The stigma, unfortunately, comes to play in the school environment ... amongst other children. It is sad, but we all know how cruel the taunting between children can be.

For a child who has already suffered the abuse/neglect/whatever that has them removed from their biological parent/s, for a child who then has to readjust to a life living with others, taunting about their removed-then-fostered situation by other children can add further difficulties and heartbreak to their lives.
This type of taunting can be a very negative factor for a child who we all want to feel 'normal', who we all want to go on and do well in their life.

Although it should be a level playing field for all children, it is not.
Their home situations count a lot for all children, who seek and recognise a sense of 'normalcy'.

It is up to the child who they tell that they are fostered, it is not up to the adults to exacerbate the child's situation.

I certainly don't dispute any of your comments SA.

I'm aware of what goes on, I'm quite well read and I'm aware of the damage that often results.

The bullying & nastiness that is perpetrated these days by some children is just horrible, and also terribly sad. I'm Terribly Sad & Confused as to what causes a child to develop such a hurtful & destructive personality. Since its supposedly Nature + Nurture that is responsible for 'who we are', one can't help wonder what these little horrors have been exposed to, and what they'll perhaps grow into.

My point was simply that there shouldn't be that Stigma.

There is no need nor reason for it, and if we as adults don't change the fact that one apparently does currently exist, who is going to.

Our Child Welfare & FACS systems, our education & child development systems, our Courts - all need a massive overhaul in my opinion. I'd really like to see those as a serious platform for the coming election. IMO, it's those things that provide the foundation, structure & glue for our county's values, and safety for our people.

As a child, my mum remarried, so I had a stepdad, it was a secret I kept because at a previous school, another group of children told me that I didn't have a real dad. Prior to that I had no dad at all, my parents separated when I was 3 yo and that taunt was "your mum is a sinner because you don't have a father. I understand why the stigma has to be avoided.

I'm really sorry that you experienced this hurtfulness GW. ... for some reason I always think of the song 'Harper Valley PTA' when I hear this stuff from children's mouths, but that's just MOO.

It is really quite a scary thought that it is possible that there will be a lot of finger pointing going on between two interested parties who have been called to the inquest.

I hope that the circumstantial evidence that the police have is quite clear. I hope that it points to one person, and one person only. I hope that the other interested party is there to cancel out any doubt for the Coroner.

I truly think that this is a one-person crime. IIRC most or all of the named POIs have been asked if they know each other - and/or any interactions have been identified in the media - so it was not so strange for media to ask Savage if he has ever met Spedding.

ACA ran another story tonight with interview with PS - until he suddenly became very angry.

He also said he didn't know why he's being asked to attend the inquest... nor did he know if he'd actually front up!

I agree it wasn't strange for the media to ask. He may or may not have actually met BS. Time will tell. I guess there is the possibility he had spoken to the repairman on the phone at some point. That is not actually meeting, I guess.

Yes, I had that thought, too - due to his hesitation.
I had wondered before how grandma got Spedding's name to do the washing machine repair. If Savage (or his wife) had ever used Spedding to do a repair for them.

Mr Savage seems to know a lot about people on the street ... I kinda think he is the street busybody, the one who peers out from behind the curtains, the one who stops and chats to the neighbours.
