There is a lot that does not add up in this article.
1. Spedding was asked to repair the washing machine because grandma was expecting stayover visitors. (Sort of urgent job)
... his grandmother told repairman Bill Spedding she was expecting a stay-over visit from her family and could he fix her faulty washing machine.
2. But Spedding claims he wasn't meant to be there on Friday, even though he received the part the previous day.
..
Mr Spedding has claimed to relatives and police he was never due to visit Kendall on the day three-year-old William vanished, September 12, 2014, and was simply calling to say the part needed to repair the washing machine had arrived.
3. Yet he did a job, apparently, Friday afternoon.
...
It is understood Mr Spedding performed a separate repair job at a home in Dunbogan, roughly 14km from Kendall, about 2pm on the Friday William vanished.
4. He would have wanted to go to grandma's place that morning, because he had footy on the weekend, and a job in the afternoon a fair distance from Kendall. If he was any good at planning, and keeping his customers happy.
....
He said he was “relieved” when he could not reach William’s grandmother by phone because he didn’t want to perform the repair over the weekend and wanted to take his children to their football game.
So, one would think he would be bouncing up on Friday morning, and heading right over to grandma's, part in hand, before the noon assembly, to keep his weekend free.
Makes far more sense to get the further (from his home) job done in the morning, head back to the assembly

, then go to Dunbogan, then home.
