Pardon a potentially silly question, but isn't the purpose of coronial inquest to primarily to identify whether someone missing is likely alive (or not), and secondly to identify if any lessons can be learned in terms of best practice approach. I am following the inquest with these in mind and probably not expecting much more at this stage. It is also, of course, an opportunity to identify options / targets for continuing investigation as it has been stated many times - adding layers / insights for the LE to pursue. I would argue, with my admitted limited knowledge of course, that the 'mess/confusion/complexity' of info being publicly released via the inquest may be that way for strategic reasons. IMO

May I also ask if anyone saw anything resulting from the Herons Creek timber mill search / excavation that was reported last week in MSM?

BBM I agree.

Mr O'Brien described the investigation as "frustrating and damaging" for his client.
"He and the rest of the community are entitled to know whether it could have been done better," he said.
But Deputy state coroner Harriet Grahame rejected the application and said her "primary focus and greatest hope" was to find out what happened to three-year-old William.
"It is not the time for trying to discover, on a piecemeal basis, if the investigation went down a wrong track," she said.
"If there is a need to look at the adequacy of the investigation, it is not now."

Thanks for finding that statement again, soso, I recalled that from Grahame. I took that to mean in relation to O'Brien's commentary in particular, about whether his client had been focused on too much etc. We could read this to mean she is focusing on delving deeper first, to be able to determine what most likely happened to WT, then look at potential lessons later.

Col was the one who mentioned the Physic, between him and Margaret they really didnt do Bill any favours at the time, the physic comment just added fuel to the fire, maybe he should sue Col for putting that information out there.
Or maybe the media for wording the article wrong? Did they quote him?

A few months ago, Youngberry reveals, Margaret Spedding went to a clairvoyant. He says he's heard the tape recording of the conversation. Margaret asked the clairvoyant if her husband had been involved in any way in William's disappearance. The clairvoyant reassured her he hadn't. That made her feel good.

And thirdly ...

If the Coroner comes to the conclusion that a known person has committed a serious offence in connection with the death, fire or explosion, the coronial proceedings must be suspended and the matter referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions who will then decide, independently of the Coroner, whether charges should be laid.

It is the story we all are hoping will have an end - and soon. The final chapter however, whenever it is written, we know will be a tragic one............................

Do we have any answers yet? No.
Are we likely to have any soon? Probably not.
It is a suspected crime of the darkest and most hideous kind. It involves a child and in the thousands of pieces of evidence collected, only one crucial piece to the puzzle - someone, or several people, are not telling the truth.
William Tyrrell: will we get any answers?

We seem to have more questions if anything.

So Marg and Bill have finished testifying?..that is why we had no court today...no more questions for them.

I don't doubt that he said it either. He sure didn't help Spedding one little bit. I wonder if they are still friends, after all the info Ole Col divulged?

I think it was good old Col's daughter who was supporting BS & MS yesterday...:rolleyes:

Was it the Friday evening he was having a beer?

Looks like there is daylight coming in through the window (at 28 sec mark).
I would post a pic here but there are too many kids in the video. I wonder if it was a kids footy function?

Sunset was at 5:39pm in that area on 12 Sept 2014.

No it was Saturday 13/9/14 @ a AFL presentation in the afternoon ( Think it started 2:2-30pm )

No,it was day after.
In the statement, Mr Pollard told police he was 100 per cent certain he saw Bill Spedding's van coming out of bushland near Houston Mitchell Drive at Bonny Hills on September 13, 2014.
Spedding's van in bush evidence questioned

Yes of course, thankyou.

Mr Spedding told the inquest he first learnt William was missing the night of the boy's disappearance when an alert flashed up on the nightly news.
"Our ears pricked up and we said, 'that's awful close to home' and we really tuned in," he said.
But as his client's surname wasn't Tyrrell, he said he didn't realise he'd visited the home days before William's disappearance until a police officer spoke to him on September 15.
Tyrrell scrutiny was devastating: Spedding

Mr Spedding recalled hearing about William's disappearance on news bulletins and thinking it was "awful, terrible".
"We were really tuned into it, being almost local," he said.

Did they say William was missing from Benaroon Drive in those alert flashes?

It is very possible that they did mention Benaroon Drive in the alerts. It is even included in the very first article ever posted here about 'a missing three year old boy' ... dated September 12, 2014 12:25pm.
