GUILTY Australia - Robert, 66, & Cheryl Adamson, 60, murdered, Murrumbeena, Vic, 19 Feb 2014

  • #101
In MSM articles it says the alleged killer lived 190m from the Adamson's home (adjacent street) so by measuring the distance in Google maps I worked out that it had to be one of three houses. Then today I came across this video (link below) at the Brisbane Times where the camera zooms in on a house while the reporter is speaking about the arrest just around the corner fom the Adamson's home. I checked the addresses I had that were 190 meters distance from the Adamson's and sure enough....

Man charged in Murrumbeena murder (01:40)

Another neighbour said Hemming’s parents, believed to be called Colleen and Leigh, left the family home they have lived in for 36 years earlier this week and have not returned.

The house is 190m from the Adamson’s family home.

I found this, Bazinga:

"Hemming, 21, also a Murrumbeena resident, appeared for a two-minute hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday, where he was remanded in custody to face a filing hearing on Thursday."

I didn't know what a filing hearing was so I looked it up (the internet is a wonderful thing!!):

"Filing Hearing

This is the first hearing in the committal process. At this hearing the Court will set a timetable for the exchange of information between the prosecution and the defence and dates for matters which will ultimately be determined in a higher jurisdiction. Applications for bail may also be lodged at this time."

How horrible when something like this happens to a family, I am glad that they found the murderer because I am sure many looked at their son as a suspect. It is hard enough to have your parents murdered but even worse when eyes fall on you. Hopefully justice will be done, even though it never is enough. Very sad when your not even safe in your own home. Very sad, we can try to protect ourselves against strangers but not all monster are strangers.

Thanks SouthAussie :seeya:

The sleuther in me is dying to know more about the accused :banghead:. Just a physical description of him in this article:

"The slim, fair-haired and unshaven Mr Hemming, wearing glasses, a white T-shirt and green tracksuit pants, sat quietly in the dock"

His behaviour is a little odd ....... IMO

After being remanded, Mr Hemming bowed towards Mr Lauitsen as he was led from the court.

Sorry if the answer is really obvious - but I'm just wondering what this means? BBM:

"Defence barrister Damian Sheales told Chief Magistrate Peter Lauritsen his client had no custody management issues"

Not sure, but I think it means that regular detention will not be problematic.

When looking for 'custody management issues', this article states that this person did have custody management issues.

(Note: the quote below is from a completely different case - it is not about Thomas Hemming.)

"Ann Valos, for Maes, said that custody management issues for him were a possible acquired brain injury and that he was on two types of medication."

Tom was neither socially awkward nor was he quiet.
He was a kind, generous, and loving person toward all of his friends, and everyone who was around him loved him.
This came out of nowhere for everyone around Tom. There were next to no signs, he wasn't weird at all, nor was he weird around the time it happened.
He wasn't anything close to a psychopath. He genuinely cared about his friends and family, and would go out of his was to do as much as he could for them.

I feel so sorry for the victims family, and for everything they're going through.
But Toms family cannot be left out of thought. I have never seen a family more broken and torn up about anything. These are kind, loving and overall just decent human beings. They dont deserve this sort of talk as them possibly having anything to do with what Tom has done, because they had no idea.

I do feel very sorry for his parents and the rest of his family. I can't imagine how they must be feeling. But when you say he wasn't a psychopath???

These two people were some of the nicest people you could meet, and it is unimaginable to anyone that knew them that they could have provoked such an attack in any way. The police described the scene many times as 'brutal'. This young man's (alleged) actions have devastated many many lives.

To kill two helpless people in their own home, in cold blood, with no provocation, is not the action of a kind, generous, loving person who isn't 'anything close to a psychopath'.

I'm sorry for you - as you obviously know him and his family - but this can't have come out of nowhere.

Thank you for giving us a better sense of who Tom is, KrysJames. :seeya: And I'm sorry to hear that this was such a shock for those who knew him. I truly send you all much love.

I'm also sorry if you feel that we've been disrespectful to his family - I'm sure that's never been anyone's intention here. I feel very deeply for his family as I understand this must be shocking for them. Any speculation has come out of trying to understand a motive for this crime, that's all.

I agree with what you've said, truthseeker. This can't have come out of nowhere. Nobody explodes like that without some warning signs along the way IMO.

Unless he just 'flipped' into a psychotic state.....Tis a possibility, but again, you'd expect prior warning signs.

I also want to say, that a person can have a mental illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar (or any mental illness) and still be a loving, wonderful person to be around. Having a mental illness does not mean the person is awful.

I agree, and I would never want to be a part of a fear-mongering campaign against those who suffer mental illness. They have it tough enough already!

I am both wanting, and dreading, further details about motive, mental state etc. I imagine there will be more information released during the process at some stage, but don't think there'll be much comfort in any of it.

These were warm, lovely people, and I still can't believe this has happened to them.

It is not normal to brutally murder a middle-aged couple. To leave their children without their parents and with the horror of their demise. To leave your own parents with such a heavy cross to bear.
