I have never, ever in all my years going out on the town and still to this day, been asked to leave a club because I was not buying alcohol. I just don't get it, just don't get it at all.

It impossible. A designated driver isn't there to drink.

Alcohol made Gable Tostee 'ashamed of himself'

Mr Tostee also said he was drunk during an incident at Surfers Paradise in January when he was involved in a dispute with police over an unpaid tuk-tuk fare.

His father Gray also submitted documents to the court, in which he said his son's alcohol usage began increasing after he turned 23.

Thinking of beautiful Rrie today, as everyone prepares for Christmas. It will be an especially difficult time for her family and friends.

Sending them every good wish at this time. May they feel stronger knowing that many, many people will be standing right with them when justice for Rrie is delivered.

OK I will come out and admit it now. I know Warriena's mum personally. She wants to let everyone know she is overwhelmed by the support that has been shown to her and Warriena's family within the community of this forum alone. South Aussie, I did a screenshot of your comment and forwarded it to Merzabeth and she is extremely touched by your kind words. Their family is very private and that is why they have remained so silent all this while.

And also, I found out that Warriena is about 5'5" so THP was very close in his guess about her height (he said 5'6"). I am pretty sure her height has never been reported anywhere in the news so far (correct me if I am wrong) so it will be interesting to find out how THP knows so much about everything!

Yes we are behind Warriena and her family. <modsnip> The important thing is that Warriena receives Justice.
Rrie, as her family called her, comes across to me as a sweet and cool lady. She loved animals and wasn't afraid to confront authority for the sake of the vulnerable. The world could use more like her.
Lending my support here is about the only thing I can do for her.

What a lovely post, SouthAussie. And that's a pic I've never seen of 'Rrie, what a beautiful smile she has.

BBM I must admit to having a soft spot for a fellow animal lover. Just to remind everyone how awesome she was:

Rrie was a passionate animal rights activist who once wrote to Parliament appealing for tougher penalties for animal cruelty offenders. "This is something I strongly believe in, and seeing how people in New Zealand treat animals has truly made me ashamed of this country," she wrote in a post added to the Government's website in 2013.

"If someone murders an animal or tortures an animal I believe their punishment should be the same as if they had done this to a child."

Her passion for animals was shared by her younger sister, Reza, whose social media pages are filled with photographs of the two with their treasured pet dogs.

Right, after a rare and wonderful sleep brought to an abrupt end by a spectacularly awake-early puppy bouncing on my head...

Slinki, I am so glad Warriena's family is aware of how much we care. I really am. Thank you so much for being here, and for passing it all along. SouthAussie is so great at wording the sympathy we all feel. I'm more your ranty kind, so I am glad she is so and sums it all up so beautifully.

^ And *that* is why they'll insist on the tape being heard. Without it jury will see only "dead girl, man covered in scratches" and even the probably manipulated recording, which might very well promote less culpability than there actually was but still proves assault and deprivation of liberty , is better than that. For him.

Since the cops are saying it'll take so many months to gather their case, I have to wonder if forensic audio is part of that... I really hope so.

Dear Alioop --- I know you said it'd likely be a question for jurors etc, but if this tape was excluded, what are the most likely grounds for that happening?

Hi Ausgirl, I don't think the tape will be excluded. I think the prosecution are obliged to present it to the jury because it is a recording of the circumstances of her death. The jury will make of it what they will. They will be given a transcript but directed that the transcript is not evidence only the audio. The transcript is just to assist them. Unless there is evidence of it having been tampered with, I believe it would be admissible. It was made lawfully by the accused, he had the legal right to record his evening and did not need anyone's consent.
It's not going to be an issue unless the accused challenges the admissibility of the tape. It doesn't seem at this stage that he will but it's very early days and things change.

Dear Allioop, I posted about this I think in Thread 2 or 3, and it is to do with the concept of 'priming'. http://forensictranscription.com.au/priming/
<modsnip> It sounds like the transcript that finally gets used in the trial would really need to be prepared by experts, if not it can be deemed unreliable - as I gather that is why there were so many versions of the transcript flooding the media - as each had their own version of what was said.

Dr Helen Fraser, forensic phonetics expert has written a bit about the "dangers" of unreliable transcription. I am no expert and I suppose this is why the jury will be cautioned that the real evidence is the audio, not the transcription.

Here is a beautiful pic of Rrie and their dog "Puppy" whom she obviously loved dearly. I absolutely love this photo because I feel it truly captures the essence of who Rrie is. Puppy passed away in June this year (he was 14 years old) and not much longer than a month later, Rrie died. I asked Merzabeth (Mum) for permission to share this with this Community and she had said yes. This will be the last time (I promise dear Marly) and from now on all my posts will be strictly referring to the case. This World lost a beautiful soul on August 8th 2014, and the circumstances surrounding her death are so painful to accept by all who knew her. May her memory live on.

