Mr Jones is asked if he was sure the day he saw the man at the reserve was September 12, 2014 and he told the court he was it was that day and believed it was about “10 to 12” that morning.

I hope this Mr Jones reported what he saw that morning, to the police early on and not a long time later like Chapman.
Gosh we all knew William was missing the first day I find it unreal that people living nearby didnt report every tiny thing that may have helped..

Mr Jones claims this encounter with the man in the car happened at the Henry Kendall Reserve on the day William went missing, about 12km from Benaroon Drive.

Mr Jones has been excused and the court has been closed for an application to be made, but there will be no further evidence today. It will resume tomorrow morning.

He's consistent and definite, but take note of his answers to questions like What is it that makes you sure/How did you form that opinion. Sometimes he can give reasons, sometimes he can't. On balance I'm moving toward thinking that he didn't see William.

Maybe he was sure but not sure about reporting it. People worry about getting tangled up in criminal activity or in something they don't understand.

Yes, and their names get splashed across the media. Thanks to the media, people know where Chapman lives (or at least the street he lives on) and his full name. He might've feared being threatened by whoever took William if he spoke out. He might've thought the police had it under control (in the early days, the media was heavily focused on a boy missing in the bush, not an abduction.)

I wonder if any of what Chapman allegedly saw ties into the other witness report of a large woman acting suspiciously near a 4WD on the same day. It was reported early in the case. I'd love to find the source but it's gone

Vaguely recall that sighting of a woman acting suspiciously beside a 4wd was reported during talk back radio.

It's certainly easy to do. There are several universities running studies at the moment. Perhaps he has been tested, who knows?

Jones told the detective in the video he pulled up at the reserve and saw a man sitting in another car parked there. He said “he was looking at me and I was looking at him” before he wound up his window “very quickly”. He said he noticed the vehicle was “very fogged up”.

I wonder about the relevance of the “fogged up” window?
