drsleuth, does the book 'Badness' address the upcoming Hearings for charges against MFC and FFC (Assault, Stalking, and providing false and misleading information to the NSWCC?
Yes

Extracted from this article:
“Mr Jubelin has no problem with an inquiry probing into how he handled the investigation while he was at the helm and admitted his calls could be a double-edged sword.
What's more important is to get answers to what happened to William.”

JMO – It would be great if an article such as this could supply some information as to how, if Mr Jubelin is successful in calling for a public inquiry, that could contribute to solving (getting answers) what happened to William.

As Jubelin is still invested in finding those answers for William’s Parents, I wonder how he is currently going about that, apart from calling for the public inquiry into the handling of the case?
I can't see that he can do that much more than calling for a public inquiry, as he is a civilian now.

He is even putting his own reputation on the line by doing so.

Three years on, the former homicide detective remains heavily invested in the case and has called for an external inquiry into how the investigation was handled, even if the findings are damning against him.

IMO - doesn't sound like anyone that would be afraid of what was reveled about their work.

Jubes was on the Ch9 Today show this morning. They did a little background on William's case, and Jubes' removal, then he sat and chatted with the show hosts.

There was also some beautiful, happy video footage of William having the best time.

Jubes is fully aware that it is a double edged sword in calling for a public investigation, but he feels that after 8 years we all need to know if everything that can be done has been done. Transparency.

And he feels that the police dragged him back in by publicly criticising his investigation.

(I have to agree that a year ago the announcements made it sound as if the outcome was a fait accompli. And here we are today .... just swirling rumours and innuendo.)

He says that now he is out of the police force and working for the media, it gives him a different perspective.

Gary Jubelin calls for external investigation

I find it interesting that the title of the book coincides with the subtitle of the Underbelly series on the Perish case featuring GJ.

Apparently the book is about a variety of cases.
They were joking on the Today show about the cover photo being a photo of 'that alley'.

Don't ask me what that means, as I didn't watch Underbelly. But I got the impression that it was from the Perish case.

JMO - Understandable that Jubelin wants to earn a living, and publishing this book could be part of it, and will contribute his opinions with the knowledge he wishes to impart.

Fortunately, his opinions are those of the lead investigator for 5 years. And Hans Rupp has given his similar opinions.

"Rainwater tank ... we checked that"
"FGM's car ... forensics were done"
Etc, etc, etc.
(Not that there is a problem with the police re-checking. But it would have been worthwhile for them to add that they were re-checking. Instead of trashing Jubes for the work he had done. imo )

Jubes co-wrote both of his books with Dan Box. So I imagine any profits go two ways.
Dan Box being a most excellent journo who previously worked for The Australian, before he moved to London.
Dan (and Greg Bearup) wrote the best article ever about William's disappearance. imo

Gary's new book Badness is dedicated to William Tyrrell

Postscript page 335

Also on first page

For William Tyrrell

26.2.2011- v

Also interesting is that the FGM's car was taken for forensic testing days after William disappeared & nothing was found.

Badness by Gary Jubelin with Dan Box, page 266
Oh no!! What a huge mistake for Jubelin to make ...... he has incorrectly stated that William's birthday is in February! Imagine all of those books printed with such an error!

William's birthday is actually 26.6.2011!

Maybe just a typo by Drsleuth, I doubt it was copy and pasted directly from the book.

Sadly, it is in the book …. In the EBook anyway … But I don’t know about the hard copy ????

Either way, it doesn't change the outcome or William's age when he disappeared. And it is not like it is on any headstone, so the simple typo can be fixed in the next reprint of Jubes' book.
Publishers usually do a smallish run of a first printing of a book.

Who knows at what point it happened. In the writing by Jubes and Dan. In the proof reading. In the editing.

I don't think it is an earth shattering thing. imo

As my mum always said, it is the thought that counts. And I am sure the people who count (William's family) will appreciate the dedication any way.

"William Tyrrell homicide cop makes a MAJOR blunder in tribute to the little boy in his new book after being ousted from his job after illegally recording a suspect

The homicide detective who led the investigation into the disappearance of William Tyrrell has been slammed over a shocking error about the missing toddler in his new book.
The detective has now dedicated his new book, Badness, to William, but it lists his birthday as being February 26, 2011 - his actual birthdate is June 26, 2011.

'Absolutely gobsmacked to see that old Gary Jubelin has put the wrong date for William's birthday in his so called new you beaut book,' an eagle-eyed follower of the case wrote on social media.

'Goes to show how dedicated he was if he can't even get that right.'

Daily Mail Australia has contacted both Mr Jubelin and his publisher HarperCollins for comment."

A case of "the tallest trees catch the most wind".

A case of "the tallest trees catch the most wind".

Or "tall poppy syndrome".
The man can't do anything without being picked apart. People wanting to bring him down.
The fact that he has spent much of his life, as a peace officer, trying to keep the NSW public safe matters not a whit to them.

imo

Pretty sure most people would be roasted for such a careless and prominent error. Star detective or not, he is not above the law, he only has himself to blame for flouting the rules and getting himself kicked off the case. He may be right in calling for this inquiry, but I find it distasteful to use it as a way to publicise his book.

The DM is such an embarrassment. They are now using nasty quotes from random social media users. A printing error does not equate to his dedication to William or his case

Was just thinking the exact same thing, Lola. Takes the DM to publish nasty SM comments from unnamed sources.
The DM, apparently, calls that 'news'.

I’ve just seen who actually posted that comment. That same person is now sharing the article fair and wide.

Nah … imo Mr Jubelin is not regarded as a ‘tall tree / tall poppy’, at least not by the public.
If he was that in the Force & he was ‘cut down’ due to that, then in my opinion his best avenue is to be humble & genuine in his new life. .. stop stirring the pot <modsnip> about stuff he can no longer do anything about. My suggestion would be to focus on building a new life / career where he can get value from the value he provides ( perhaps that’s not as an Author )

Probably Harper Collins and The Sunday Telegraph would disagree with that opinion, as well as 60 Minutes.
They see his value, built by many years of police and investigative experience.

Good on him for calling for a public inquiry. He is in a position to be heard.

imo
