REPAIRMAN Bill Spedding was last night charged by homicide police investigating the disappearance of toddler William Tyrrell with the *alleged multiple rape of a girl under the age of 10.

I think this was mentioned up thread but why charged by the homicide squad - for a historical sexual offense?

I am thinking there is more to come.

I remember hiding my bathing suit down a drain so my mother couldn't find it to see I'd torn it. My two year old throws whole rolls of toilet paper, his toys, sippy cup and my cars keys down the toilet!!

What we don't know is what sort of pipe it was, whether it was easily accessible to ram things down.

If this had anything to do with anything heinous - it would've been destroyed another way than down a drain IMO - unless you're a very slack criminal.

A child's shirt blocking a pipe? What might that be all about? Did a someone flush a shirt down the toilet? Could an article of clothing escape the washing machine? Surely a shirt would never get down a sink or bath tub drain? Or could it?

" "A family member said Mr Spedding was living with his wife Margaret in Campbelltown in the late-1980s.

Last night a relative told The Daily Telegraph she had tipped off police about the *allegation.

“They were here within the hour,” the relative said.
The Central Coast woman said she had spoken with *detectives at least five times since she made the call and has provided formal statements to investigators."

Who was the relative who tipped them off?

REPAIRMAN Bill Spedding was last night charged by homicide police investigating the disappearance of toddler William Tyrrell with the alleged multiple rape of a girl under the age of 10.

The 63-year-old from Bonny Hills has been charged with five counts of sexual intercourse and two counts of common assault allegedly involving two girls, aged three and six, in Campbelltown in 1987. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Macquarie Local Court today on the historical sex offences.

BBM: This is so very, very disturbing. I apologise for being so graphic but sexual intercourse! Not sexual penetration (which may involve anything other than a penis) but actual intercourse! Rape as well as assault! All of this inflicted on one or both of those tiny little girls by a 35 year old married man! As a mother, a grandmother and a decent human being I'm totally outraged by this!

Spare me the "Oh he hasn't been found guilty yet" and "...but it could all be a mistake" as well as "The media got it wrong bla bla bla." replies.

I'm looking forward to the court case. In the meantime I hope that Strikeforce Rosann are closer to finding little William.

I was thinking the same thing "sexual intercourse" that is just what it says and yes they may allegations, if they are proven the person is a monster, I went to bed and got up because those words kept going around in my head.. its just sick

A relative, who claimed to have called Crime Stoppers, said she had made several statements to police.

Thanks Fruity. I'm wondering if the female 'relative' may be the ex-wife.

If any adult had prior suspicion that a child had been raped and didn't yell and scream to authorities 28 year ago and pursue it...I'd want to smack the crap out of that person.... I'm thinking maybe the relative that came forward was the child then...

Marking my spot whilst I try and get caught up with these new developments.

In a link posted earlier, and I'll post it again. Spedding will be refused bail. That's pretty serious, right? I know the allegations are serious, but don't they take into consideration a range of things before refusing bail? E.g. likelihood of skipping the country, danger to the community, etc. Has anyone ever heard of someone being refused bail for "historical" offences?

They are probably concerned he will try and kill himself.

I totally agree with you. This is not a little mix up or cops having some fun. These are serious and sick charges.

Or if he was in a hurry to hide it....

I do love this but I'm not comfortable it helps show his features properly if people are looking for him. We all know this is him, were familiar with his pics, just if someone else sees this who isn't familiar, it may not accentuate exactly how he looks.

I see nothing wrong with it at all. No chance someone would not know it was William. Excellent Tilikum

Perhaps one of the victims? Ugh.

Yes, that was my second thought. Perhaps they have always remembered who hurt them so long ago and when they saw BS mentioned in MSM it brought it all flooding back. Either way, I'm so pleased whoever it was has come forward.

Well, that's given away the tipster Central Coast and female. I hope she wasn't told that anything she said would be 'strictly confidential'.
