Both the Audi & Mercedes would have GPS trackers. You’d hope that the police would have already checked them on both cars. You’d hope anyway..
Can you take the tracker out of the car and put it in a mobile phone?

I doubt it.
I mean it’s possible it could be taken out (not put in a mobile phone though).

However this is something that police would notice straight away if they did watch out for it & alarm bells would be ringing.

Example of Audi GPS tracking control unit. It seems that whilst not all Audi owners would have subscribed to GPS data for their vehicle the data would have been collected anyway.

I'm down a rabbit hole at present, I'm amazed at connections and coincidences that are appearing much bigger than myself.
Maybe soon they'll show themselves to be quite insignificant but for now...a Boston tea party.
I'm trying to be vague and cryptic but hopefully at least one person is on this trail.

The cars GPS tracker was one of the first questions that came to me on Melissa’s disappearance because I know through one of my jobs that a lot of new cars can do gps tracking & luxury cars are pretty much guaranteed to have that tracking available.

I’m assuming & hoping the police have checked it on both vehicles? There’s a possibility it may be able to be done remotely? If it’s been checked that could be a good reason why AK is not a POI.

If it hasn’t been checked then the police have a lot of explaining to do..

For anyone that’s thinking is turning to remote monitoring of mobile phones well that’s not hard for the police to do, legally or not. Also a phones location can be tracked even if GPS is turned off on it (smartphones anyway) & also even if the phone is switched off itself.

So assuming he’s still using his phone, is driving the Mercedes & the police have checked location history & it’s come up clear & also he isn’t concocting evil plans via a burner phone I would conclude that the police have come to the conclusion that AK is an innocent person. For now I’m of the same opinion, but anything is possible with this case.

Does anyone know what year & model the Mercedes is?

Reading up more on this Mercedes Me app apparently if your vehicle was older than 2019 then the adapter was offered free of charge during regular services. MB had to install the adapter at the dealer, not just anyone could plug it in. If the vehicle is 2019 and newer you only need to download the app & voila.

I’m betting they had the adapter.

I’d raise $20 that MC also allowed AK to be a co-user of the vehicle & function, however if AK is a co-user then his trips would only be stored solely on his smartphone. However I’d also assume that this data is still accessible by Mercedes & the Police if required as the trips are stored within the Mercedes Me app itself.

Ok I may need to admit defeat.

After some investigation it seems that the car AK is driving (would love solid confirmation of this) is a 2017 or 2018 AMG A45. Car obtained in 2017 but when it’s manufactured late in the year sometimes they make it the next years model.

I’ve also discovered that it’s one of the models that still isn’t eligible for the adaptor, however the car still has GPS, hard drive etc etc so it would be interesting to see what it tracks. Not sure it will keep past trip info, which was the main benefit of that Mercedes Me app..

It is worth mentioning that considering AK likes his beats and like me he probably likes loud banging music that his phone would be likely to be Bluetooth connected so that the car sound system can access his music library. I’m not seeing long car trips happening without music & radio & CD isn’t going to cut it. Even if he was using a burner phone the car knows the owner / name of that phone as it’s usually displayed & if there’s enough room on the hard drive will keep that phone’s details so it can easily join Bluetooth again.

Sorry I’m kind of nerding out here, but I believe that some movements can be tracked with phone technology, even if a user doesn’t allow gps to be turned on. If the car did go for a trip down the South Coast & a burner phone was taken then the police would likely know about it if they looked at Bluetooth users / history etc.

Also another thought... is that Mercedes certain to be in Melissa’s name? Bought with her money?

I’m sure she drove it regularly but I saw a photo of AK in the drivers seat when he got the car in 2017. He seemed quite excited about the car & it had another PAWS plate on it.

The bus ride from hell!

The thought of MC sitting on a coach with the common people to go down to the South Coast is pretty hilarious. She would be upset at the lack of first class facilities.

What is a GPS jammer?
A GPS jammer is a typically small, self-contained, transmitter device used to conceal one’s location by sending radio signals with the same frequency as a GPS device. When this occurs, the GPS device is unable to determine its position due to interference. What are GPS jammers and how do you combat them? | Geotab

Who uses GPS jammers?

Among civilians, some speeding drivers may use jamming devices to try to prevent detection by police and avoid fines.

Criminals use GPS jammers as cover for vehicle theft or to avoid toll charges or mileage charges.

In the fleet world, GPS jamming could be used by a driver to prevent the employer from knowing where they are going with the company vehicle.

If... I say, IF, .. someone says they went round and round the Eastern Suburbs, looking for their missing wife, and at the same time, activated a jammer on the GPS recorder apparatus... surely that would qualify as a 'consciousness of guilt'.. ??

I haven't gotten that far yet, as in whether jammers can be detected.

I'm just throwing ideas out when they arise because unlike a broth with many cooks, an investigation with many minds refines it. Or something like that..

So, it turns out that it depends on the tracking system used as to whether or not jamming can be detected.

Some hard drives will store trilateration data from every few seconds of the cars journey.

Now, data of satellite signals that combine to track the position of a car are displayed on the log as a triangle, when a jammer is used, a straight line will appear instead, only returning to a triangle once jamming stops and satellite signals are free to catch up, chew the fat and spit out a position.

So, to anyone checking, that straight line may not tell them where you were at the time but it will definitely tell them the tracking had interference. (Minime what you said)

But, there ARE other systems that can be jammed without storing data that shows the interference.

Now, as to what systems our favourite celebrities are dealing with, well, someone else have a dig hey?

We've almost got a warren for an arrest :D:p
