The presumption of innocence is a great thing for the court to adhere to. Yet many many Australians have had much to say about our court system in regard to lenient sentences, legal loopholes etc.

To solve crimes I'd rather stay on the Police side of things - Guilty until Proven Innocent, first by evidence then by a court of law.

Well as we know the judicial system is usually not skewed in favor of the victims. It's all about the criminal's rights it seems in a lot of cases i have followed. Judicial systems are by no means perfect, but its all we've got.

The police seem very interested in bs from my humble perspective.
No other poi to my knowledge has been as throughly investigated as he has.
As for the historical charges, it just adds to the speculation surrounding him.
after 3 years and still hadn't been cleared as a poi says a lot.

Of course people are entitled to their opinions on WS, but i don't think we should be making up our own facts, IMO. If BS is guilty he will be convicted by a jury of his peers. If he is found not guilty he is free from all charges. The presumption of Innocence is a big deal, as the whole judicial system is reliant on it.

I reckon ole BS might be very good at storytelling, IMO. Not in Shakespeare's class, of course.

If you take the whole historic case in its totality it is questionable IMO. There is room for BARD, considering the circumstances at the time from what i have read. Whether BS did those things i have no idea, but it will have to be proven in a court of law to secure a conviction or he will be acquitted. And that's all i'm saying.

So local rumors are to believed over what is said in MSM. Websleuths does not run on rumors.

Local rumours are apparently to also be believed over what a lawyer has told a judge in court. A judge who can easily access records and ensure that it is the truth that Spedding is in custody awaiting trial.

Not being cleared as a poi after 3 years says actually nothing, since if the man has no iron-clad, provable alibi for that specific time/date that would rule him out without a doubt, and the facts on what happened to WT are not yet known, it is impossible to clear him... as well as probably many others. IMO, the many others would also include one or more of the FPs themselves. Just saying it isn't meaningful that LE haven't cleared him. JMO.

This is a little confusing to me. It is not meaningful that the police have not cleared Spedding. And it is not meaningful that the police have cleared the FP.

So, presumably, if the police did clear Spedding ... that would not be meaningful either?

That is the million dollar question.
Is he in custody? Msn says he is.
Is he in custody/remand because of something to do with the current charges? ie a bail breach.
Or are there new charges? If so I guess he will have to seek bail again?


Crown prosecutor Craig Everson said the prosecution would rely on tendency evidence between the two alleged victims and other allegations not the subject of charges on the indictment.

Would he have had to obtain bail in relation to the Victorian charges? What happens if you have to attend a hearing in one state and the court of another state doesn't want you out on bail? Might there have been some arrangement for him to be in custody in NSW on account of the Victorian matter?
