GUILTY Australia - Tanilla Warrick-Deaves, 2, tortured, beaten to death, NSW, 27 Aug 2011

  • #81
November 5, 2013

The man accused of murdering NSW toddler Tanilla Warrick-Deaves claims the bruises found on her body were from falls and from tripping over.

Warren Ross, the boyfriend of Tanilla's mother, told police in 2011 the toddler had fallen off a trampoline, probably fallen off a cupboard and onto a bed, and that the large bruise on her head was the result of tripping on a protruding floorboard in her Central Coast home, a court has heard.

WHY am I not one bit surprised that THIS is his defense.....

Nothing in the news since 5 days ago. . I want to hear what that child bearer has to say..

There's a ton of new reports today. Deaves has started yapping.. Gods, just give me ten minutes alone in a room with this woman..

After Tanilla soiled herself, Deaves said Ross took her to the bathroom, where he held her by the hair under a cold shower and hit her head on the glass shower door.

"I told him to stop and he slapped my face," Deaves said.

-- Well boo hoo, Donna. That must've stung a bit, eh. Pity she didn't listen to her family, who seem to have at least a modicum of good sense:

Mr Ross moved into the home Deaves shared with her father.

Deaves said Mr Ross had ordered her father out of the house after an argument, and that her family did not approve of the relationship.

"When I went into the relationship, me and my family sort of weren't talking, I wasn't talking to my mother, my brother - they didn't agree with me seeing him," she said.

"He was fine at first and then it seemed to really annoy him. He was very angry about it - swearing at her, hitting her, calling her names, making her run laps."

Despite Mr Ross's allegedly violent behaviour, Deaves had decided she wanted to have a baby with him, having a contraceptive device removed from her arm so they could begin trying to conceive, the court heard.

-- I reiterate my previous statement regarding enforced sterilisation, as this does nothing to change my mind on that topic.

When asked what happened, Mr Ross is heard telling the operator that the two-year-old "fell off the cupboard" and hit her head on a bed frame lying underneath.

Ross has pleaded not guilty to Tanilla's murder and frequently shook his head during Deaves's testimony.

Yeah, waiting for this animal to take the stand now.. and try to deny the evidence against him by blaming the tiny girl he very obviously brutalised and murdered...

What is really bothering me now is that the media is using statements such as
A mother has told a Sydney murder trial she watched her partner relentlessly beat her two-year-old daughter into unconsciousness before her death
http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2013/11/12/i-tried-stop-it-dead-toddlers-mum

I know Donna has already had her day in court but now that it is Warren's turn it feels like she is finding a way to put the blame on him. They were both responsible for her death, and how Donna could sit by and let her own daughter be treated like this I do not understand.

Looking at this MSM made my blood chill. The mother's boyfriend is accused of the physical violence towards Tanilla BUT it seems DD did have some control as on one occasion the violence ended after she said ENOUGH!

Quote

Mr Coker said he heard Ross yelling "You poo in the toilet. You sit there. You don't move," during the whipping. It only ended about 35 minutes later after Donna Deaves yelled out "enough," the court heard.

Who, honestly gets/asks/wants/allows their boyfriend of months to toilet train their baby daughter?

Yeah bothers the heck out of me, too. I don't need a crystal ball to see Deaves using battered wife syndrome as a ploy to get a reduced sentence in future, either. I can see the machinations of it starting already.

For all her sobbing and wretchedness, she could have fricken picked her poor babies up and walked the hell away. But she didn't. Instead, she made herself good and fertile so she could pop out another little victim, fathered by the violent a-hole who was abusing her existing kids. Before watching him beat her child to death, and then watching that child take days to die.

My capacity for sympathy for that wretch is set to 0 by default.

Keep in mind also that Deaves got a reduced charge and sentence in return for her testimony for the prosecution, so it's in her interest to maximise Ross' role while totally minimising her own.

They're both scum who should never see the light of day again, IMO.

Thank you for this link jaime.. The article also reports...

The mother was sometimes SLEEPING during the altercations..

QUOTE..

She was forced to stand in the corner facing the toilet when she had an accident, and Deaves said she would sometimes wake up to find the little girl soiled and sleeping on the floorboards outside her bedroom.

When asked by crown prosecutor Erik Balodis how long these punishments would last, Deaves said she wasn't sure.

"I can't tell you because I fell asleep on some occasions," she said.

She also explained that she didn't cry after learning Tanilla was dead because "I don't really cry".

End quote

What child that is soiled, just falls asleep on floor outside her mothers bedroom?

Plus, how would DOCS know about these night time incidents? More credence should be given to neighbours and relatives. They need to spend time investigating. It could be a vindictive father but scratch a little bit and the cracks appear.

Or 'nodded off' in some other regard...

...or she's just that incredibly uncaring regarding her child being tortured.

Just for a bit of levity - my house is always nice and tidy after I visit this thread and need to burn off some anger -- particularly the bathroom. Take that, scum.

There is tidy (with no toys on display in use) which is odd and there the OCD cleaner. How can someone judge what is 'tidy' and normal? I think a broad perspective is needed.

Did this 🤬🤬🤬 expect a visit from DOCS and he/she knew they would only be concerned with the poop?

But Ausgirl, as you said before, she will be released before she has finished menopause. He can reproduce until old age. Hmm

Defence counsel, Sarah McNaughton told the court:

"This will be a difficult trial for everyone, and things may be more complicated than they first seem."

