From my link above -

"William’s father had left the house on Benaroon Drive that morning, seeking an internet connection that would allow him to make a business presentation using Skype. His mother and grandmother had been sitting outside at the rear of the property, while the children played. About 10.30am, William’s mother went inside the house to make a cup of tea before realising she could no longer hear her son. Fearing he might have been abducted, she searched inside and around the house, calling out to William, she said later."

Hm. I'm not sure my first thought would be to worry my child had been abducted, so much as to worry that he got hurt or stuck in a hiding place or something... the only time abduction would be my go-to worry is if I was just heavily involved in a websleuths case or if I had some pre-existing worry about someone in the area wanting to do something to my child. OT
Have been out of action for a few days, like many thousands of other.
No mobile, internet or electricity as a result of the extreme weather that hit parts of NSW.
My thoughts are with those that have lost their lives and homes.

BS charged with historical sexual offences.

I have a lot of catch up to do.

Hope everything is okay, soso. Was wondering how our storm and flood-ridden WSers are.

I wonder if maybe it would be good to make the date more universal in nature so people in the US and other places dont' think it's December 9? The way that Websleuths makes a point to say "12 September 2014" for example still pays respect to the way the date is written outside the US yet keeps us from spreading completely wrong info.

Sorry for the O/T.

BBM. The only other place aside from USA that officially formats it MMDDYY is Belize.
And sometimes the Canadians get confused and do it "wrong" too ;)

Well then I guess those are the other places I was referring to. :)

I guess it could have been a concern of hers as she is a carer of children who presumably have another family. One that may possibly not be happy that their children have been removed. :dunno:

Since we can only discuss what the media has released it makes it hard talk about here. I do think another poster hit the nail on the head when they referenced the Brittany Woods case. Sometimes the old 'blood is thicker than water' saying is unfortunately true in cases like this. This screams blood clot to me..Bugger it, Im putting it out there..I think MS son is involved too

Thanks for this perspective, I always enjoy reading other opinions.

I was thinking earlier that if his victims (or their parents) saw his name in the media after he originally caught the attention of the investigators, perhaps they called crime stoppers and reported the historical case of abuse. They might have been thinking that since he did it to them, he could have done it to William.

And who know how many other victims are out there :(

That's the one I was thinking of! Thank you!!

I think some of us have a fair idea, we just aren't allowed to speculate :shame:

Thanks, but too late, I didn't read your reply until I was finished. :). Oh well ,that's alright. I've definitely got my wheels turning more from reading it all than if I hadn't.

I'm very disturbed that Colin has known BS for "nearly 30 years" since the pedo charges are for an incident 28 years ago.
I'm very disturbed that BS and MS got married "nearly 30 years" ago, or to be specific, 28 years ago.
I'm very disturbed that Colin's wife and MS are cousins.

This reminds me of another case here, in the US, where a missing young lady's entire family turned out to be a bunch of druggie pedo sex dirtbags. Can't recall the case. I think the uncle killed himself, I"m sure someone else knows who I mean - I think she still hasn't been found. (ETA - Brittany Woods, thank you to the poster who was able to put her name back into my mind later in the thread, and sorry for not noting your screenname in order to thank you here. O/T Link to article about Brittney Woods and suspected child sex ring - http://www.cbsnews.com/news/brittne...a-teen-probe-uncovers-alleged-child-sex-ring/)

I pray the phrase "all in the family" doesn't apply here. Really I do. So so much.

Just bringing this forward to thank the poster who helped me remember her name - Brittney Woods - there is now a link edited into my original post for those who wanted to understand my reference. Sorry for the sort-of-O/T.

Who are the other persons of interest and why aren't we discussing them?

"Mr Spedding is among a number of people identified as “persons of interest” during the investigation into William’s disappearance last September."

(article just came out 23 minutes ago)

I have always assumed that being that its a "pedo ring", there are others involved. Either their names aren't known to the police (... unlikely?) or not known to the media at this stage.
So can't discuss them except in the abstract. They exist, or it wouldn't be a ring. But they're nameless and faceless at least for now?

Well geez, it would be nice to know. We need something (someone) else to dissect!

A relative, who claimed to have called Crime Stoppers, said she had made several statements to police.

Last night a relative told The Daily Telegraph she had tipped off police about the *allegation.

“They were here within the hour,” the relative said.

The Central Coast woman said she had spoken with *detectives at least five times since she made the call and has provided formal statements to investigators.

I totally agree... the question is, do we not know for strategic reasons, or because of a lack of intel on the cops' behalf... I'm quietly hopeful its the former. I want them to be steps ahead of the bad guys!

I guess this is not Colin ...

Mr Spedding’s cousin, who went to the white goods *repairman’s home minutes after he learnt of the arrest, said he supported the tradesman and said his wife was distraught. “She’s devastated, she’s very worried,” he said.

“She’s wondering why they’ve arrested him.”

Asked if Margaret still had faith in her husband, he said: “Without a doubt, she’ll fight it all the way … we’re with him all the way.”

A child's shirt blocking a pipe? What might that be all about? Did a someone flush a shirt down the toilet? Could an article of clothing escape the washing machine? Surely a shirt would never get down a sink or bath tub drain? Or could it?

If these charges are true, then Spedding is not just a pedophile. He's the worst kind of pedophile. I don't think the shock has set in yet. If he's capable of something so disgusting I really won't be surprised if more accusations come out. This is so extreme I can't see it being limited to these incidents. Remember Robert Hughes.
