Found Deceased Australia - Ruben Scott, 2, Cape York, Far North Queensland, 4 June 2019

I wonder how mom is able to be so precise with the time she last saw him? 5:44 p.m., (not 5:45)

Maybe she had a timer on while making dinner. Maybe she saw little Ruben, then was distracted by the timer going off, and when she looked again, he was out of sight and sound.

Although odd, there might be an explanation for the precise timing.

Could’ve been a time stamp when she was on the phone.

Yes, at just 2 years old there would have been a specific reason why Ruben was left unseen for however long it took for him to disappear.
A phone call came in/a text message arrived/an alarm went off.

Most of these large stations provide meals for their workers. Perhaps there was a notification at that specific time that the workers were heading back for their dinner. And then a rush was on to get the casserole out of the oven.

It’s been almost 48 hours since Ruben Scott, a smiling two-year-old from Queensland, went missing from his family’s remote cattle station on Cape York Peninsula. His mum says she’s "trying to hold myself together" as police admit their fears are "grave". http://bit.ly/2Ir0ueD

We can’t help but worry about the two legged predators.

Police hold grave fears for a toddler who's been missing for two days on an isolated far north Queensland cattle station.
But Cape Patrol Inspector Mark Henderson insists police won't give up trying to reunite two-year-old Ruben with his family.
A massive air, land and water search has so far failed to find any sign of Ruben.
If he is still alive, he's spent two nights on his own and is facing a third after going missing from his home on Koolatah Station on Tuesday afternoon.

At first it was reported Ruben was last seen in the garage playing with a small black puppy. Any news on the puppy's location? If puppy is also missing and not barking/crying, I'm afraid that a predator attack crosses my mind more specifically. A croc (or a shark, pig, dingo) will definitely take a puppy as well.

This horrifies me even as I type it. I have a 2 year old grandson, and cannot contemplate what the family must be going through. Living in a place like that, surrounded by so much danger for a small child and animals, is not something I'd be willing to deal with. That's just me, and not meant as a judgment in any way. Certainly folks have the right to live life according to their personal desires, needs and upbringing. But dang... one would have to be on guard constantly, I'd think. At least, my paranoid self would be.

Possibly because I have been to Australia, and as a tourist we visited many places to observe wildlife in natural environment....crocs laying around along the river banks while on a boat tour, salt water crocs (huge!) in wildlife preserves, signs that proclaim the dangers of swimming in the rivers (stories to go along with it), so I am particularly sensitive to how scary that is. And after the horrible incident in Disney World, where a toddler was grabbed by a gator from the beach of a resort, in front of his parents, these horrors are too real. JMO.

Yes, the horrors are too real. And there is many a story about unsuspecting tourists and others being taken in our north country.

I can't help but think that Ruben was thought to be safe with his puppy in the garage, but somehow puppy then Ruben got out .....

hoping for a miracle today for little Ruben and his puppy

It is now nighttime here in Australia. I hope that they are able to take the opportunity to use the heat detecting drone with night vision, and that one of the warm spots down there is little Ruben.

The weather report says that it is a cloudy night there, high humidity, with a good chance of rain overnight.

In a desperate Facebook post, Ruben’s aunt Cherese wrote: “Come home baby please Aunty Reesey misses you we all miss you.

“Please if anyone up in Kowanyama or around the area see or hear anything contact the police. We want our Ruby home safe and sound.”

Helicopters and drones are now aiding search teams to try and locate Ruben, as hundreds of volunteers helped police and rangers.

His mom, Natasha Scott, described her son as the “greatest person ever” in an earlier post on Facebook.

She wrote on Wednesday: “As people way [sic] know my little Ruby has gone missing, I last seen him at 5:44 yesterday afternoon.

“I have every person that can help helping to find him. I understand all you guys are shocked and worried but please, try to hold back from messaging me.

“I’m trying to organise heaps of things to help find him and am trying to hold myself together. I thank and appreciate all you guys are doing for us, the shares help.”

Inspector Henderson said the search was difficult and they had begun to fear for Ruben.

"I guess it is coming to that time where the fears that we have for this young fellow start to become grave," Insp Henderson said via video on Thursday afternoon.

"But we won't stop ... we will continue to try and reunite that child with their parents and grandparents."

The boy's desperate family, police, State Emergency Service crews and some 20 people from neighbouring properties joined forces for the search on foot, horseback and motorbike.

I hope this baby is found. My parents had a choice Canada or Australia when they immigrated in the 70s. They picked Canada. I’ve always been upset by this. Until this thread. I’m in the travel industry so I know the animals and wildlife plus terrain is much different.
But holy smokes.

Gahhhh
I will freeze now in my igloo.

Due to my father's employment, we had the same choice when we immigrated to Australia many years ago. Canada or Australia.
We have lived in several areas of Australia and have never had a problem with the wildlife. The wildlife is beautiful, interesting, and interested. I live among kangaroos, koalas, and the most beautiful birds.
Australia is a HUGE country. As big as the USA. There is really only high danger in the "top end" where there are crocs. The top end is a very remote area, extremely low population ..... tourists are advised and advised and advised if they go there. It is not generally Aussies who are taken.
