
Human Remains Found by Construction Crew During Road-Widening Project: ‘Shocking’
A construction crew found human remains in the Arizona town of Marana while working on a road-widening project on June 12, 2025. The remains were found on formerly private property and have been there for over 20 years, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

While working on a road-widening project on the corner of Twin Peaks Road and Silverbell Road in Marana, Ariz., a road construction crew located human remains on Thursday, June 12, according to local outlets KOLD, KGUN and KVOA.
The crew was doing excavation work when they made the discovery, which was on formerly private land recently acquired by the town of Marana, according to KOLD, a CBS affiliate, and KGUN, an ABC affiliate.
After locating what they believed to be possible human remains, the crew notified the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD), and deputies with the department’s Tucson Mountain District confirmed the finding, per KGUN. The scene of the discovery was subsequently secured.
