No, you haven't missed it. The police haven't given out a lot of information. The reporters at the presser were trying to extract from the officer exactly why they are declaring Trisha's disappearance a major crime.

The weak reply basically was ... well, they had looked all over for her and couldn't find her so it must be a major crime.
There is probably a lot more to it than that, but the officer didn't seem highly experienced at handling a presser. It seemed that was his way to answer without answering.

The officer said that locals in Andamooka and Roxby Downs had been very helpful in providing information. There may be some backstory that is not being publicly spoken about.

According to this article it was midday the next day the vehicle was found, husband may have noticed she wasn't home when he woke up so went looking from then and finally came across vehicle at midday, seems pretty reasonable timing to report, especially since it doesn't say when he woke up or even when he actually noticed she was missing. But raising the alert when you find a car scene like rhat at midday doesn't seem unusual IMO