She said the girl's mother, who will appear as a witness, was also violent towards her children and that by cooperating with police, she had received a reduced sentence.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-29/murder-trial-told-tanilla-died-of-27blunt-trauma27/5053530

--- ah, the finger-pointing tactic! So classic. :propeller: But then Ross has clearly contradicted his own lawyer..

Ross said the only thing he ever did was push Tanilla's head up to tell her to look at him.

He said when Tanilla had misbehaved, Deaves would sometimes make her do laps of the hallway.

But he denied Deaves was abusive.

http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2013/11/05/dead-toddlers-bruises-falls-accused

Deaves had ''anger management issues'', the court heard, and had once told a friend she was incapable of feeling remorse. ''Unfortunately I'm different … because one of the conditions I have is, like, very little remorse. I will f---ing hurt you and I don't care,'' the 29-year-old allegedly told the friend.

The court also heard that Deaves eventually abandoned Mr Ross's version of what happened following a heated argument that was sparked when she lost his bong.

''We're finished! Do you understand?'' Mr Ross told Deaves during the stoush, part of which was picked up by a police phone tap.

''I thought it was in there,'' Deaves replies.

''I don't love you any more,'' he says.

Less than an hour later Deaves called police and told them she wanted to tell ''the truth''.

The trial continues.

--- More finger-pointing.. I'm betting his defence will use the bong incident to try to prove that Deaves is lying about Ross' abuse to get back at him. :vomit:

I notice, in the 000 call, Ross takes the phone and says Tanilla had fallen off something and was "black and blue" -- I bet that raised a few red flags right off the bat. It also shows what a moron Ross is.

OMG - just learned about this case... Enforced sterilisation - hmm - this case really makes me wonder why we as a society are wasting resources on housing, feeding and guarding these beasts in a prison. A lethal injection would be more appropriate IMHO.

33 (!) reports to DOCS - what's going on???!!! Send the police to do a drug test and remove kids in an environment like this at once.

Sorry if I'm offending or overreacting but repeated violence to and murder of a defenceless child really p..... me off.

  • #93
Good, I think a lot of people have had that reaction on finding this case.

And yeah, the fact that the abuse was reported SO many times just makes it that much more sickening. This poor baby was let down by everyone around her, everyone who could have and -should- have helped her.

And when I look at pictures of Tanilla, chubby little angelface, and her beautiful big sister, all my maternal instinct screams "I'd have loved and cared for them!"

I seriously and unapologetically believe that women jailed for serious child abuse issues should never be allowed around kids again, like an RSO, PLUS be sterilised to prevent further suffering.

But no... it's all about reuniting families, second chances and allowing scum like this to pop as many babies out as they want, once they're free.

So look ^ you're not the only one who gets ranty over this case, Good. :D

A dramatic recording was played in court of the triple-zero call she made shortly after finding Tanilla not breathing.

In it, a panic-stricken Deaves can be heard screaming, 'my baby's not fing breathing'.

Ross then takes the phone and describes Tanilla as 'black and blue' before he attempts CPR.

After the operator tells him they're organising an ambulance, he says, 'she's dying (inaudible) it's not fair'.

bbm :stormingmad:

And bruises take TIME to turn "black and blue", so she wouldn't have been that if she'd JUST suffered injury, and just one time. What a moron.

I truly, truly despise this 🤬🤬🤬 with every fibre of my being for blaming Tanilla for her own death and claiming she was clumsy.

Deaves said that after being kicked down the hall, the child picked herself up, struggling to remain conscious.

When asked if she helped the two-year-old to stand, she answered, "I didn't help my daughter up."

She said Ross then entered the bedroom and, finding Tanilla drifting out of consciousness, yelled at her to "wake her the f*** up".

"He still threw her on the bed ... She wasn't waking," she said.

"GOODNIGHT daddy, I love you".

They were the last words accused child killer Warren Ross claims two-year-old Tanilla Warrick-Deave's said the night she died.
---

Police allege Mr Ross attacked Tanilla because she failed to lock up the chooks properly.

The trial continues.

BEARING the name of his beloved daughter on his arm, the father of toddler Tanilla Warrick-Deaves wept as he thanked the Sydney jurors who yesterday found Warren Ross guilty of her murder.

http://www.northernstar.com.au/news/tanillas-jury-returns-guilty-verdict-murder-trial/2106125/

Warren James Ross accused of murdering two-year-old Tanilla Warrick-Deaves was declared guilty by a jury in the NSW Supreme Court on Thursday afternoon. The jury handed down its verdict in the Supreme Court in Sydney after a day-and-a-half of deliberations. In its ruling the jury said that the 30-year-old Mr Ross had relentlessly beaten the two-year-old girl, daughter of his then-girlfriend Donna Deaves, at her Watanobbi home on the NSW central coast in August 2011, leading to her death. He will now face a sentence hearing at a later date.

When Deaves was in the stand, Ross swore constantly under his breath and later made threats against her to a court officer, the trial was told in the absence of the jury.

Justice Stephen Rothman was urged to consider placing Ross in handcuffs while he was in the dock, but the judge decided against this.

On another occasion Ross winked at a witness who nodded back at him before she took the stand, furthering incurring Justice Rothman’s wrath.
