I don’t understand why some of the neighbours have been subject to such intense scrutiny, yet others that seem suspicious to me go right under the radar, and from what we know didnt even appear at the inquest. It seems unfair.
If there is ever an unsolved murder in my street, I’d definitely move.

Wasn’t it Savage that said the occupant had moved because the whole thing was too much for him. Was he throwing a bit of shade here .

Yeah I think it was PS who said that. Surely this guy would have been sussed out by police... and maybe is still being sussed out. So much we don't know...

From his house directly opposite William’s grandmother’s former home, an elderly man named Paul (surname withheld for privacy reasons) and his son, Sean, have watched long-time friends and neighbours slowly drift away from Benaroon Drive.“A lot of them have moved,” he says. “One bloke left because he felt intimidated by the police. He had a few problems. He wasn’t a crook or a bad bloke, just a bit of a loner. He wanted out.”

“A recluse,” says Sean. “I think all of the attention sort of frightened him.”
“They were coming around checking everything and he got scared,” Paul says. “Just the fear of that.” He shrugs his shoulders. “You got to let them do their job and they’re still following up on everything. They’re doing a good job.”

Residents were also asked to detail all deliveries and repairs to their home over a one-year period

One year!!! I would struggle with that. I wonder what they were driving at. I think I could list repairs in the last year but deliveries? not a chance with two teenagers and the internet!!!

Gary Jubelin’s criminal hearing has resumed for an eighth day. It was originally set down for five days. Officer Darrin Bachelor, from the Professional Standards Command is back on the stand briefly. Jubelin’s defence team is expected to start presenting their case later today.

I agree.. there were also interesting connections between a resident of Benaroon Drive and another POI. I hope these associations were also explored IMO

The Magistrate has summarised the prosecution case and told the court he is formally of the view the defence has a case to answer. Jubelin has now taken the stand.

The court heard Jubelin has led a wide range of murder cases, including “organised crime murders, serial killers, stranger murders, domestic murders, child murders” since 1997 and has filled in as Commander of Homicide on several occasions.

Jubelin told the court the technology used had “certainly changed from when I started in criminal investigation in 1987”.

Jubelin told the court the William Tyrrell investigation was “one of the most difficult”, given there was no forensic evidence and no eye witnesses, as well as the “magnitude” of it and the “concerns about the way it was handled from the start made things more difficult”.

Jubelin told the court he was concerned before he even took over the case that the “Bill Spedding line of inquiry was very overt and very public” and claimed he tried to put a stop to the search warrant being executed on his house, but it went ahead anyway.
