inquest adjourned:

Counsel assisting Gerard Craddock SC said that the inquest had already uncovered new leads.
"As a consequence of the evidence called here, there has been a witness who we had no idea about who has come forward and is speaking to police," Mr Craddock said.

The new witness possibly related to Frank Abbott...

Following the March 2020 adjournment there was a new search in Herons Creek a few months later...

"Police officers on Monday scoured an area of bush on the NSW Mid-North Coast as part of a new search in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of William Tyrrell.
Riot police and SES crews were assisted by sniffer dogs in the search of area around a large rural property on Miles Drive at Herons Creek, parallel to the Pacific Highway".

At the resumption of the inquest in October 2020 the inquest heard from witness Anna Baker...

"A boy’s scream was heard coming from bushland near where Frank Abbott lived shortly after three-year-old William Tyrrell went missing in 2014, an inquest into his disappearance has heard.

Anna Baker said she was tending to strawberries on her Herons Creek property on the NSW mid-north coast in September 2014 when she heard a child scream".

"The inquest heard on Tuesday that Baker learned years later that the bushland behind her place had been home to Abbott. That new information prompted her to report the scream to police. The coroners court heard the convicted criminal was widely regarded in the community as a creep and a danger to children".

Extracted from this quoted post: "I could swear that earlier, FGM was reported to have stated that FM had taken photos with her phone, as opposed to a camera, imo."

JMO - Why did FGM say FFFC took the photos on her phone? It would have been understandable if she had said that she didn't know what the FFC had used ...... especially as she was sitting there reading her newspaper.

I am not sure when that was said. As far as I can tell, that is an opinion. I just did a quick google search from the 1st 3 years and I am not finding that info.

Possibly it was erroneous info? Or perhaps it was an assumption because so many people take photos on their phone? Or perhaps FM took photos on both her phone and the camera at different times?

I think at the very start of the case, we assumed the photos were taken on a phone - until we learned they were taken by camera.

imo

It could be the reason. The coroner didn’t give a reason. That’s why I think it’s wrong for anyone to state anything as fact. Moo

"Deputy state coroner Harriet Grahame told the court today that the matter would be adjourned in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19, with a directions hearing to be held at some point in the future."

SouthAussie - Would someone from the NSW crime commission be at the initial inquest? Is that at all possible?

Just thinking if they were at the inquest and then thought a detail that was said didn't add up and they then conducted their own investigation and hearing. So then establishing a lie/mistruth? MOO

I only know that the police commssioner (from 2017 through 2021), Mick Fuller, sat on the board of the Crime Commission. I posted the link further back.

A Crime Commission hearing could have been facilitated by him. imo

(Mick Fuller retired in April, and now works as a consultant for PwC Former NSW Police commissioner Mick Fuller to join PwC as partner )

ETA: Here is the link again, about the police commissioner holding a board position with the Crime Commission (which makes sense imo )

JMO - I wonder why FFC said at the Inquest that she took three photos?

"At 9.37am, William’s foster mother took three photos of him appearing “spider manned out”, she would later tell the coronial inquest, with the pictures becoming the key image associated with public awareness campaigns pleading for members of the public to come forward with information."

Would a "police informant' possibly be someone wired up by LE?
I guess we need to wait and see what unfolds but IMO this will be the officer that is in charge of the investigation & laying the information for the charges (informant) and they are not being named because the investigation it is a Crime Commission matter. My understanding is the informant (as in the officer in charge of the matter) can also be the witness.

I don't know.

One thought I had about that, some time ago, is that they only wanted to reveal the front of the spiderman suit (no-one knew the back was white and the underarms were blue, until the 5 photos were released, and the planted suit found by PS was spoken of). Because the police wanted some hold-back info.

So the 3 photos that only revealed the front of the suit, or certain parts of the suit, were spoken of.

Notice how the police ID board (that was shown to the public) only showed the front of the suit?

Considering that article is more than 12 months after the Coroner released the additional photo's, I would assume the article is incorrect. IMO

I agree Lemony, that the police informer is more than likely the OIC

This is from Victoria, but one could assume it's the same in NSW IMO

I’m not questioning the day of the photos just the time of them. Moo
I was replying to a poster who said it could be any day or photoshopped

Did she say that? Was it in the walk through?

To my way of thinking, there's a difference between informer and informant. Informant tends to be used to designate an official in court proceedings and informer tends to be someone who comes to police with information.

As we know, police often cultivate informers, and they can be high level criminals (e.g. Lennie McPherson and Neddy Smith in Sydney).

It will be interesting indeed to learn who the informant is ... if indeed that is to be made public.

I think I've only seen "informant" reported, not "informer". eg here: Police informant to give evidence in trial of William Tyrrell's foster mother

IF the FFC used her own photo, taken "minutes" before little W "disappeared", for a loud campaign (perhaps destracting from herself), I can well understand, why grandma <modsnip> hates this whole spiderman thing.
