Steady (much needed) rain falling on the outside and watching Juan on the inside.....it has been a good day. See everyone tomorrow morning for the continuing cross!

I thought he looked exhausted too.

I think that he thinks if he just answers everything, "I don't know," then he won't have to commit to anything that will harm him. However, him saying, "I don't know," to the question of where Virgillo was is harmful to him. If he doesn't even know where Virgillo was, then how does he know Virgillo wasn't where he was or wasn't supposed to be? Why would he proceed into a situation without confirming his partner had his back? And if that's the case, then how can we say it's not Chrisman's fault for getting himself into a situation without making sure Virgillo was with him? For him to say, "Virgillo was not covering me, I thought I had backup," I, as a juror, would want to be sure Chrisman knew where Virgillo was and what he was or wasn't doing. For him to claim that Virgillo was not covering him when he isn't even sure of where Virgillo was is pretty bold to me.

It seems pretty obvious to me that he is using Virgillo as a scape goat. Listening to his testimony today I couldn't help but thinking that he was the one that kept escalating the situation. Even with what he was saying today, I just didn't get the feeling that he should have reasonably felt his life was in danger if he didn't shoot Rodriguez. And if he was so scared of him before walking responding to the scene, why did he attempt to grab him to make him come outside? Is that even protocol? If he refused to come out, couldn't they just go in?

:goodpost:

ITA with what you said. Isn't it funny how all of us seem to be on the same page? RC is nowhere near as heinous as CMJA. However, by trying to project everything else onto Virgillo, he IMO shot himself in the virtual foot. It will be interesting to see what the jury decides.

I also hope none of the jury buys into the idea that if a cop shot someone and said it was self defense, it must be true.

There are stories upon stories of cops abusing their position of power to commit brutality then frame the victim. They know it's their word against the bad guys and can get away with it. They have made up stories to justify their extreme sometimes necessary action.

Look up the cases of Jason Neville, Isaac Singletary, and Kelly Thomas. In the case of Nevill, a Canadian teen, the cops said that he attacked them and they were forced to use brutality. But a CCTV video at the mall caught the whole thing on tape and none of what the cops claim he did happen. The cops flat out lied and if it wasn't for the video Neville would be in prison for assault.

I believe that Chrisman went in there with a vendetta. Even he admits that he didn't see the bullets or the arrow. So it is no excuse. His story is lame and on cross he is playing dumb. Police brutality is real.

Agree Meebee, I think the same things. I also thought it was very interesting when Chrisman was describing the holds and things he was doing to Daniel to try to get hiim outside....remember that hold where he basically twisted Daniel's arm? And then he did like some bicep hold or something. And there was another one that he described. So that's THREE attempts by Chrisman to use some kind of physical action/force to "subdue" Daniel. And IIRC, that was all in the very beginning!! Basically he just went in and started attacking Daniel, at least that's the way I interpreted from his testimony. Daniel was yelling at them that they don't have a right to enter, etc., and Chrisman went in and started basically physically assaulting him. So no wonder the situation escalated. It's just like u said...Chrisman is the one who escalated it. And then no wonder, as he's got this police officer cursing and physically assaulting him (and according to Vergillo, holding a GUN to his temple), so now wonder Daniel reacted the way he did. He was probably scared for his life right there from the beginning.

Yes, it's like Virgillo magically disappears into thin air. He must be thinking, that darn Virgillo, if only he wasn't there I could just say whatever I want! Does anyone remember how long the duration of the phone call was? 'Cause even IF Virgillo was on the phone at the beginning when they made first contact (which I don't believe), he would have been off of the phone by the time all this went down.

Does the trial start at 1:30 eastern? 10:30 AZ time? Should I call abc15 again to inquire whether they will live stream? I really hope they will. It would be cruel not to give us the satisfaction of watching Juan finish his cross. IMO

It would be too cruel if they pull the plug after yesterday's extravaganza. And yes, it's 1:30 Eastern start time.
