Given that every article about WT STILL gets comments about how "I bet the family did it" "was he even there" "dodgy that it happneed when the dad wasn't there" etc etc, I think it's a good thing if they do make public the scrutiny that the cops placed the foster family under! The FFC made clear on the Where's William podcast that they were considered suspects and treated as such and investigated thoroughly, included by Jubelin, but not everyone listens to podcasts.
Agree but why is Swift asking about it? It seems Swift is on a mission to discredit the FC's and the LE process.

Totally agree with you re witnesses recall, they are very often unreliable.
I’d love this to be true, and would be very impressed with his observation powers, I doubt Id recall or have time to take in that the child was wearing a spiderman outfit just from a fleeting glance.

I also wonder how he is certain that it was a woman driving the car. He would have had a second - maybe two or three - to see that car driving past.
I don't know about anyone else, but when a car drives past me I rarely have enough time to see who is driving - let alone who else is in the vehicle. Especially with the tinted windows that most cars have these days.
About all I really see is a certain coloured vehicle of a certain type drive past, and perhaps the vague outline/shadow of the driver, and/or passenger(s).

Steered by a few people with their own agendas, that don't including finding William. IMO.

I agree, Swift and O'Brien seem to have a different agenda than the agenda of the Coroner and the police.

They are not going to win any Brownie points for their clients by doing this. And they are not going to distract anyone who is genuinely concerned about finding William. They are wasting valuable time.

If not for them, we might have heard from Savage today.

I think he has merged two memories, would be huge coincidence that the child over the road as well as child in car both were wearing Spiderman suits.
Another way to look at it is that he had current familiarity with spiderman suits so that his assumption from what he saw of the child that the child was wearing a spiderman suit is more likely to be correct.

I am seriously doubting that he could tell that it was a spiderman top (surely he couldn't see the bottom).

How, in a second or two, does a person tell that the motif on a child's perhaps-red top is spiderman? Especially through a car window.
How can he be sure that it wasn't a dinosaur or Bob the Builder or Thomas the Tank Engine?

I appreciate his testimony, all leads big or small are good. But I am doubtful about the accuracy.

The cars would have to have been travelling quite slowly. He's heard a noise while inside, gone outside, and he's in time to see two cars, both drivers, and the child. The cars would have had to have turned in to Laurel St and proceeded uphill, with no vision of what was over the hill, then there's the intersection with Jackson St to the left, and then a T-intersection with Orara St at which they would have to stop and turn. All that would have slowed them down.

If you look at streetview. The cars turned off Batar Creek Road onto Laurel Street, I believe ... they would have been going downhill, toward the tennis courts on Orara Street. Not so slow. And pretty clear vision in all directions. imo

Anyway, it is neither here nor there. I personally doubt he could have seen things as clearly as he states, and the Coroner has all the info.

So heading downhill toward the tennis courts where side on vision of cars was captured?

unless he was familiar with the spiderman suits from seeing them on children within his own family and thats why it stuck in his memory, it could have reminded him of someone?
Agree.. I have seen the back of someone's hair of a person I had not seen in 20 yrs and recognised them.

My son was wearing this type of gear same age as william and from seeing it all the time you instantly know. A bit like when you start looking for a new car and then see it everywhere. Imoo.

Adding in:

Would be interesting to know if he has grandkids or the likes and was familiar with the costume.

From the intersection of Batar Creek Rd: uphill.

From the top of the hill: intersection with Jackson St seen to left, slight turn, and Laurel St continues downhill to Orara.

(Both from Google Maps, street view.)

Edit: I see where the road slopes up and down in the middle. My apologies.

I wonder which side of the slope the witness lives on? Did he see the 4WD going uphill, or did he see the 4WD going downhill?
I respect his opinion. And his testimony. I just question the motif on the child's t-shirt seen quickly through a likely-tinted window.

He'll be giving evidence some time this week...

Or the pool. Or if they took Jackson St, towards the post office in Comboyne St. And the turnoff from Batar Creek Rd is very near one of the two McInally houses currently showing in White Pages.
