Wow. Thanks for the link.
It’s easy to imagine motives for a young hippie woman to kill a man, self defense or even some twisted crime of passion, but to kill a young girl leaves me with nothing, and then there’s the burning of their bodies which is often interpreted as an admission of guilt.
Police have said she was a “stranger” to the victims, and maybe she is for now, but I’m waiting for investigators to establish either a link to the property or perhaps to the male victim.

Either way, it looks to be a complex case and I wish LE the very best as they take the time to examine any and all possible leads. It will be interesting to hear about how the mention goes today.

For those looking to read a recent article without a paywall, enter the Daily Mail : @everybodhi

The deaths of Mr Mooney and his daughter were initially believed to be a tragic accident, however, post-mortem results saw detectives treat the incident as a homicide.

Prior to Olsen's arrest, investigators appealed to anyone who may have seen a white Holden Barina wagon with a distinctive solar panel on the roof in the area around the time of the fire.

Does anyone think the vehicle in question might actually be a 1997 Holden Combo panel van wagon? I have attached a picture of such a vehicle and it looks to be a bit more similar to what the accused was known to drive.

The link to the red vehicle featured in the attached collage (upper right corner and lower right corner of collage) is:

The accused persons Facebook account.

The link to the sample / white vehicle featured in the collage (upper left corner) is from an online car sales website:

Accused murderer KOs actual vehicle as obtained by police and reported in MSM is attached as a stand alone photograph.

(Apologies, I did originally try to combine the images in one collage but the server said the files were too big, so I separated out the police issued photograph. Thanks for your understanding.)

Yes, but they said she was a stranger to the "victims". So that would include the male victim.

In my mind, perhaps there was some confrontation between her and Todd.

Unless she just randomly decided to burn down a shed, not knowing anyone was in there.
But then police seem to be looking for some kind of a weapon.

Looks like plenty of open space surrounding the property. Maybe she intended to park there on her visit back to her childhood town. I imagine she would sleep in the back of the vehicle.

Maybe Todd told her to leave and things took a very bad turn :(

Maybe it will turn out to be where she had lived as a child, or she thought it looked like it was (except for the shed)

Or possibly she had a grudge against that poor young woman who has just lost her partner and child? Perhaps they had some sort of history.

Kirsten Leslie Olsen, 24, was charged with arson and the murder of baker Todd Mooney, 54, and his daughter, Kirra, 10, on Friday and has had her case heard in a Sunshine Coast court room on Saturday.

Ms Olsen is accused of lighting a shed fire on a Biggenden property, north-west of Brisbane, that was owned by Mr Mooney, on December 20.

Detectives say Ms Olsen lives an hour north of Biggenden, in Maryborough, but has connections to the Biggenden area.

Her matter was mentioned in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Saturday, and she is expected to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on Monday.

At a press conference on Friday, Detective Gary Pettiford appealed to the public for information or vision of a white Holden Barina van with a distinctive solar panel.

Police found that car burnt out on a Maryborough road and have recovered it as part of their investigation.

They are still appealing for information regarding the movements of the vehicle.

This morning Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard the mention of a 24-year-old Maryborough woman charged with two counts of murder and one count of arson.

The mention was in relation to the recent Biggenden shed fire, which cost the lives of a father and his 10-year-old-daughter on 20 December.

The woman will remain in custody and appear at the Maryborough Magistrates court on Monday 9am, 9 January.

No application for bail was made.

T F :

Do you by any chance know if the accused had to enter a plea today or was it a mention solely concerned with a bail application?

If she didn’t enter a plea today - would she be expected to enter one on Monday?

Thanks in advance.

...and 7th November? I don't have a subscription to Cairns Post newspaper to confirm the November date. Are the Court lists accessible somewhere else?
Yes she was supposed to appear on 7th of November too.

It’s interesting that the neighbours house wasn’t far from their house. If someone was home surely they heard something. The house is also just off the highway

So far I haven't come across any mention of her entering a plea.
Maybe that will happen on Monday.

Yes she has a matter listed for Nov 7, 2022.

Here is the link. It is behind a paywall but I have checked and her name is definitely listed.

The Maryborough Sun
I am not sure the truth to this, but in the comments on The Maryborough Sun Facebook they are saying she was known to them. Having worked in Maryborough for many years, most people know one another so it’s possibly true. Plus she worked in Maryborough pubs for a few years.

"Police had been searching for her white Holden Barina wagon, which was later found burnt out alongside a trailer and caravan.
Police allege it was set alight on the same day as the fatal Biggenden blaze."

If you look carefully in the photos you can see cars still parked in carport, so I’m assuming robbery may not have been the motive

Biggenden community rallies around family of Todd Mooney and daughter Kirra, found dead after shed fire

When tragedy strikes a small country town, the ripples are felt throughout the community, but it also brings it together.

In the rural town of Biggenden, 300 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, residents are still reeling from the grim discovery of the bodies of local baker Todd Mooney, 54, and his 10-year-old daughter Kirra Mooney in a burnt-out shed two weeks ago.

Kristen Olsen, 24, will appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court tomorrow, charged with arson and murder.
