GUILTY AZ - Fernando & Sophia Richter for imprisoning 3 daughters, Tucson, 2013

Villasenor said there were motion sensors on the doors to the girls' bedrooms and video cameras trained on their bed.

SNIP

There were locks on the girls' bedroom doors, the police chief said, but another method, which he declined to reveal, was used to keep the girls from escaping.

I hate not knowing what that method was and I know darn well I will hate knowing it when it is revealed.

Agree again, but just remember whatever it was, it did not work and they did escape, thank goodness!

And those charges are only Pima County. "9OYS has learned Fernando spit and fought with officers who showed up on the scene. That explains the new count of aggravated assault.

And that's not all, the County Attorney says a majority of the criminal activity also occurred in Pinal County, likely in a Catalina home 9OYS toured last week. Acts not covered by this indictment could be prosecuted by the Pinal County Attorney's Office. That office is still reviewing the case.

Both Fernando and Sophia are due back in court for their arraignment on December 13th."

Does Fernando still have the sex abuse charge? tia

At the end of the video (posted above), it indicates the sex abuse charge was dropped on this case by prosecutors. Interesting.

That makes it even more evil. They just hated the girls. What evil to torture them this way. Pure evil. Lock em up. If they get any type diversion program again for any of this, I'm moving out of AZ!!!! You can't fix evil. This was an evil crime. Pure torture.

On the video linked above by pieper4, the mother to me appears mad and the SF looks depressed and almost crying. Boohoo! Now you know how if feels to be confined.

Both could get 3-12 years for each charge and the evidence is overwhelming. Still hoping there will not be a trial and the girls can begin their recovery from this horrible abuse.

NOTICED THAT. I'd like to know more about why the sex abuse charge was dropped. Could it be prosecution thinks there is not enough proof?

Either that or perhaps they don't want to put children through testimony (considering there are plenty of other charges to go around).

Stockholm Syndrome? I think, the sisters in time will come out. I'm so glad they are out of that house & away from both of them. I'm not so sure they are liking being out. They might be missing their mom. (the oldest was worried about their mom right off when rescued per MSM).

Mom had chances to escape when he was held in jail. She lived 10' from the nearest house, she had a "San Diego" phone number for her cell. I do see fb pages in both their names but nothing on them. They were started at different times in the past few years.

Did he keep her drunk or drugged for two years?

Where the heck did their money come from? Did they even have water turned on when they moved to Tucson in August? Moldy water bottles were found. No showers since Sept. They drank bath water fgs. That might be something available to check.

I will be following this case. I want to know the facts. I also want to see how much anyone can face treating their children or step children like this. Heavy hammer here. Extremely heavy frigging hammer. No less.

Were they seen carrying water bottles to and from the house? They did get to use the toilet at least once or twice a day per articles. The moldy water bottles and the bathwater statements lead me to believe someone had to see them if they carried in water bottles etc..

Not sure, since it hasn't been reported, but I am guessing they were given XX amount of water per week or day. And the bottles they didn't drink got stashed in closets, etc. and grew moldy. Or were used as urine bottles. :-( The girls did mention at some point they were given bottled 'bathtub water'... so who knows.

Either way, Mom and Step-Dad need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. No more namby-pamby sentencing. Mom could have run -- probably at least 20 times a day -- to the neighbors' houses. Those homes are right on top of one another.

NO diversion. None nada. I'd have a big fit if so. Loudly.

Yeah, you can't get any closer than that group of homes other than a mobile home park in midtown. jmo

The girls deserved showers & to use a bathroom. They deserved to see daylight, hear sounds from outside, walk outside, hug each other, talk to friends, smell the air, not hear nothing at all. Go to school. They need to realize the hatred towards them and probably are or will soon enough. My hugs wrap around them all. Power to the girls.

If I ever hear of a diverson program these two fit in, I'll have a cow. Power to 3 sisters! Help them. jmo

This case gets more weird with every new bit of information. Maybe not having water connected. Drinking bath water. Yuk !! How many bottles does it take to fill a bath tub? Where did they get the water from? Did they have a hose connected to a neighbor's tap during the night and fill up the bath?

But they sure weren't drinking it. They were both under the influence of alcohol when arrested.

Does anyone think they'll get off with a plea deal and this case will never go to trial?

  • #118
Possibly the bathtub was filled with water by the adults in the house knew the utility provider was coming to turn of water service? And maybe that's part of why the girls weren't allowed to bathe, no water service, but mom and dad spent their days too drunk to give a crap.

That is what I am suspecting.

Not sure about no utilities (water)... they clearly had electric service, and water is cheaper than electric. Plus looks like they had some potted plants on the patio that were doing well. I think they were just a-holes doling out bottled water instead of actual meals/drinks... Ugh.
