Isnt car 53 a bus - perhaps a tourist bus?

  • #182
Why do you think sleep?
Could #53 be the car in question?

There was a bus in that position, maybe they have already spoken to the driver. Although #33 looks like an Airport shuttle so you would think they would have found them easily enough.

eah, why overseas. Unless they think someone flew out - but that's a long shot for peeps overseas to know - unless they have someone in mind?

Cairns is an International Airport. Easy for a tourist to return home to wherever they came from.

unless 53 has already come forward and identified their vehicle?

I think tourist buses are hard to escape from! we took one from cairns to Daintree. Unless someone disappears, i think they might rule it out & that is why they didn't bother with #53? Unless someone drives along the route in an empty tourist bus - with no passengers? It's possible.... Could be a tour operator just making his way home due to lack of passengers?

Homicide detectives have renewed their calls for information on Cairns woman Toyah Cordingley's murder.

If you were travelling along the Captain Cook Highway at Clifton Beach between 5:02pm and 5:07pm on Sunday the 21st of October and see your car in this video- please call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000 or call Police Link on 131 444.

Still interested in why the highlight on car # 57. Hope this shows the video above as i have no link... it's at around 2 minutes 10 secs

im wondering why the focus on clifton beach, did she visit someone there, does the killer live there?

I believe this is where there would be the best cctv and they’d be able to use cctv from both servos at Clifton beach given they are so close to the hwy. this is not the case for any other spots along the hwy. I’m a local

There was a Bus between 52 and 54 - but that's no reason to leave out a number.

Could the bus be relevant as it looked like a hotel transfer bus (with the trailer), so being a very touristy area, it's possible the perp is from O/S.

On the video it states that it is the corner of Clifton Beach Road and Captain Cook Hwy. But I don't think it is. It looks like the corner of Endeavour Road and Captain Cook Hwy. There is a shopping centre there with a servo right on the corner. The red jeep looks to be driving out of the shopping centre which shares the servo road in/out.
It is the corner of endeavour road and the hwy. I’m a local so I’m familiar with the area. Perhaps the reference to Clifton road is that the cars pass Clifton road between 5.02 and 5.07 and that is the time and area of interest

It's quite possible that car #57 is co-operating with police, and they are interested in cars surrounding it? Just diverting attention? IDK. Can anyone recognise the make/model of this white car they have highlighted?

is car 57 shown again when we see the red jeep turning out of the corner? seems strange to highlight one car, unless the light was bad in that shot?

Maybe. It's travelling in a direction we haven't seen much of (from the footage).. further south by at least 20 metres. But the sun should not be setting at around this time. good point tho, but perhaps other reasons? IDK. Maybe the sun was lowish

Or maybe they are interested in the red car ?? - a diversion? I can't think of me why they would highlight that car... unless it's curious, or something is happening near by?

I'm inclined to think that if they suspected one of these cars in particular, they would have broadcast a smaller number--say five or ten. Like, the Jill Meagher footage showed a handful of passers by, and I believe all but the suspect came forward; Ristevski case, footage of about five or six cars was shown. I think police are really looking for witnesses, and given the narrow time frame, witnesses to something in particular that was there to be seen where the cars would have passed.

Interesting thought about the phone pinging.

I thought it was because, if the red jeep is a focus, number 57 gets a full view of the drivers face given his (the jeep drivers) window is down.

further thought....it may also be because it is quite a crammed shot, so the highlight makes it clear 57 is that car.
