Ms Ryan said a condition that Tostee report regularly to a police station would not be practical.

“It would be contrary to his interests if he were required to be at a police station at a certain time each week because then it would be possible (for people) to know his whereabouts,” she said.

She submitted the accused would stay off Tinder and alcohol if bailed, would live with his parents and would be subject to a 6am-6pm curfew.

However, she submitted a Facebook ban would not be practical.

Mr Power said bailing Tostee to live with his parents did not necessarily remove the flight risk.

“The father’s active involvement with avoiding police in the night is ... a significant feature and not a promising one.”

Oh, I hope not Amee! It would be a terrible blow for Rrie's family. I hope the judge considers the way Tostee evaded police and how his father helped him evade police, and how the potential remains for evading prosecution.

AND the total denial in the conversation with his father....'duh I didn't do it dad'. 'Of course not son, let's go for a drive, pizza anyone?'

He can't possibly get bail!
Didn't he run from the police at high speed and road spikes where used to stop him possibly killing someone?
He's been physically and verbally abusive to police and has been barred from clubs in the area, ah come on it's gotta be impossible!
This guy is out of control, he'll put his parents into an early grave.

Not to mention, they even tried to subdue him with capsicum spray ... and he still took off like a wild man. I don't think a little thing like bail would stand in his way from fleeing.

My guess is that the judge has adjourned until tomorrow so that precedents can be reviewed for keeping him IN jail. :jail:
And as he is soon to be (likely) jailed over the police chase - court case in January IIRC - why let him out now?

He said Tostee had fought with police, who sprayed him with capsicum spray to no effect before he embarked on a high-speed chase.

He said Tostee was likely to be jailed over a New South Wales police chase.

"..... but interesting revelations about the victim’s toxicology report were revealed today.

Mr Power said the toxicology report was significant because there was evidence the victim was highly intoxicated by a “white spirit” which had been “home distilled” by Tostee."

Not to mention that Wrie kept saying she didn't want any more to drink. And that it was awful.

She said a medical examination found Mr Tostee was suffering from anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and alcoholism.

Ms Ryan said excessive alcohol consumption was to blame for several run-ins with police, including an incident when he fled NSW police in a car at high speed. He then wrote police a letter weeks before Ms Wright's death, saying the incident was a "wake-up call".

Prosecutor Ben Power told the court the dangerous act was locking her out on the balcony with no sensible route of escape.

Mr Power said by doing so, he deprived her of her liberty.

"The dangerous act was shoving the victim out onto a fourteen-storey balcony and locking her out there," Mr Power told the court.

"He had a choice of whether to allow the victim to leave. She was pleading with him to let her go.

"He, through that act, deprived her of her liberty.

"Manslaughter looms at least as a very strong possibility."

The psychiatrist said Tostee was not suffering from an autism spectrum disorder.

:yesss: One less avenue for the pile of "poor me" BS Tostee has been skating by on for oh.. probably his whole wretched life.

I'd love to be outside of court with a bag of week-old buns to chuck at O'Gorman and his weak-as-p :censored: tactics, moaning about the media. If Tostee gets out on bail - yup, after all his shenanigans and daddy's pathetic enabling - , there's something terribly fricken wrong with our legal system is all I can say.

Isisrising will be so relieved to see that!
Lmao, I thought that too!

Now let's hope Tostee and his <modsnip> stay in jail, until they make him stay in jail for much, much longer.

Well obviously there is a conflict between the media and civil rights. I don't see that as piss weak tactics. He is using Tostee to drive home an important point. At the end of the case O'Gorman will probably have a friendly drink with Power.

hmm I have a feeling he will make bail! :gaah:

I feel for Rrie's family :candle:

This could really go either way. Seems to me the judge is of two minds whether to grant bail or not. It wouldn't surprise me if it is granted.

Weighing up the pros and cons should lean more to him not being granted bail, especially after hearing of his disorders as well as his previous charges....which aren't petty charges by any means. I'd think he'd be a danger to the community if he was allowed out.

He knew he had a problem. The recordings were made because of blackouts (by his own admission on the forum). I am angry at him for having had several wakeup calls from the police and continuing this destructive behaviour. I am angry at his dad for harbouring him and for not registering any surprise that Gable was recording girls. I am angry that, if released on bail, his father will continue to harbour his misogynistic son, who has no organic excuse for his behaviour. I accept that the jails are overcrowded, but surely there are better candidates for bail than GT.

Accused balcony killer Gable Tostee's lawyer Terry O'Gorman slams media outside court, saying they are 'poisoning' his chances of fair trial

In my opinion, O'Gorman tends to go over the top with his grandstanding about the media. The media does have rights whether he likes it or not. They are at liberty to publish whatever the judge ok's.

Obviously O'Gorman is using this case as an exemplar to challenge the ethics of the judge.

Quite honestly, if I were the media I would just quit publishing these statements made by O'Gorman. The court is the only place where he needs to take up his fight with the media.

I think that the media only publishes the comments because they know that O'Gorman gains very little public sympathy with his comments - when they are made in regard to the liberties of people who do not uphold another person's liberties themselves.
