Rise and fall of flawed hermit Gable Tostee caught in fatal web of sex hook-ups

He’d made a few close friends
He lost his friends
For years he lived like this, tucked away at his computer.
And then, in 2010, he ran into an old friend at a restaurant
The weekends out continued. More phone numbers. More rejections
On Australia Day eve he approached around 20 girls before one kissed him. Phone number. Rejection.
He’d taken her into his bedroom. He’d wanted to take things further but she resisted. He tried again but she told him she was leaving. He couldn’t understand

"rejection"

Gable Tostee was ‘struggling in prison’, court documents reveal

NEWLY released court documents have given a glimpse into life behind bars for accused balcony killer Gable Tostee.
In an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court, Tostee claimed he was “struggling” in prison and was spooked after a fellow inmate found his way into his cell, the Courier-Mail reports.
The tradesman said his anxiety had worsened while he was in prison, and feared it could affect his bail application.
“I accept that the stress of my situation will exacerbate my symptoms but I am very concerned that as the months pass by I am becoming more and more distressed and unwell,” he wrote.
“My memory concentration and ability to prepare my defence are all deteriorating over time.”
Mr Tostee also said he was “concerned about people in custody gaining access to my cell area in protection” after a man claiming to be a “family friend” entered his cell.

What a frightening thing to be held against your will.

Toastee was the big man on the recording dominating, torturing and tormenting Rrie but bullies can never handle having it thrown back at them can they? <modsnip>

 Yes .. frightening ... to be in great fear of what might happen to you because you are locked into a small area.

He said hi. She agreed to come over. Hours later she was dead." :(

What I don't get is why Toastee thinks that other men would also be on his side. Most other men are completely appalled and don't want to be lumped into that creepy, murderous category.

I agree Tarjessi. Men are often more scathing than women!

Hey guys we've seen many crims go for a long long time haven't we. :D

I don't think we've ever backed the wrong horse yet have we?
100% success rate.
Baden-Clay had no witnesses to Allison's murder & he's goooonne....and Tostee has witnesses to the abuse and the terrified screams from Wrie.

So what do you recon how many years???

Even though I would like longer, I think he'll get 15 to 20years - Parole maybe after 10.

Tostee has social anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder which he said was getting worse because of his time in prison.

'I accept that the stress of my situation will exacerbate my symptoms but I am very concerned that as the months pass by, I am becoming more and more distressed and unwell. My memory, concentration and ability to prepare my defence are all deteriorating over time,' he wrote

Tostee is so much like Elliot Rodger due to his super misogyny. You know all of us (because apparently all WS members are female - sorry fellas) here speaking out against the misc way must be so infuriating to the brahtherhood. At least Elliot was honest about being a virgin and that no woman would touch him. I can understand why...arrogance makes the skin slimy...ain't nobody interested in that. I seriously doubt Toastee's claim of bedding 150 women. I would say the number might be closer to 5. His social ineptitude is so obvious in the way he writes about and refers to women that I doubt he could charm very many at all.

I agree. I think he was just making up stories to impress the other guys. Were they telling the same sort of stories? I'd check the forum myself, but it just sounds too repulsive.
He wasn't doing very well trying to pick up girls at the clubs, was he? They thought he was creepy and he got banned. Maybe more women will testify, we'll have to see.

I question the charges they've made. They're saying he killed her by putting her out on the balcony, and she had no other way to escape so she tried to climb. We know there were neighbors listening. If she called for help, someone would have called the police. Also, if he threatened her again, they could have yelled back that they heard it all and the police were on the way. For that reason, I think he might get off. She had options. Maybe she forgot how high up she was. I'm also reminded of the girl on the cruise ship who tried to climb over to the adjacent balcony and she fell overboard. Maybe that's what she was trying to do, but that's not what the police were saying.

They're not charging him with murder by throwing or pushing her off the balcony. The police say he wasn't on the balcony when she fell or jumped. I don't understand these charges. In the USA, they would go for murder 1 with lesser charges included. It just doesn't look like a good case from here.

It should be very interesting when they get to the actual testifying.

BBM - The neighbours weren't actually listening - they were woken by the noise.

In documents filed in the Supreme Court, residents living below Tostee’s Avalon Apartments home have described waking to the sounds of furniture crashing, heavy objects being dropped and a woman shouting “no, no, no”.

But how does a person try to climb anywhere with their feet pointing away from the building and their back flush against the building? All their climbing equipment .. hands, feet, arms, legs, elbows .. are facing away from the climbing surface.

Yes, I read about the neighbors, on the 13th and 12th floors directly below Tostee's apartment. They were looking up and saw her feet and legs dangling. They were right there.

Those windowed walls are probably reflective. Maybe she was fooled by them in the dark, and thought there was another balcony right there. I'm really troubled that she was only out there about 30 seconds before she went over.

That poor girl.

What's with these women who decide to climb over high-rise balconies after being DRAGGED around an apartment.

The defence had argued Ms Harnum climbed over balcony after Mr Gittany dragged her inside their unit.

But a forensic specialist failed to find her fingerprints on the railing or glass balustrade.

Justice McCallum told the court the lack of fingerprints was a "relevant piece of evidence".

sounding familiar?

Neighbours tell of 'afraid' woman's screams for help before Lisa Harnum's death fall from city block
THE neighbours of Simon Gittany and Lisa Harnum heard an "afraid" female voice screaming "please help me, God help me" just before her fatal balcony fall, the Supreme Court heard today.

Just because the cases are similar, doesn't mean they happened the same way, or the outcome will be the same.

I don't think anyone's accused Tostee of being stupid. Copying a failed murder/defense would be just that.

Well.. they have. :D His terrible behaviour doesn't exactly spell out "SMART" to me. Repeating it time and again actually implies the opposite.

There's different kinds of smart, tho. High IQ (if this is not, like the 'autism' a total lie) does not make him intelligent in a well-rounded way. Like Rain Man (without the autism!!!).... he might be good at some things within a certain limited set of skills, and totally inept when it comes to making sound decisions outside of that range.

That said, I don't think it's about the cases being identical. But they do have certain similarities that are of interest. Mainly: a sociopath plus a balcony, equals a nice woman's life cut short.

THIS.

The witness statements *prove* she wasn't climbing. Even though one witness in the early interviews said she thought Warriena was 'climbing' she also says her legs dangled and her feet were facing out, and she (and her flatmates) could not figure out what Warriena was actually doing.

I've seen plenty of people 'climbing' things. Buildings included! And if you see somebody outside a balcony that high off the ground, your first thoughts are going to be "OMG, they are climbing". But then the witness SAW things that did not compute with that idea (the feet, the dangling) and it truly puzzled her to the very moment Warriena fell. She states many times in interviews that she could not work it out, how strange it was, etc.

I believe that's because she'd never seen a woman forcefully dangled off a building before. May she never see another.
