GUILTY AZ - Dale Harrell, 34, beaten to death, Gilbert, 14 Jan 2009 #3

  • #281
Hi everyone =)

I took time away from all trials/news and I was worried there'd be a verdict before I came back.
What was I thinking?? This is an AZ jury!

Seriously, though..I wanted to give my opinion on this.

I think there is someone on this jury that is seriously co-dependent.
They feel like it's their responsibility to save the kids heartache and they aren't able to rationalize that this case is even a case because the defendant CHOSE TO SMASH HER HUSBAND (a.k.a - the only father her children have known)'S HEAD IN WITH A HAMMER.
It's not up to this Jury to decide what's best for the kids. It's their Job to decide if this defendant is guilty of murder and if she deserves the death penalty. period.
The responsibility of the children's feelings/well being falls upon the parents and/or legal guardian. Unfortunately, they don't have a father because their remaining living parent decided they didn't need a father because she wanted the insurance money his death would grant her. They are living with the defendant's own mother, who has been accused of severe abuse by the defendant. But she wants this abusive beast to care for her precious children.:notgood:
She chose money over her children's well-being, she chose money over her children's emotional stability, she chose money over her own wretched freedom.
She's the one who murdered her husband, she's the one who has been found guilty and she's the one who must suffer the consequences of her own actions.
The children are collateral damage, as they always are when they have a crap parent who puts their own wants/desires ahead of their children's well being.
As trial watchers, we've seen that time and time again. Unfortunately, that's life, and we can't save everyone from heartache. It happens, and sometimes it's those very burdens that give us the character and mental fortitude to become the people we were born to be.
These children's lot in life is to be the daughter of a psychopathic murderess who murdered their father, and it's their life to live. None of us can save them from that, and certainly not these jury members.
Whoever is the co-dependent one on this jury needs to suck it up, feel those uncomfortable feelings and cast their vote for death and be done with it already. Murder is not something that gives us all good feelings, it's horrible. This jury has a horrible job to do, and they need to just get over it, make a decision and be done with it.
I'm personally so tired of this trial, I don't care if she gets life or dp, i just want it to end. it's gone on long enough.

All of the above is just my :twocents:

eugh...maybe I should take a few more days away from trials. I'm not in a positive place apparently.

thanks for reading my ramblings.

Also, I'm shocked to learn of the Trial Diva's Split. I also find it odd and abrupt. Something hit the fan and it certainly wasn't a stiletto.

Love this post! And I agree. As much as I'd love to know that at least a few jurors wanted to give her death it'll be much better to just vote for life. This Judge won't give her life with parole so it'll be fine.

Still verdict watch?

Chelly, I just remembered it was the Drew Peterson jury that asked for that definition of "unanimous" so Arizona is off the hook for that. :floorlaugh:

Oh my! That must have been a prank or something. None of them knew was it meant? :scared:

The dumbest thing I've ever heard of in all my life is this 'Travis threatened my life AFTER I shot him.' spoken by you know who. If it isn't the most mind-numbingly stupi$ thing I've ever heard!

The time this jury is taking is frustrating, but if they get it right, in the end, that's what matters. She's been found guilty, M1, life or death, and that's in the bag.
How many cases have we seen where juries can't even get that right?

When watching the Chrisman trial, I was sure that the jurors felt a bit uncomfortable with his fellow officers in the gallery. One has to wonder if his prior unprofessional behavior with fellow officers, caused some trepidation when the jury went back to deliberate? I think I would have felt a bit intimidated.......probably a defense strategy...

He pled to manslaughter charges to avoid the re-trial of 2nd degree murder.

there must be an anal person or foreperson on this jury just like in Spector I trial. He was an engineer. Detail Details Details; in fact TOO many details and he derailed the judicial process. IN that case.

....not going to touch that with a 12 foot pole!!!! :floorlaugh:
I'm just glad the split didn't end up with neither one covering trials, they really do keep us informed about the trials they are covering.:blushing:

Agree. Sometimes they have been the only reporting network we have. Glad Jen is still tweeting.

The only reason I can "follow" this, is the weather here is crazy!!! I should be out stretching more fence line and digging post holes, but this wind just beats the heck out of me!!!
20 years ago, I could be up to my behind in snow, wind blowing, setting a double wide up on the rez, NO PROBLEM. (my carpel tunnel reminds me of it every time the temp drops drastically by 15 degrees)

Geesh, this is more like March weather, in like a lion, out like a lamb.........but the lion is still roaring!!! April showers bring May flowers......I don't think so. :banghead:

What I gathered from reading twitter is that DivaS had rights/control of website and chose to take it down Monday and said she will have new website up soon. DivaJ now has her own fb and different twitter handle. Both have only said they went their separate ways, and said nothing more.
I had just discovered them during this trial and don't know their history, so my opinion is purely objective.
I am confused as to why they didn't offer more of an explanation to their fans. The people who supported them and bought their fan gear and such deserve a little more than impersonal tweets saying basically.."we're breaking up..thanks for everything. look for us separately."
:moo:

Thanks Rhozwen, Guess we'll have to stay tuned.
Anyone also watching JS jury selection today?

Yesterday's jury question still baffles me. What on earth have they been doing during deliberations?

Do potential jurors get asked in what instances they do support the death penalty? They ought to be able to weed out those who only support it for extreme cases such as mass killings etc.

I'm watching that, this and the Dominick trial (which is an easy one to keep up with, no stream, apparently no tweeters in court, just very occasional updates so far).

Pleeease let the jury come to some kind of an agreement today, they have to be more wrecked over this lengthy spin out then we are.
