I thought MsLilly was talking about 25% in addition to the capital investment . . . 25% on capital, not of capital. In total, not per annum.
Oh hopefully Ms Lilly can clarify? Sorry, I took it as only 25% of what the investors put in originally.....

If Investors were going to get back 25% on top of their original investment..... wouldn't that be about the percentage MC offered in the first place???

I took the post to mean that Investors are still going to need to fight for that 25% ..... and no returns at all for the length of the investment would be forthcoming ......

For over 8 years MC used stolen investor to fund her lifestyle.... how can someone that was trusted be so villainous and evil is hard to comprehend.
Since her disappearance ... for over 3 months her partner and child received a “living allowance” which included $200 per week each for counselling (Affidavit A.G. 8 Dec 2020) paid out of the stolen funds....bet the investors haven’t received the same!
Yes, her family has lost a daughter/mother/partner ....and their life impacted...but for last 8+ years everything she provided for them was provided with stolen investor funds. And it looks like the Investors now have to fight for a return on every dollar they invested in good faith. 60 Minutes states that there was a “healthy return”for the Investors...it appears that the “healthy return” will be in the vicinity of twenty five percent on their capital investment (no return on the years they had invested)...and this “healthy return” will also depend on costs - eg the Receivers/Liquidators and paying out the banks for the mortgages they should never have approved.
The question that needs to be asked is “who enabled MC to continue this fraud for so many years...the banks...the accountants....the auditors? She can’t be held accountable but surely they can!!
If only they could be held accountable.

MC is the one that has fooled everyone. Her accountants, lawyers, ato, banks, clients, doctors, employees, employers, family & friends. She was the one who forged hundreds, probably thousands of signatures & documents. For her fraud to go undetected for as long as it did means that she was good at dodging the shadows

25 cents on the dollar would seem right after all creditors were paid back, this is about normal for liquidations

to get 100% and 25% on top would be almost unheard of in a liquidation

In 2003 Melissa was about 32 years old. And she already had 14 years working in the industry? AND a masters degree, and a diploma too?

Not impossible but what a run she had after finishing school.
I have a sneaking suspicion MC was already forging documents by then .... like her Resume.... and even possibly her Degrees??? All IMO

No...no....no....just 25% on the capital investment ....and those who invested at the beginning are 8 years without any growth to their investment....so self funded retirement isn’t going to happen!!

SBM

No intention to intrude into their privacy, but because of the details in the above post, I have discovered that I am just one degree of separation from Melissa's mum.

I can only say that mum was indeed a bona fide tai chi teacher, their tai chi group is tight knitted, and Melissa was known to them.
I was just thinking about this article..... Melissa's friends all thought she had "married" wealth....... not that she had actually "made it" on her own...... I wonder why not???
(After they caught up at the reunion)
Just something I found interesting to ponder.....

They might well be satisfied with that at this point, rather than the 10 cents in the dollar that was mooted very early on. It’s better than nothing.

The Feds rock up early in the morning, ASIC one step behind them. Dawn. At home, Melissa, Anthony and the kid. Melissa pulls on a pair of running leggings, a singlet top and a pair of particular shoes. What Anthony gets clobbered up in is unknown, at present.

The Feds do their thing, they tell Melissa someone tipped them off, they lay out the process they are going to instigate, they take equipment, papers, camera's , lap tops, IPads, what have you. They inform Melissa that the jig is up, her fraud and scamming days are over, all is known , and all will be revealed in tomorrow's newspapers, which means the 'investors', ( now known as victims ) are about to have their lives shattered, and Melissa's lifetime of lying exposed.

Trucks will be arriving to remove assets, nothing is to be removed except by the AFP.

ASIC / AFP leave, apparently, for reasons that defy reason, ( to me ) they remove the innards of the security camera on the front porch. The story is, they want to examine who came to the house, when common sense would tell anyone that what was going to be coming and going from now on would be more relevant.. but I digress. .

Anthony says, they had a normal day and night. ( this cannot be true. For a hundred reasons ) . They, according to Anthony have a small party that night, one that had been arranged. ( I doubt this ) .. ok. its night, the day is over, the party is over, and everyone goes to bed to gather strength for another day.

At 5/30am around there, the son hears the front door open, or close, or both. That's all. Doesn't see Mum, doesn't hear Mum but assumes Mum is going for her run, dressed in the gear, especially , the same shoes she had on the day before when the raid by AFP took place. They filmed these exact shoes.

So .. Anthony and , I presume, the son, wait around, for Mum to come back. 30 hours pass.. Anthony does a little tour of the Eastern suburbs beauty spots, where they liked to go. Nothing is seen of Melissa.

That's all Anthony said he did. Who did he ring? was it him that told the brother of their impending doom? did Melissa do that phone call before she went on the run?> . Did the brother come galloping over from Edgecliffe to find out just what was going on, what's going to happen to elderly mum and dad, what about him, he's sixty, the dogs, what about the dogs . Can't they sell the Aspen apartment?? bad news about that.... What about his 1% share in the mumanddad's apartment? .

Who else was rung and told the awful news? People must have been told ..

It is difficult to believe that everybody just sat around , silent, thinking about, oh.. what to wear, and what to have for lunch. A huge life changing bomb has just gone off in their lives, who did they ( anthony and the bro ) consult, try and get comfort from, advice from, help from??? ..

SOme may get 10 cents in the dollar. It depends entirely upon the claimants with clout. I was gob smacked by that article in guess what, the Daily Fail holding out the promise that the money would be returned. These investors have to actually pay their lawyer to argue with the Receiver to get even 1 cent in the dollar.

I think it would pay to take a close look at that Master's degree piece of paper.

The closest I've come is a $300 pair of Ray-bans.
But I didn't buy them. I won them in a competition.
There's no way I would spend that much on a pair of sunglasses.

Yep I’m the same, although I have come across the likes of Dior & D&G clothing & sunglasses in various op shops and in that instance have quickly snapped them up. But I’m too frugal to buy them new.

I think they took it because they were concerned about video being erased.

SOome of the investors have joined up in a class action. This would not be on the lawyers part a no win , no fee thingy. The lawyer would take the job on taking a percentage of the funds recovered. He / the lawyer, runs the risk , same as the clients, no recovery, a smaller fee. But not much smaller, Lawyer s have to eat, just like the rest of us. .

There are 2 class actions , as far as I know, plus a whole lot of solo flyers, god alone knows what they will get back , if anything. . There are big creditors on Melissa's backside. .

I think someone said before that it would have been in a computer on a hard drive?

She certainly worked very hard, at being bad!
