It is believed the vehicle belonged to Tony Jones, a convicted paedophile who was at one point a person of interest in the little boy’s disappearance, Nine’s A Current Affair reports.

He was released from prison in January after serving a sentence for child molesting.

In 2015, Mr Jones was convicted and sentenced for the aggravated indecent assault of an 11-year-old girl. He was sentenced to a maximum three years in prison, but news.com.au learnt he was back living in the community in January this year.

Could burnt-out car help lead police to William Tyrrell?

BBM
But you would think that would involve returning once again to the scene to achieve. I doubt you could tie a rope on and flip a car if it was still burning and would you stick around if it was anyway? I just think if that was the case there must have been some dire reason to return again and go to the trouble of flipping it over. I cant see someone going to that amount of trouble just for fun.

Perhaps they do burn quicker upside down, and someone with experience might know it. So they just return to flip it and burn it? I'm so confused lol

Dont consider they are cars lined up more likely logs from logging operation.
it's very hard to see. do you know the area of that spot?

"The information regarding the burnt-out vehicle will be part of the coronial inquest into William’s disappearance"
Could burnt-out car help lead police to William Tyrrell?
This indicates to me the car has been investigated. I would say it is possible the car was flipped over by police whilst investigating. This could explain the rope as well. Perhaps the car was originally found in a less accessible spot and was dragged to the clearing to investigate further??

so probably no evidence left....
Frequently with vehicle fires there are two scenes to be investigated – where the fire event actually occurred and where the vehicle was recovered (or taken) after the fire. The amount of time between when a vehicle is recovered and when the investigator can get to the site often works against the investigator because evidence degrades and the vehicle oxidizes from the damage, skewing the findings.

I just edited my previous post, because it is the one on the left of screen that I posted pics of before, and that I also determined about a 12 min drive to - if Loggers Creek Lane is included in the drive.

Sorry for the confusion. Looked at too many sat pics, I confused myself.

I dont know if they are cars in the pic (in the left-of-screen clearing) ... but they are something big enough to create shadows on the ground. Perhaps quonset huts or tanks?

But the article also states-
Police received a tip-off regarding the abandoned, rusty car hidden in the bush, however once they arrived at the scene, they discovered the vehicle had been flipped and set alight.

I was struck that ACA was definitively saying, first, the dumped car belonged to TJ, and second, that his white car which was seized and this silver car are the actual cars that were seen on Benaroon Drive. It was irritating that it didn't say how long was the gap between the sighting of the unburnt car and the return with detectives, or where the car was found, but that made all the more remarkable the lack of hedging about TJ. In my opinion, bringing in Spedding was only for the sake of appearing "balanced".

You have to wonder how much time there was between police getting the tip off and actually investigating it. You’d think they would get to the scene ASAP . If that was the case someone had to burn and flip it pretty quickly. So confusing.

It was actually the smaller one way over on the right of your screen shot (where the cars/huts/tanks were). Almost to the right edge of your pic.

Google Earth takes sat shots from a different angle to the program you are using.

The person who observed the unburnt car might not have reported it immediately. Perhaps it was seen some months before and only thought to be report-worthy after the sighting of the two cars in Benaroon Drive was publicized. That would be three years ago I think.

Or vice versa? A fuss over Jones - who was once considered a POI - while also trying to speak with Spedding and show everyone his changed appearance. Because Spedding is the one taking the media to court for defamation.

The car may not even carry the VIN number of Jones' old car, for all we know. Could just be a big push by ACA for ratings on the anniversary of William's disappearance, when everyone was reporting on the police announcement.

I need a transcript. Perhaps I'll try some transcribing later.

Hmm - we haven't seen BS for a long time. His new look. His roots do need a touch up, if he wants to maintain it. :)
With the charges in both NSW and VIC having been dropped I am surprised he is still maintaining his tight lipped approach.

So we have learned about two cars that AJ got around in (with or without permission).
One towed from the neighbours driveway for us all to see. The other out bush gutted and up ended.
It was a car that was like the one AJ was driving around in. Who actually owned it? Was it shared?

There are poi's that have not been named in the media. But there are still a few that have. I am still really interest in what cars they and their families got around in.

I've skipped a few pages, so sorry if anyone has touched on this already.

In the ACA interview, it states Jones told one person he'd been out that day with a chainsaw which he had borrowed from the local Council. IMO & past experience working for local government, due to public liability etc, you'd be hard pushed to find any Council or government owned corporation allowing its employees to borrow plant & equipment, let alone to a random member of the public. It's a big no-no that could put someone's job on the line. Councils loan out things like cat traps, but a chainsaw? Come on.
