Perhaps the person had a vehicle on the beach and Toyah tried to run away bushwards to where the vehicle couldn't easily follow.

It looks like there’s plenty of places to hide and there’s bushland close enough to the beach. I can’t get any sense of where the road is though. Fingers crossed we hear of an update soon!

I keep logging on hoping there’s been a breakthrough. It’s so frustrating

If this murderer was not known to Toyah or her circle then it could be that he/she may never be found.
So many living off the grid up there and travellers from the four corners of the globe will give police daunting task.
More so than William Tyrrell, it could be anyone out there.

It seems police have stopped looking for that family? Have they found them and being tight lipped or what?

One thing I’ve noticed on reading again is that the family they’re looking for was in a sedan! That isn’t really a holiday vehicle like a caravan and the police say “two girls”. How do they know that?
Surely police can track a mobile device in the car perhaps?

Original quote from 30th October:
"We continue to search for a man and woman with two young girls who were seen picnicking at Wangetti Beach prior to 1.20pm on Sunday. “Initial information suggests they interacted with a couple and their dachshund (sausage dog) in the southern car park, and that the dog attempted to hop into the family’s sedan. We’re hoping this piece of information may prompt their memory.”

Good pick up. I had read this too.
At one stage, because of their persistence in seeking this family, I thought the police were actually looking for more information on the couple with the dachshund but disguising it as a search for the ‘family’ lol crazy theories...
I ended up dismissing that idea as a bit ‘out there.’ along with another idea I had that Toyah might have been attacked by someone else’s dog.
I decided the police were more about getting info about who they might have seen on the beach or in the dunes at around that time.
Sure hope there’s news soon of an arrest.

I think this one has been posted before. It’s quite short and worth a watch :)
I believe it to be the south end of Wangetti looking south IYKWIM. The north end has a cliff top car park area I believe.
There are evidently no ‘dunes’ as you might traditionally think of them (mountains of sand) but sloping beach and sandy area just bordering directly into the scrub. There is a little estuary too, you can see it in the vid.
Yes that has been posted earlier in the thread... is it sad I know that? haha been on this thread since early on :P
it is interesting terrain, over to the west of the country we have a lot of huge dunes so I was a bit surprised when I saw the landscape.

Many tourists fly to Cairns then hire a car. So could account for being in a sedan. Caravaning is more common with older couples and usually in July/August.
It is frustrating we aren't getting answers we need. Let's hope there is an arrest soon. All so sad.

This article appears to have a photo of where the recovery was being done. Family and friends farewell slain Queensland woman

True but I’m just saying they may not be tourists. They may be local to NQ

If our cops have DNA then, it might not be tomorrow but one day either the murderer or a member of his family will slip up with the law and then he’s gooone.
That’s no resolve for Toyah’s family & and friends but technology and time will get this/these low life bastards.

I really hope there is a breakthrough soon as this turd does not deserve any freedom on our streets.

I peek into the US crime of Abigail Williams and Liberty German, two girls who were murdered on a walking trail several years ago now. LE have DNA but alas he has not been found. I find this extremely sad and sincerely hope Toyah’s & Nicole Cartwright’s murder and others are resolved soon.

To the parents of the victims must be like the slowest death imaginable. My heart goes to their loved ones over and above the sweet dog.

Found Deceased - IN - Abigail (Abby) Williams, 13, and Liberty (Libby) German, 14/The Delphi Murders 13 Feb 2017 #85

Australia - Nicole Cartwright, 32, found dead in park, Hunters Hill, 03 Oct 2018

Re Ernest Knibbs. He’s out, but he is old. Surely too old?
In one article I read it said he was known for being itinerant, and camping out. He was subject to a supervision order upon release in Brisbane but that was 5 years ago. Wonder how long they go for.
I read he was in an aged care facility in Brisbane . . . if so, it should be easy to rule him out (or not).
