Now, that would be very interesting. Those girls definitely deserve to tell their story, if that's what they want to do.

So, in reading a bit about injunctions of this type, it seems it would take a judge well versed in defamation to oversee the matter.

This is because it would be the invasion of (their) privacy that a person is trying to stop.

And it is the freedom of speech that a media outlet would be wanting to defend.

I wonder if any high profile figures (clergy, for example) have tried to do this about an historical child sex case.

On the subject of Legal Aid. Can you get it in a state in which you do not reside?

The short answer is yes, apparently. If you meet the means test and other requirements.

There is a forum test (we should have one of those here ) and then "the grant of legal assistance is the sole responsibility of the legal aid commission in the State or Territory in which the action is to be taken."


Interstate matters

All legal aid commissions in Australia have entered into a ‘reciprocity agreement’. The agreement is used to decide which commission is responsible for making a grant of legal assistance to:

a person who lives in another State or Territory
a person in one State or Territory whose legal proceedings have been transferred to a court or tribunal in another State or Territory
a person who moves interstate but whose legal proceedings have not been transferred interstate
a person who moves interstate and whose legal proceedings are also transferred to that second State or Territory.

When I am reading more about this, it also seems that it can cover all types of matters - if approved.

Civil, criminal, and family law seem to be included.

Though I think there is a ceiling for the amount they will spend. I seem to remember them balking at paying top legal expenses in one of the cases we followed. They only have a certain budget, and it seems unfair to spend it all on one or two people, when so many people need legal aid.

Plus Spedding has a cool $100,000, doesn't he? That he offered for bail surety at one point in time. One would think that would disqualify him from Legal Aid. Until it runs out.

Bill Spedding had the means, motive, and opportunity in this crime. That has yet to be disproved. In any capacity.

And quite honestly, I have yet to hear a theory on this thread, that delivers any resemblance of facts, that accounts for another's potential guilt in this crime. Just 'could be this, might be this, maybe is this'.

I am open to other decent theories, I am not open to remaining generically open.

There is a child abductor and potential murderer out there, roaming free. I think the police know who it is. I think I may be right on the money with this one. If not, some serious other theories that are potential and probable likelihoods could be put forward. Instead of trying to pick apart a pretty strong theory, with factual indicators, that Bill Spedding is behind this crime.

I agree Bear, you would think surely some evidence or a slip-up... .but then it was years before we got an answer / arrest in Daniel's case.

when all be information was published, we realised how long they worked to get everything they needed to nail Cowan undesputably. . And IMO, we will eventually get the answer in regards to William

I felt that Jubelin was simply trying to 'hurry' the inevitable when he very publicly warned the perpretators. IMO that the Task Force knows who's responsible, they just have to play the waiting game now to ensure that WHEN they do make that Arrest, there will be no chance that it will fall over.

I can't believe that $1 million hasn't seemed attractive to those who do know. I'm sure they could also negotiate Witness Protection / new identity / relocation ... whatever they would feel would help them. ... I wonder if the play the Lotto / Lottery ??
