ITA. If they had Gabe hidden somewhere, then why not stop the whole thing, come clean and try to minimize their "guilt" in the whole deal by saying what they have been saying: "We thought the father was abusive, we agreed to give Gabe a better home, etc."

Unless, as you said iluvmua, either Gabe went to another couple entirely, or what if someone else is holding Gabe for the Smiths right now? But if so, wouldn't THOSE people be afraid and come forward?

If I was holding Gabe from either the Smiths or another couple I would come foward and tell LE everything I know. so far no one has done that and I fear that Baby Gabe is no longer living.

If a girl or some couple just decided to hand over an eight month old baby because they did not want the child for whatever reason. I would have some SERIOUS questions.

Are we ever going to hear the jail phone calls???

I hope we hear jail phone calls.

If you watch the good morning america segment, TPS says that the extortion type comments were made in reference to what EJ said.
That if Logan signed the papers, she would come home with Gabriel and then she would sign.
The Smiths allegedly tried to make it clear that this would only be to get Gabriel back, as if it was done under duress, it isn't legally binding.

She still isn't right. Did anyone notice her running off at the mouth, and having to ask the reporter what the question was? She's in her own world.

It also, by TPS's statements, was not a guardianship as she earlier said, just babysitting for a few days.

~sigh.

Why do all the stories the Smith's are telling sound not quite right. I think that's a clue to lying - people make slips and do not follow normal protocal Why would Tammi be the envoy to tell the dad what he has to do to see Gabriel again. Who would even pass this info on in this way even if it is what Elizabeth said. Sorry, I'm not being very eloquent here, but the result of that conversation would be .... signing away custody to the other parent who is crazy. The kid would not benefit by this, the dad would look bad, the Smith's might be able to come in later and get custody?

Thanks BeanE for posting this link.
I just got done watching and am about to watch it again. My first impression of TS and JS was JS seemed very fidgety (sp?). I know when people are guilty or at least know more than they are saying often fidget.

Did anyone else notice that? What are your opinions about it? Am I reading too much into it?
IMO, He looks very nervous. His hands are almost wringing, if you know what I mean.
TS does not seem at all worried about the baby.

I fear the same, but I do hope and pray he is not.

I haven't had the chance to watch the GMA video (shh, I'm at work and I can't right now) but that sounds really fishy to me that Mrs. Smith is giggling and enjoying her 15 minutes rather than being worried sick about a baby that she supposedly had living in her home for a few weeks.

Why isn't she crying and upset and begging for the "adoptive parents" to come forward? Like pghbrandi said...she seems too calm. I bet she does know where Gabe is.

This really does sound like Susan Baker Part Deux.

There is a Cheryl that is friends with TPS-she works at a church in Phoenix-Christs church of the valley. I read on here someone mentioned that church's can help with an underground situation...Could this be a link or am i grasping for straws again hoping baby Gabe is still alive?!

Still praying for you little Gabe!!

So, it looks like the Smith's got temporary custody by Elizabeth signing over POA to them?! Oh, come on, this is something the Smith's cooked up to bypass the dad. Twisted.... they knew darn well the child had a father who was not going to go along with the adoption. It reminds me of the saying "Possession is nine tenths of the law". I think they figured if they had him long enough the argument to allow them to adopt the kid would be greater. Add some trumped up accusations against the father (haven't we already heard some of this from Ms. Tammifay in the media?). Protect yourself just in case with some silly POA document so that you can't be held accountable (it also serves as proof the mom was totally against the dad having his own child). I think they thought the real dad was just going to go away.

In the case of baby Shannon (the baby in the box) the birth mother Tina was unconcerned and nonchalant from the start...in fact the LE at first thought it was a Halloween prank
she never showed a bit of concern or fear or anything
the "father?" Rusty was really upset and worried but Tina wasn't...of course we now know that Tina knew where her baby was, since she apparently went out and gave her away

the lack of concern from TPS and the biomom MIGHT be a good sign...we might have another miracle

I do think this is ONE case where national news might be a huge help since it spans 3 states, and since sweet Baby Gabriel might be anywhere IF there is an "underground adoption ring" or whatever

I still would like to see TPS arrested for something/anything...I think she holds a lot of answers here...

I hope this ends up like Shannon rather than Trenton...I pray that it does

I wonder if they knew that LM's dad, Gabriel's grandfather was a LE officer? Maybe EJ neglected to tell them that? :waitasec:

And, as an afterthought, the bubble bath pics she has up of the teens are just inappropriate for myspace, also IMO.

Do you mean to say she actually has pictures of teenagers taking bubble baths on her myspace? And she doesn't see a problem with that? Yikes.

Well, they are in their (tiny) bathing suits. If that makes it any better.

Cheryl (my name LOL)...was the 6th most popular name for girls in the 1950's..

Cheryl (*or the many variations..Sheryl, Sheri, Sherry, Sharon, Cheri etc)...Debbie...and Linda...

I think the name got popular due to big movie star Lana Turner naming her daughter this (then) unusual name in the late 40's....then in the 50's it was everywhere

Cheryl Turner killed her Mom's(gangster) lover with a knife when he was fighting with/abusing Lana...she was 14...and this was a HUGE scandal back then...I can ONLY imagine how the internet would have had a field day with it, but it was way before that but still everyone was fired up about it

the name fell out of popularity then

but my point is...there are a gazillion "Baby Boomer" women named Cheryl or variations of that name

It is not an unusual name at all, not for my generation...not like "Zenaida Gonzalez" :) JMO

Speaking of those adult children, does anyone know where they live? Texas by chance? Has LE checked out whether the Smiths were at home for Christmas or if they "travelled" to see her other children?

On a more somber note...has anyone heard if LE are checking landfills?

No, not really. When I was that age you wouldn't catch me dead in a picture if I was taking a bath.

"What she is telling us is that she met a family, a Caucasian man and woman with no child -- young," Tammi Smith told "Good Morning America."
"And she met them in the park. And she was crying and distraught and they came up to her and said, 'How can we help you?'"
When pressed for details about the couple, Smith said Johnson didn't remember much despite having spent three days with them, just that the woman's first name was "Cheryl." Tammi Smith said Johnson told her she purposely tried not to focus on their car or last names so she wouldn't be tempted to change her mind and get her son back.

"She believed she was doing a closed adoption," Tammi Smith said.

i find it really telling that Tammi Smith is acting as the spokesperson in the case, for the mom. Why is she even going to the media and granting interviews at all? And why is she telling the story of the couple in the park as if it were true.

Does anyone know if Tami and Elizabeth are having confidential communications through a lawyer or because a lawyer is present? I'm not familiar enough with Florida Sunshine Laws to know if this isn't possible. I do know in most cases that someone in prison can have both confidential mail and phone calls if it is through their lawyer - and, it appears to me the Smith's are probably providing her legal counsel.
