Yes but there was coverage at the house wasn't there (just) and if they drove towards town it got stronger .. etc.

Telstra (Australia) Cell Tower Map

If they drove North they would have driven straight into another tower with signal also.

This is a very anecdotal example, but at my previous rural property our mobile phone signal was appalling. I could still get text messages but actual phone calls would drop out. Considering that the text sent by MFC to FFC on the day of his disappearance got through, even if phone reception is bad, I believe the ping is still quite accurate so long as data packets (inc texts) can be sent. I could be wrong. IMO only :)

Considering the media have always respected the privacy of the FF, I trust

Same, we are rural and it is completely random .. sometimes I will get a text days after it was sent other days I can take calls no problem. However, if I got to the maps function I can see my location on it.

I don't know. It may have been patchy or useless depending on which provider you're with. (Remember Vodafail?)

Good point. You'd think they would be grateful if this might uncover "the real perp" considering their beloved Jubelin didn't find anything of significance and didn't solve the case.

Are we talking about the bios?
No gratefulness expressed from either camp.

I know a guy who lives up Kendall way on a sizeable property. Because of its geography, his mobile service is non-existent and he relies on his landline for phone. He investigated solutions for the mobile but decided they were too costly. He says he works his mobile hard when he goes into Port Macquarie.

I posted recently about the Bio mothers response to the recent revelations, she seems distraught, as you would imagine one to be in this horrible situation. You can check my post history for a link @winterberry ;)

Thanks for the link. (Cook looks awfully shifty in that photo. Caught at an unfortunate angle. :) )

While trying to understand why the FFC might have been so angry about the case becoming a 'cold case' if she was wanting to fade from further investigation .........
the point could be made that she wanted to keep the case going for the attention she received. Of course, that was only for the attention in interviews with those who showed heartfelt empathy and provided her with the opportunity to keep her story of the events of the disappearance of William in the forefront. I wonder if she is wishing it went to cold case now

Unless they find bones, I don't expect any update until 15 tonnes of muck are sifted through.

What I'd really like to know is: what is the "new information" that triggered this latest extensive and expensive phase of the WT investigation.

This is a really interesting point. I think you're right. IMO.

But I would also add that she was perhaps pretending to do what one would expect a grieving loved one to do in this situation, also.

I find the FM's over the top emotional language and drama to be histrionic, if you compare it to the BM's very genuine interview with Mel Doyle, it's night and day.
It could be both. IMO only.

I'm starting to wonder if it was just the alleged assault of the FD, possibly caught on surveillance?

I think we will find out at the coronial inquest resumption.

From what I understand, there are a lot of legal complexities on reporting on this case because of several reasons. Firstly, the legislation around the ongoing coronial inquest, but also, threats of litigation from various sources, IMO.

The daily mail seem to be posting more than Aus media, I wonder if this is because the journos in Aus are having a legal minefield reporting what they know? IMO.

It could be argued that if the FM is in any way complicit, then she would prefer the whole thing to quietly die down over a period, with maybe occasional media references to it on anniversaries, etc.

On the other hand, the Where's William campaign supporters would be wanting to know why she did that.

Even if it did fade away from public view, as we know cold cases are reviewed by police from time to time and sometimes with great success, so there would be no rest for the wicked, so to speak.

Hello, I would be grateful if anyone could advise me when the Chris Smith episode was aired as referred to earlier today.

Thank you kindly in advance ;)

Good point. They have received a LOT of money in donations for William's campaign. They are accountable to the supporters. IMO

I think i read somewhere that there was a legal stoush and that the donations were being funneled through the Daniel Morcombe foundation? I could be wrong. IMO only until I find a link.

William's foster family led $141,000 search before persons of interest