Rest in Peace Warriena 🤬🤬🤬.

A picture says a thousand words. Pretty sure that's a long haired dachshund - beautiful dogs. Friends and family must have been ever so proud of this delightful lady.

Awww .... Puppy. May they both rest peacefully together. :rose:

Makes it so hard to think how Tostee could just run and leave this beautiful girl laying crumpled below his 14th floor balcony - after pouring glasses of his strong liquor saying "c'mere, have a drink" and she told him how drunk she felt (in the first 5 minutes of that recording), after assaulting her, after depriving her of her liberty, after striking great fear into her - with no calls for help and without displaying a moment's concern for her.

Dear Slinki….my daughter and I baby sat a miniature short haired dachie last weekend - we didn't want to let little Nacho him go home. We are fierce animal lovers ……we have a british bulldog called Basil …. the daschie and bulldog together looked like the ying and yang of the dog world. Basil somewhat looks like a cement mixer on legs !!! Thank you once again for sharing this picture. Animal lovers are very special people in my opinion.

There is a US case on WS, about a pregnant wife who 'accidently' pushed her hubby through a 17th floor window when they were arguing and she was assaulting him .. he fell to his death. She got 25 years for that, despite having a young child by the time she was sentenced last year. The assault on him prior to the accident made it a murder charge, as opposed to manslaughter.

Just wanted to mention that, as I thought it was interesting, and it shows how violence prior to a death like this can change things substantially.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...r-aid-prosecution-alleged-balcony-murder.html

The US administrators of Tinder are being pushed by Australian authorities to aid their search for more than 50 women from Australia and overseas who were allegedly contacted by Mr Tostee via the app.

Bail documents indicate that investigators are pursuing statements from the women and have requested data from both Mr Tostee and Ms Wright's Tinder accounts, reported The Australian.

I hope they found these women to give statements.

BTW The pic of him in this article is scary especially his statement underneath (love thyself)

View attachment 65940

statements from the "more than 50 women" will be interesting if the comments of 9 Gold Coast women are anything to go by :notgood:

'Woah that's so f***ed,’ one woman replied to the news that Warriena Tagpuno Wright plunging to her death after meeting Mr Tostee.

Another replied: 'You would remember him hun, everyone in the [nightclub] industry does'.

She added she 'always’ thought there was ‘something not right about this guy'.

Another participant recalled: 'Honestly I've had so many run ins with this guy.'

Yet another said: 'Omg!! I remember this dude! He was sooooo weird. Him and his mate would go home and change their shirts half way through the night.'

'OMFG. I met this guy on Tinder four months ago,' wrote another participant woman, before detailing her an encounter with him.

I am now reading back the thread seeing I have been AWOL for a few weeks. The blood toxicology results on Warriena will dispel or confirm all these speculations on additional drugs in her system. In saying that, there has not been a single report in the Media regarding her ingesting any drugs (aside from alcohol). On the point of her having a hallucinogenic episodes however, it is possible that excessive levels of alcohol in her body could have led to her acting strangely in the manner observed.
Upon some further googling on the subject, I trampled on this site which covered a bit on alcohol-related hallucinations. http://alcoholrehab.com/drug-addiction/hallucinations/

Alcohol Hallucinations
Alcohol-related hallucinations are a relatively common occurrence among people who are acutely intoxicated, or those who are undergoing withdrawals from chronic alcoholism. These hallucinations can be scary for both the person who is experiencing them and for those around the person affected. In the case of alcohol hallucinations, they will subside once alcohol consumption is discontinued or the withdrawal stage of detoxification from chronic consumption occurs. In some cases, the hallucinations will occur when alcohol is consumed at later times, but in the majority of situations this does not occur.

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/que...th-gable-tostees-lawyers-20141203-11zeeg.html
Police claim toxicology results will show Ms Wright was drunk at the time having drunk home-distilled vodka, however there was no clear evidence that Mr Tostee was impaired.

My opinion is that if the home-distilled brew in question had higher than ideal levels of impurities (ie. by-products of the distillation process), it could potentially have contributed to aggravated symptoms of intoxication as the ingester's body will treat all this as poison. The situation can also be further exacerbated if the ingester had not eaten a proper meal prior to drinking high quantities of alcohol.

I'm not sure how this works, did the trio keep the $30,000?

Mr Tostee is known to police, masterminding a $30,000 Schoolies fake identification racket in 2004.

Mr Tostee and his friends Ryan Lee Sara and Jeremy James Stahl produced at least 500 fake 18+ cards, which they sold for about $60 each, before they were caught.

The trio was placed on probation but a conviction was not recorded.
