials announced a review of the country's law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

The attack — Australia’s worst mass shooting in nearly three decades — killed 15 people during a seaside Hanukkah celebration and was designated a terrorist attack targeting the Jewish community. One suspected shooter was killed during the attack, while the other was injured and charged with terrorism and murder after he awoke from a coma, as Australian investigators probe their alleged connection to the Islamic State terror group.

A minute of silence was observed at 6:47 p.m. local time (2:47 a.m. E.T.) on Sunday, exactly seven days since the attack began...

May their memories be a blessing.

Bondi terror attack: Two other men investigated by police following trip to Philippines at same time as Naveed Akram and Sajid Akram

The men reportedly travelled to the same place in the Philippines during the same time as gunmen Naveed and Sajid Akram

Now Philippines police are looking into two other men from Sydney who reportedly travelled to the same place in the country at the same time as the accused Bondi terrorists.

Local police are also investigating what was discussed during a meeting the Akrams had with a Muslim cleric.

Sajid’s wife, meanwhile, has thrown burial plans for her late husband into limbo, declaring he wants nothing to do with him.

His body remains in the morgue at the coroner’s office. 7NEWS can reveal his estranged wife has signed it over to the government for a destitute burial.

Lindt Cafe survivor and ex-detective unite to support victims of terror attack

Paraphrased:

A Lindt Cafe siege survivor and former counter-terrorism detective have joined forces to support families and witnesses traumatised by the Bondi attack.

Ms Hope and Ms O’Hare have been based at a reception centre at the InterContinental Hotel in Coogee, where families, witnesses and survivors have gathered for support.

The centre brings together chaplains, mental health clinicians and welfare teams, with VOTA providing peer-based support to those grappling with both immediate shock and longer-term trauma.

ASIO raised risk of 'threat from lone actors' in warning less than two weeks before Bondi Beach terror attack

ASIO reportedly issued a pointed warning about the risk of "lone actors or small cells" carrying out a terror attack less than two weeks before the horrific shooting at Bondi Beach.

In that case, if there was credible intelligence about possible attacks, there should have been police already stationed at Bondi, knowing there would be a gathering of Jewish people celebrating Chanukah.

Experience has shown over decades that terrorists often attack on Jewish holidays. Even October 7th was a Jewish holiday.

I have some members of LE in my family and I typically always support them, but this was a tragic miss.
