So... Are any of these "supporting women" or "advocates" blonde and plumpish by any chance?
:eek::rolleyes::eek:

Well, yes ..... but have never seen the hair long enough for a bun on top of the head. And probably wouldn't wear a bow either. :p

And whats this about they drew glares from Ms Grahame? Where'd that come from? Coroner scoped the whole room and remained very poker faced throughout! I must have missed that, and i was also sitting very near these ladies and there was no such thing happen..and that is definately my opinion

Just jumping off this post. Judges glare at people all the time. They glare at lawyers who are whispering too loudly. They glare at prosecutors who can’t find paperwork. They glare at defence lawyers who don’t have their shirts tucked in. They glare at court staff who don’t remind them that it’s time for the lunch break.

I wouldn’t read too much into a judge glaring at someone. If a judge was really unhappy with someone, they would say something out loud.

From what we have heard, it was very much a one-off for Harriet Grahame to glare at anyone during this inquest. It was the only incidence of glaring from her that was seen at the inquest IIRC.

I have found it interesting and sometimes funny to watch a judge's demeanour in some of the live streamed trials i have followed in America.
Sometimes they look a bit indifferent to things but are certainly on the ball, and some put up with a bit more nonsense from DT's than others.

Excuse me? Perhaps some need to go back and read what the mod has said about our members who attend the inquest? Something like .... a person can believe or not believe it, but they are not to challenge it.

Every single day? Are you sure about that?

Yes. Every single day that the inquest was open to the public. Please stop challenging me. It is not necessary.

It is not our fault that the BD's group was disruptive and incurred a glare from the Coroner.

The American legal system is a bit more animated than in Australia. But judges have their own personalities and idiosyncrasies. Half the job of a lawyer is to know the judge and to know how best to present the evidence before that judge.

Rarely, although there is a push for it. Pell’s sentencing was broadcast live, but that was only the judge’s reasons for sentence, not the actual trial.

I am in no way defending paedophiles and every one of them is one too many ....,

However ... Townsville is not a small town like Kendall... Townsville has a population of approx 190,000 persons ... so yes 170 is a great many (and too many) but actually a small percentage of that population ..

Also demographics suggest that Towns and Cities where there is Jail in close proximity, (Townsville has Stuart Creek Prison ) have a higher percentage of released prisoners residing close by ... unfortunately...

I understand the demographics SLeuTh, especially in this situation as I'm a proud Q lander.

However I've no tolerance for any %. These self-indulgent misfits who prey upon & destroy the innocence & future of our young; the hopes & dreams of families & the very basis of what we stand for as a society should be deemed unfit to resume a place in our mainstream existence.

Why are they in cushy cells, with an opportunity to riot & complain about their treatment?!
Why aren't they breaking rocks to build our roads & infrastructure ? Why sent they doing something worthwhile to contribute to the society that their actions have fractured ?

Just my thoughts ...

So it’s fair if you live near a jail that you should be at risk????
Especially if the jail was built after you have resided there....
Where do suggest they go then? Perhaps you could lobby for that?

To Hell I reckon - and fast !

Right, i was wondering if that might change in the future in Australia, so will be interesting to see if that ever happens.
