It comes as The Cairns Post published images of a man masturbating on Wangetti Beach in broad daylight.

A bystander, who took the photograph, said: 'After we took some photos, we noticed him down on the beach, he was butt naked, just flogging himself off.

'Then he just kind of jumped up in the air and ran into the bushes, and that was the last we saw of him.

'We hopped back in the car and mum goes, "I can't believe that man", then I realised, hang on a minute, I've actually got a photo of him.'

The image was taken on September 1, six weeks before Miss Cordingley, 24, was found dead on the same beach after an alleged sexually motivated attack.

Police told Daily Mail Australia that it was one of the many leads they were currently following up.

Public share stories of perverts on the same beach where Toyah Cordingley was murdered | Daily Mail Online

wow, could a "women's murder" be a fantasy of this perp, & he acted upon it (first time, or again)? Strange behaviour to say the least. Strange but not uncommon. 6 weeks suggests he is a local or a traveller milling around for a while..?

Yes unsavoury behaviour, however if the beach is as isolated as described, perhaps he thought he was alone. It does not sound like he was spying on swimmers and pleasuring himself. When I was younger my friends and I went to a beach after school in W.A, there was a man in the dunes watching us and he starting playing with himself. I went straight to the police who said he was a serial offender and would follow girls after school. Perhaps if there are more complaints and a history of this man doing this, then it would paint a picture I would be curious about. However it could have been a lonely, bored guy who was trying to relax by himself on the beach (rightly or wrongly).

This happened to me & my girlfriends regularly - on a beach in north Wollongong during school sport. It was a local spot for this type of behaviour. No one was murdered however, except Cheryl Grimmer (RIP) many years before. I guess these guys have various motivations & actions? I think a lot of people can recall a sand-dune man - i wonder how many of them go further?

Update 6: Wangetti Beach homicide investigation - Release of CCTV stills - Queensland Police News

Police investigating the death of 24-year-old Toyah Cordingley have released CCTV images of Toyah taken on Sunday, October 21 near Rusty’s Markets.

The vision shows Toyah crossing at the intersection of Sheridan Street at about 12.40 pm.

Detective Inspector Sonia Smith said the CCTV was being release in a bid to jog the memory of any members of the public who may have seen Toyah at Rusty’s Market on Sunday and who have not yet spoken to police.

“Toyah was wearing light coloured crocheted singlet top and carrying a large striped colourful bag when she was at Rusty’s Markets and she was there for just over half an hour.

“It is possible that Toyah changed clothes after leaving the markets.”

Police have also released an image of the 2009, blue, Mitsubishi Lancer sedan driven by Toyah, which was parked in the southern car park at Wangetti Beach on Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for the update. So haunting to see her. Her car has easily identifiable number plates, the reason why I have never gotten personalised number plates.

its interesting they say she may have changed clothes, does this mean they dont know what she had been wearing? was she clothed when found?
also in regards to the flasher pervert on the beach, im not sure if these people are ever found to be violent but i guess there are always exceptions?

Most beach nudists are not flashers per se, and have no intent to enroach on other persons in any way (so I don't mean to lump such people in the same camp as flashers).

As for flashers (typically male individuals who deliberately expose themselves to people and often performing a lewd act or state of arousal), there is often a pattern of escasation of behaviour if the person is never caught.

Such escalation is very similar in escalation from more covert behaviour such as peeping toms and theft of underwear from clotheslines, etc.

no, of course, nudists arent flashers,
i didnt realize flashers/peeping toms behaviour escalated, thats worrying,
there was one in my neighbourhood, police said dont worry theyre relatively harmless!!

I'm sorry to alarm you! Not all people who do such things are destined to progress to assault and worse, but it seems that for some offenders, beginning with certain perverted behaviour is a slippery slope.

I thought I read somewhere that her body wasn’t clothed or with minimal clothing when they found her but I’m not sure where I read that.

That was me & my family just last year. We hired a car & drove north to daintreee along this stretch. Was a plethora of camper vans everywhere...

That’s what makes it a needle in the haystack. It could be anyone, a crazed Aussie or any walk of life doing the trek up the coast.
Even those who never see women in bikinis and those who might disagree with women dressed like this. IYKWIM.

Hi bearbear I disagree with the police on that.
My cousin’s son has mental problems & when he was young was manageable but now he is in his late teens he masturbates in public at every woman he sees and has smashed up shops and bashed managers when he doesn’t get his own way. There’s nothing the police can or will do because there’s no facilities for him.
This young man is a ticking time bomb & will be on the news one day. Mark my words. How many others are around?

Look at what happened to Eurydice Dixon.
Victoria Legal Aid lawyer John Riordan said it was Mr Todd's first time in custody and stressed his vulnerability in that environment due to his youth and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

From the Presser it sounds to me like the attacker was injured, by either Toyah or the dog.

Let’s hope there is a clear picture emerging, Inspector Sonia sounds the real deal, there was comments about some violence at the scene, probbaly have DNA from scene, and the asking of people to look out for somone whos banged up a bit, and doesn’t have the clothes thay had on Sunday last week is a good line. It would be likely they have had to dispose a of their clothes. I would not like to have her after me. I’ll back her to get a result. Someone should be getting nervous by now, perhaps they have even told someone....
