We'll look so foolish as Australians if it turns out a dingo took William.

I think this is my new pet theory

Maybe ..whatever , it still does not or should not discount that road CAN be used as a quick escape ....I am sure it was also part of the reason they searched that area and beyond ..I am not debating who or which car could have exited but that it could be done ...and possibly with any vehicle if you were a good enough driver ..I have only seen the track by air ..so MOO

If a person is wanting to get away, unseen, the bush trails are the perfect way to go. I think there is a chain across the bush trail, on the Benaroon side - but that can probably be unlatched as it is a fire trail, I think.

We certainly drove around on bush trails in the outback, in sedans, when I grew up out there.

And from some of the photos, the trails in that area look pretty good for driving in many places ... they are just a bit water-pitted in some areas, so you slow down and take the best route through.

Aside: Many a time have I seen such chains with a dozen or so padlocks in them. The first one belongs to the responsible authority; the rest are where people have cut chain links and added their own locks. :)

Another aside ...fire trails have to be accessible at anytime all times , any that arent should be IMO especially since 19/20 bushfires where people had to use in some cases to escape from bush properties and the only routes to towns for some

I'm pretty sure a cop car got stuck trying to go up the fire trail very early on that morning

It is named on the map as a continuation of Benaroon which connects to other areas and other roads(tracks) way through to a small community of homes further west and back towards cemetary etc ..in any case if this is a designated fire trail and is not accessible then it should not be or isnt classified as one because they HAVE to be maintained ...so maybe it is a walking track more so ,the lady in the caravan might have trouble getting out or in unless she had access else where

I'm not sure if fire trail is the right word for it though. On the map it's Benaroon Drive all the way around to the forest. This track is different from the broad fire break that runs for tens of kilometres through that region.

This was the experience of a past member (iailwa) who drove the trail in Oct 2017. This is just a bit of it, there is more description in the post about things that were encountered along the way.

You can get out of Benaroon drive & into the bush with a 4wd (only - a car just wouldn't cut it). it's very bumpy, and some of the humps were huge enough for a standard car to just balance on, with no tyres touching the road, it would be impossible. Can understand a 4WD might loose a mudguard or something, especially if they are hurrying. saw a hub cap right there. I was quite surprised to see how easy it would be to go that way, virtually no-one would see or hear you except the neighbours next door to william's (the ones who were away). it would take 30 secs to reach by vehicle from Wiliam's drive. when you go up there, there's a rabbit warren of trails going everywhere. I know one of them leads to batar creek rd, but i found myself at a dead end at some weird humpy house with lots of annexes & three 4wds - got outta there as fast i could! It reminded me of the backyard where Stacey lee Duggard was kept. tents and tarps and all sorts. i thought they'd follow me actually, that's how creepy it was! It would actually be a short cut for those peeps, to go past williams, rather than to go via kendal forest rd.

So is it a fire designated fire trail ? its not as bad as I thought but i only saw now re google maps and it looked worse in 2010
The pic is a bit decieving, those humps are quite steep, a 4WD would have no problems IMO

It was called a fire trail at the inquest, it's more like a walking trail to me , especially once you get up the top near the cemetery.

I've got lots of video & photos but most are to big to be uploaded here.

Edit to add video

There are free tools online for resizing photos, for instance:

Alternatively they could be uploaded to imgur and links posted here.

Videos could be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and links posted here.

I'm going to be very surprised if the FM had anything to do with William disappearing.

If it turns out that she did, it will sort of be a first for me.

You see,I've been following crime cases for many years, delving deep down into the facts. or in some cases, so called facts.
And also into the personalities of those involved.
And possible scenarios. Not just those that "most people would do" Or the "right way" a grieving person "should act" Remember Lindy.

And it came to me, and was so surprising, that I thought that can't be true!

What came to me was that not once in any cases involving disappearances, possibly murder, has a person I thought was innocent turned out to be guilty.

I say turned out, because some that I continued to believe were innocent were actually jailed, and later found not guilty, like I thought they were all along.

Not very scientific but I'm coming from a stance of innocent until proven guilty.

You know that one, that a lot of people just take no notice of.
I really appreciate your response, did you feel that way about BS during the years of this case?

Looks easy peasy but 120ys are renoun for rally cars , also friends who live in Forestry trails up near Bellingen have always preferred Fords or Holdens to 4 x4 ..wear out after years but as said land cruisers are rough riders IMO ..4x4 these days rarely go off road :) Anyway I will leave it be now as maybe NOT an option for FM ..if that is what is being defended by others ..I am not saying it was her choice only that it is an option IMO
