Sorry, but I must disagree with this statement (BBM). I am in no way trying to prevent open discussion. I just think it is very unfair to assert that there have been oversights by the police with regard to Spedding, when that is not actually a known fact. It is Spedding that my post was specifically about.

I feel that every time anyone speaks of Spedding - who has not been cleared by the police or by the Coroner, as far as we know - open discussion is shut down by assertions that seem to say he has been cleared ... and by 'new' evidence, at that.
BBM, I don't think a Coroner would clear anyone at a Coronial Inquest would they? They would normally refer the matter to an investigative body if there was reason to do so wouldn't they.

Would the Coroner also take this into consideration in her findings?

Tip-off led to investigation
The ABC has been told police received a tip-off from a mystery person that Mr Spedding was a paedophile.

Police investigated the allegations and charged him with historical child sex offences, but all of them were dropped or dismissed because there was no evidence.

Mr Spedding has always denied these allegations and his legal team allege the charges were laid as part of a smear campaign to put pressure on him.

Evidence heard at the coronial inquest revealed Mr Spedding was nowhere near Kendall when William disappeared on September 12, 2014.

No I don't think so, her concern is William not Spedding.

Yes she wants to determine what happened to WT. But my point was it's not a Coroner's job to determine guilt or innocence of anyone at a CI. They just don't do that. But if her findings lead her to anyone that needs further investigation she would refer that on. That's my understanding of how CI's work anyway.

Or recommend they be charged.

Here is what the law says in that regard
(quote)
Power to refer to Director of Public Prosecutions

The Coroner cannot find someone guilty of a crime. If, at any time during the course of an inquest or inquiry, the Coroner forms an opinion that a known person has committed an indictable offence in connection with the death the Coroner is required to suspend the inquest or inquiry and refer the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions. It is entirely a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions to determine whether charges should be laid against the person, and a matter for the criminal courts to determine whether the person is guilty.

Similary, the Coroner cannot determine civil liability, although the Coroner’s finding may be relied upon in subsequent civil proceedings and/or insurance claims.

Yes. I did not answer the question posed in post #1403 because we have been over this exact thing multiple times before.

I think just about everything has been rehashed multiple times before in this case, IMO.
Maybe some of the more recent posters aren't aware of some of it, and some of us have also taken a break from this case as well, so probably missed some of the discussions previously.

BBM: Yes, and yes.

It is nice that you are re-explaining it all for them.

IMO the coroner didn’t even want to hear about speddings lawyers accusations against nsw police - and said that was a matter for another time.

the police didn’t really get a right to reply in this respect. So at the moment it’s a statement By BS lawyer in my opinion - which of course would be in favour of his client.

Adding....

The court system would be moving a lot quicker if we took everything to be said as gospel...... no one would be guilty of anything!

short answer no.

This article is also poorly written IMO.

Closed court is suppressed information..no media and no public.
The brief is not suppressed, although the statements made by some would be IMO Not too sure who is and who isnt allowed to see or know what they contain..CO has been around since day dot with this case and good on her for taking part in intense conversation with the bio family..i dont know what bias you are speaking of?

Has caroline been around since day 1?

Serious question as i interpretated from her interview that she jumped on much later once? Will need to check that.

With all due respect her statements sound a bit full on for me like she’s not taking it all in.

I loved that she had shown the bios more in her podcast, but felt this was let down by her other comments or interviewing methods. Bios and fosters don’t need to be pitted against each other.

No, she hasn't been. Dan Box used to write all the articles about William for The Australian. He and Greg Bearup wrote the award winning one about William's disappearance, for The Australian.
Dan Box has moved on to writing other things. I recently read his new book Bowraville - very well written. I am glad to see that he is co-authoring Jubes' upcoming book. It will be well written and a good read. imo

You critisized the MSM article i posted and my question pertained to that.
What makes you say it is poorly written? In other words how do you know that?
