On the hypothesis that Toyah's killer was at the markets, this leads to three main possibilities :

1) Toyah was possibly sighted and stalked from the markets to the beach . Take into consideration that she collected the dog in between the markets and the beach.

2) Toyah possibly was sighted and stalked at the markets; Person stalking overhears Toyah telling someone in conversation that she was going to take her dog to the beach later, in general friendly chatter. Person stalking decides to go to beach upon hearing this.

3) Toyah possibly stalked at markets, witnessed getting into her car then the killer recognises the car at or passing the beach carpark later.

___

All of the above are purely theories / speculation / IMO. I do not exclusively believe that Toyah's killer ( or killers) were necessarily at the markets, nor can it be ruled out.

I enquired with Rusty's Markets regarding dogs, they said there is a "no dog policy". This confirms for me, that she went home got changed, collected the dog and went to the beach.

I agree, she could have been stalked form the markets, home and then to the beach. If it is someone known to her, they could have been aware of her movements from the house. Still so many unknowns.

Does anything in particular make you think she changed clothing? ta

It has been suggested in articles. Also from the images on instagram she appears to walk on the beach in beach wear/bikinis so I am making an assumption about that. Also, I thought about my own experience... I know after a morning working at a market I would get changed for a physical/leisure activity. So just my opinion but I believe that is what may have happened.

Did they find her car keys ?

I’m thinking if you are used to walking a dog with no phone reception there, the only thing you’d take is your keys.
The personal items police are looking for might be sunglasses, clothes and hat.
No shoes are worn on a beach.

Yes, when walking the beach & given the area's high temps (& therefore want for a swim?) I would think she'd eventually be wearing swimwear, esp if she was there for a bit before this tragedy struck... true, she likes to walk along the beach in her swimwear I noticed too. Wonder if her dog swims? Anyone got a mixed breed dog like hers? I imagine, with her love for animals, it would probably be offleash for a while - it's curious the dog was tied up MOO

Yes it's possible. Is this a veiled clue? I'm sure the police know what she was wearing. The panicked men sound like a reasonable lead - let's hope her killer/killers are caught soon. So unfair, like so many... :(

That's what the Police have stated.

If they don't know what she was wearing or what she was wearing was different to what she had on at the markets, then it's possible they found no clothes.

when i walk my dog, i still take my phone cause sometimes i get reception along the walk. Yep, i also take all that - sunglasses, hat, (sometimes leave clothes in the car). Perhaps a water bottle JMO. Poo bags. I find i need to take a bag to carry this stuff... I usually take a towel, but it may not be needed up there due to being much hotter

Or they found these clothes in her car? It then makes them wonder what she was wearing on the beach? Just speculation & MOO

They said while the two men didn’t seem to have any visible injuries, they were skeptical of their story.
The men claimed their tyre puncture had occurred on the road’s tarmac but on assessment the witnesses believed it to have been endured on rougher terrain.

The witnesses said the men, who appeared in their 20s, drove off towards Cairns after they helped them successfully change the damaged tyre.
Men seen 'really freaking out' near beach where woman was found dead

Great point BB, esp if heading south (rougher terrain up north for sure, where they could have damaged something?) . If they were seen heading south, i wonder how far south they would go (if the culprits), perhaps they would go south-west. Was their vehicle make & model advertised? I don't think so...

Plus, the witness said they looked a little worse for wear & paranoid/skittish. Drugs?

Why would two men need help changing a tyre?

This is a dreadful crime. Take a dog for a walk and get murdered. Sadly, Toyah crossed paths with a monster.

My feeling is this will be a tough case to solve but there is some positives.
Most people are murdered by someone they know, even if they have known the perpetrator for a short period of time.

Three things solve crimes:
Physical evidence.
Witnesses
Confessions

Are there any witnesses? If the answer is no then physical evidence is needed.

Why aren't some people the police want to talk to coming forward?
The investigators will know a lot more than they are letting on but not enough to make an arrest.
There are many good posts in this thread.

I have wondered about this family + 2 kids. What if the are largely off wifi or phone coverage? They just meander on their way, with no clue whatsoever cause they don't check the news? heading into remote WA for example or Far north east QLD. Going up into the cape is well known for no reception...
