So in reference to the Thomas Hemming case again - as he was officially diagnosed with Aspergers - the judge handed down sentence today and amongst other things said this:

The judge said Hemming's Asperger's, which was not normally a syndrome that caused people to be violent, did not reduce his moral culpability.

Which is exactly what I'm saying about Tostee. Even if he is diagnosed as being on the Spectrum, his behaviour following Warriena's death demonstrates that he knew right from wrong (just like Tom Hemming's post-murder behaviour) and having Aspergers doesn't mean that Tostee should be absolved of any part that he played in Rrie's death.

Another thing I noticed in the judge's remarks about Thomas Hemming, which made me think of Tostee is this:

..... lack of remorse made him an 'exceedingly poor prospect of rehabilitation.'

'You remain incapable of feeling any empathy, sorrow or regret for your fellow human beings,' she said in court.

ETA footnote ... A friend of the Adamsons (Hemming's victims), Andrew Masters, said .....
'There was some suggestion that Asperger's limited his ability to feel for the victims, but I have Asperger's myself and I feel plenty for the victims,' he told reporters outside court.

So, November 18th for bail hearing. Will be watching with interest.

I'm going to take a safe bet that he won't get bail. He was already on bail/waiting for court for the police chase wasn't he? And given his immediate actions following Warriena's death I don't think a Judge would grant bail.

Uh, O/T but Amee that avatar is wonderfully tragic! Lol. And Isis, you're in on it too? You guys have lost it. Did you see Ron Moss at the Melbourne Cup with his man-bun?

Another news report from last month, but this report from NZ Herald clearly notes that the date 1st November was the cut-off date by which all the police brief of evidence is to be delivered to the defence lawyers.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11340562
Police must hand over key evidence in their case against an Australian man accused of murdering Wellington woman Warriena Wright within two weeks, a Queensland court has ordered.

Kate Clark, the lawyer for Gold Coast man Gable Tostee, 28, asked magistrate Kerry McGee in Southport Magistrates Court today to order police to hand over part of their brief, including transcripts from audio recordings and other analysis from Tostee's mobile phone as well as a copy of Ms Wright's post-mortem report and more than 50 witness statements, within two weeks.

Ms Clark said she was seeking the partial brief of evidence amid fears it could take up to five months for some evidence to be produced.

Ms McGee agreed to the request. The rest of the police brief of evidence must be delivered by November 1.

Boy, this guy eerily made me think of Tostee!! I could imagine a person like Tostee buying a ticket to the 'seminar'.

So glad that protesters have basically run him out of the country, and that his visa has been cancelled! :cheer: :fireworks:

Controversial US “pick-up artist” Julien Blanc has been forced to cut short his Australian tour when his visa was cancelled following a comprehensive protest against his seminars which promote dangerous and abusive behaviour towards women.

“We can confirm Julien Blanc left Australia overnight,” Victorian police said on Twitter. “His assistant is also due to leave shortly.” The pair had planned to stay until December.

The immigration minister, Scott Morrison, said Blanc’s visa was cancelled Thursday night.

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Ken Lay added his support to the widespread condemnation of Blanc, labelling most of his work “deeply disturbing and offensive”.

“Labelling women as objects and actively promoting the abuse of women degrades the dignity of our whole community,” Mr Lay said in a statement earlier today.

“We want to assure everyone that we have been paying close attention to this issue and appreciate that so many community members have expressed concern.

...go Aussies. :australia: Too right this lot needed to be sent packing.

Pity we can't do the same with resident undesirables. Pack 'em into ships and sail 'em off to Britain, I say! What goes around... :D

Bail hearing to go ahead tomorrow (Nov 18). Earlier in the day the report mentioned that there was doubt it might go ahead with Tostee's lawyer Mr O'Gorman saying he was uncertain and that the application was a "work in progress".

You know in the cartoons, when the guy walks in with a list of stuff on a great big scroll and he unrolls it and it unrolls and .. unrolls and .. and unrolls... and so on... and so forth.. et cetera. et cetera... until it's about 300 feet long?

O'Gorman in my head is so that guy.

Lawyers for Gable Tostee, the 28-year-old man accused of murdering New Zealand woman, Warriena Wright, on the Gold Coast in August may not proceed with his bail application in the Brisbane Supreme Court tomorrow.

The hearing is still listed for 10am on Tuesday, November 18, but Robertson O'Gorman, the new firm appointed by Tostee following his first bail hearing had thrown the application date in doubt.

No medical files about Mr Tostee's alleged autism condition, nor any additional documents have been filed for Mr Tostee's bail application since the appointment of his new lawyers.
