I'd like to see the best homicide detective in Australia invited to look at Toyah's case files.

Who could that be?
Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin?

If Toyah was buried then her clothes might have been buried closeby so I'm hoping the cadaver dogs were bought in the check the surounding dunes.

Toyah was found quickly and above the surf waterline so any disturbance of the sand would've still been there.
Say, drag marks, tyre tracks, foot prints, cigarette butts.....
If it was dry sand all the prints wouldn't have been perfect but they should have shown car tracks, the width of the tracks (vehicle type), amount of foot prints and if there was a camp site around.

Police are closing in on the killer of a 24-year-old dog walker who was found murdered on a secluded beach more than a month ago.

After weeks of scouring the sand dunes of far-north Queensland's Wanghetti Beach - where Toyah Cordingley's body was found - authorities now believe they have uncovered 'several items of interest'.

The focal area of the investigation has shifted from the beach to Lake Placid and Caravonica, about 30km south of the murder scene.

Their presence 'does directly relate to the (homicide) investigation', a spokesperson told Cairns Post.

In particular, police are cyclists who rode in the area late in the afternoon to reach out.

I suspect "police are cyclists" is a DM misprint for "police ask cyclists".

I believe it’s called “root cause analysis”, and these dysfunctional relationships with mothers (particularly when it comes to neglect, witnessing sexual behaviour, brutalisation etc.) are an issue in the same way as when male children witness domestic violence in the home and go on to become offenders themselves. Now if we could all just work out how not to screw up our kids, voila! No rapes or murders! Or we could just hope that blaming men, after one has committed the crime, will magically fix the issue...

I did try to reply to something earlier - about this. went to edit, forgot, went to shop, it was all stuffed & my comp crashed - don't try it at home :D But yer, my point was - how about dysfunctional relationships with the father, bullying, trauma, parental alcohol & drug abuse, neglect, separation from one parent, death of a parent, the list just goes on... Can't blame the mother for "most" of them, i wouldn't think JMO

So here we are, six weeks into the investigation and I'm wondering where this is heading.
As they say in the classics 'things are looking grim, Jim.'

I have been hoping the police are building a case but do they have anyone to build a case against?

'has any injuries that can't be accounted for'
those bare scratched arms at toyahs memorial service, we can assume police have identified and accounted all that. ??o_O

Do you have a link to where you can see someone's scratched arms at her memorial service? I can't find anything.

I just watched that heartbreaking video again, where Toyah's mum talks about their family, the moment they found Toyah, etc.
In that video, at about 6:28 she says "Snake, Jack and I made the decision to see Toyah one last time, so I could get some closure saying our final good byes. We went together, and we were glad we did even if it made me more confused and less wanting to accept this reality."
I now wonder again about Toyah's condition when she was found by her dad and about her injuries. I always had imagined that she must have been disfigured, maybe beaten in the face violently or something like that. (Poor Sophie Colombet who was violently murdered in Brisbane a few years ago, basically beaten to death and left in a total mess, by that guy who was high on drugs comes into my mind here). I think I thought that because it was said that Toyah suffered "violent, visible injuries" and her dad sad that "she was messed up". It doesn't fit with Vanessa saying, seeing Toyah made her more confused and less wanting to accept this reality. That sounds more like injuries elsewhere. Not the face/head. It sound like Toyah might have looked like she was sleeping when they saw her in the morgue for that last, sad goodbye.
So, maybe no killing by someone high on drugs, not even remembering what he did? Something very personal maybe? Someone who thought he loved her, but killing her so no one else can have her, but leaving her beautiful face intact? What are your thoughts about this?
