Support squad cheers as ex-top cop Gary Jubelin enters battle to clear his name

Chaos turned comical when the prosecution, the side Mr Jubelin is normally on, failed to turn up on time and had to be called over the court loudspeaker, and then fight their way into the room, which was by then so full the door wouldn’t close.

Not guilty, Mr Jubelin’s barrister was finally able to say.

On the court steps afterwards, Mr Jubelin said: “Those charges related specifically to me carrying out my duties investigating the disappearance of William Tyrrell.

Taree - huh ?

Am I being dumb ?
It was the general location of two billboards advertising William's disappearance. I wonder if there were suspicions early on of these sex offenders BPs are thought to want to question.

I also think that some of the witnesses in that area have probably said that they can't travel to Sydney. Claiming travel and accommodation costs are too much for them, some would be on pensions, others have businesses to run etc.

There are a number of witnesses from that area and it's probably easier for the Coroner & others to travel up and maybe look at the area as well, if needed.

But in that case, wouldn't he have been described in terms of working at the neighbour's place, or just of his handyman practice, rather than of his past connection with FGM's?
Possibly he also was at the FGM's house in the week previous, or expected to call in to finish or perhaps repair the decking before the house went on the market. Could be that's it just to prove they aren't singling out any tradespeople who had or were planning to attend the house?

Your last sentence--IMO, no, the coroner has no need to prove anything of the sort.

The 42 witnesses can't all be POIs. With the hearing so close, I'm content to assume that deck man is one of the non-suspects.

Maybe he worked in conjunction with BS on the job he did I dungogan that day. Earlier it was posted he was a jack of all trades and I mentioned maybe he was the source of the washing machine part. Just throwing scenarios around

I wonder. He has stated time and again that he will not give up on finding William. 'Im not broken.' He isn't going away. I think there are a few who should be very afraid of what will do now. I wonder what options there are now for someone like him. I doubt celebrity speaker is high on his list.

As a Private Investgator I reckon he'd make many people very nervous .

He, like the ones from Taree may have a "chequered" history where children are concerned? They're pulling up all the ones on the sex offender list to be questioned at the 'Ree..maybe he's included? If he is a prior offender and went to FGM house previously, then he might have a bit of a case to answer??
Just MOO.
@Ms Cadfael
You referred to Taree or the court house as "the 'Ree": if that's the local name for it, do you know anything about how Kendall might be connected to the Taree area? From a map and news reports I thought it likely that Kendall people would think of Port Macquarie as their town (for work, business, etc). But Taree is only a bit further away, so maybe they also go to/from there just as much?

And is it likely that people would use Batar Creek Road as a thoroughfare from the south, or would it be more likely used by people who live in the Kendall/Batar Creek area and tourists heading for the National Park etc?

Don't feel obliged to answer, by the way, I just thought I'd ask in case :)

Just in the same sorta district. Lots of ppl commute to/from Taree and Port Mac. Port Mac would be considered "Down town" to Kendall, where you would go for Dr's, services etc.
There are more shops etc in Port too, so you travel there if you need a bigger store.I don't know any real reason a person from Taree (The 'Ree ;)) would need to go to Kendall, except for a social/family visit or maybe to hunt Roo?

Taree does have a history of paedophilia though, going back decades. The man that killed lil Khandalyce and her mum lived in Taree for a while too.

As far as batar Creek rd goes, I wouldn't know...Kendall is not the sort of place you need to go to unless there was a social/familiar connection. There's nothing there but houses, no real tourist attractions, work opps etc.

Thanks! That's good information, though a bit terrifying:
1. I'll try to look this up later, but: the person who killed Khandalyce and her mum - did he have a connection to Taree before living there (friends, employment, etc)?
2. By "to hunt Roo", do you mean people kill kangaroos around the Kendall or Taree areas? If so, is it illegal, and why are they doing it? Do they use guns or something quieter (bows and arrows, say, in which case they could be operating in the Kendall State Forest without being heard)?
3. Re the history of CSOs, I think from memory there was a police operation in the area several years ago, a task force or similar (I can't find the link I'm looking for, sorry), and they rounded up a frightening number of offenders, yes.

Thank you again.

smh headlines from 2015-2016 regarding a paedophile ring, maybe they were based in taree, that whole area seems full of them
The region has developed a sinister reputation after the disappearance of toddler William Tyrrell unearthed a paedophile ring.

1-Don't think Daniel Holdom had any connections to Taree..not sure though. I didn't hear of any. But it is, sadly, the kind of place that riff raff tend to gravitate toward.

2- Roo hunting isn't illegal if it's on private property. There's loads of Pig hunting in the area too. <modsnip>
3- History goes back decades of CSO/Rings. A quick google search will give you all the info on it. There was also talk of certain members of the public service involvement in sex rings in the 80's There were cases more recently too. Unfortunately, it really is just one of "those" places. Doesn't surprise me one bit that they're digging into the place in respect to the WT case. Beautiful place aesthetically pleasing, but very strange and dark at the same time. I love the place..but not so much the people, so would never live there again.

‘It is no longer believed the kidnapper is a member of a pedophile ring.

Previously, police had investigated an alleged pedophile ring operating around Kendall as possibly being involved in William's disappearance, but A Current Affair can reveal that line of inquiry has been all but ruled out.’

‘I would be sweating’: William Tyrrell investigator says it’s ‘highly likely’ police have encountered kidnapper

It's strange that they have "ruled it out", but then pull in local's with a history of sex offences in to the inquest.
Unless they are just trying to prove they examined this line of enquiry and found nothing substantial?

Read about a police shooting in Taree today, not revelant to William but just something that happened there, not often our police shoot someone.

Just because they are pulling in local with a history of sex offences doesn’t mean those individuals are part of a ‘paedophile ring’. The Coroner must have further questions to ask of these individuals based on the brief of evidence the OIC of the investigation provided to her.
