Thank you for recording this video, Patty

They weren't compensated for the interview. He had some awesome footage of Isabel.
They're scared, they don't know if she's safe, if she's being fed, if she's scared.

If they say something that endangers the investigation, oh no, she was already taken, they don't want to screw anything else up. Please keep praying, they need it. Some people who have never prayed before are praying for Isabel. Keep your eyes open for Isabel.

Maybe they were never taught how to pray the rosary, but they recognize it as a physical manifestation of prayer. So they wear it. Maybe they have a special devotion to Mary.

It seems incredibly mean spirited to say they are just doing it for show, or statement. We know they are members of their parish, they are practicing somewhat. They are grasping for things related to their faith in a terrible time.

Love all the judging about people's religious practice. Ironic. Or maybe not. :ohoh:

Well, right now I can't do anything with it because YouTube is having issues with uploading over 15 minutes. :(

So they HAD to have a cleaner in. This was good that the parents explained why they had the house cleaned. It make perfect sense now.

What difference does it make if it makes them feel better? Someone very special may have given them to them. The priest may have blessed them. But, again what difference?

The Rosary is not jewelry. Blessed by a priest or not. People of the Catholic faith know this. It is important to me as a Catholic. I find it offensive and disrespectful. I really don't care if it makes them feel better. And, it probably has nothing to do with Isabel missing. The difference it makes for me is that by doing so, wearing the Rosary like jewelry, causes me to believe there is manipulation going on....

IMO only

I am watching, and listening, and I am not feeling good about them, that is my opinion. I would need to be with my child's things... in the home she was taken from so she could come home to me... us... her things. I would want to sleep in her bed. I wouldn't be AFRAID of someone... I would want to kill them with my bare hands. Becky made a comment VERY similar to KC Anthony about not crying every 5 seconds or 5 minutes (paraphrased) and that she is a private person and cries (or shows her emotions) in private. Something just went off inside for me when she was talking. That is fine when you are talking about everyday emotional occurrences- not under the circumstances of your baby girl being missing or worse! Now Becky just said (listening while I'm typing) that Isa is a "homebody" and loved to be at home but they aren't at home for her? Why do they only ask for prayers for her? Not saying bring her home! Look for her, tell your friends... help US BRING HER HOME! Nope... pray for her. I would be begging... please find Isabelle and bring her home! I don't like it... something isn't right and that is how I feel. I have much more but that is what I will say for now...

They have offered to have LE tap their phones in case of strange phone calls, they haven't got any but aren't always answering the phones, answering machine gets that but if there is anything suspicious it's straight to LE.

ITA, whatever brings them some comfort. Customs differ in different cultures and different places.

Don't know about other cultures but we were taught never to wear the rosary around our necks, however I was given a rosary bracelet for my First Holy Communion back in the 50's and did wear that on occcasion..JMHO

So sorry, this offends you.

After watching today's interview, it's my opinion that these parents have no connection to their daughter's disappearance. Even if a relative ends up being arrested or implicated, I think it would come as a surprise to them.

You don't care if it makes them feel better?

Wow, nice attitude. :what:

This attitude is a good example of why so many of us Catholics lapse. :innocent:

What's funny though, is that not even the most traditionalist priest would be as judgemental about this as some of the folks in this thread are being.

BBM
ITA :banghead: Don't care if it makes them feel better? Follow the rules no matter what. I thought religion was supposed to teach some sort of kindness and charity for fellow human beings?

Why can't they say who called 911? I can't think of any logical reason why that would be important to not share.

I suppose the issue is whether or not the "intruder" KNEW the camera wasn't working. If they did, there would be no incentive for them to redirect the camera angle to avoid detection. If they did not KNOW if it worked or not, OR if they believed it DID work they would not want it to capture their image.

Some people buy window stickers that say their home is protected by cameras when it isn't, or cheap "phony cameras" that you mount where they are visible that use a battery to power a little red LED to deter intruders/vandals... if their camera once worked, then they may have had warning stickers on the windows that were not removed when the camera stopped working. THIS IS PURE SPECULATION... I DO NOT HAVE ANY IDEA WHETHER THEY HAD STICKERS, however they had a fairly visible camera, which (IMO) precluded the need.

The media did not notice this camera until yesterday. Why do we assume an intruder, at night, would have?
1st BBM: That MIGHT be the case, however, as I previously stated, the Rosary is NOT to be worn as a piece of jewelry around the neck is pretty standard across the board ...

2nd BBM: What a person thinks is "appropriate" does NOT make it right or "acceptable" ...

And it really set off my radar when I saw the parents with the Rosary around their necks ... it is like they are trying to make a "statement" that they are "religious" ...

I would like to know IF -- IF there are any other PREVIOUS photos of the Celis with the Rosary around their necks ...

OR ... are they now wearing the Rosary SINCE Isabel was reported "missing" ...

:moo::moo::moo:

We did discuss this at length. Someone posted on the official church stance. I was taught it is not proper to wear it around one's neck but the church apparently does not hold that stance anymore. Many church communities find this to be acceptable, not as jewelery, but if worn in a reverent manner and in my experience, many Hispanics due wear the rosary as a sign of reverence:
“Also, wearing a sacred object is not the same as using it in a secular or inappropriate manner. In fact, many religious congregations wear the rosary as part of their habit, usually hanging from a belt. I think that the key to answering this question can be found in St. Paul: ‘So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God’ (1 Corinthians 10:31). In other words, there should be no indifferent or irrelevant actions in the life of a Christian.
“If the reason for wearing a rosary is as a statement of faith, as a reminder to pray it, or some similar reason ‘to the glory of God,’ then there is nothing to object to.
ctscatholiccompass.org/features/youth/wearing-rosaries-should-it-be-done/

That the fact that parents have been wearing the rosary around their necks at such a horrible time in their lives may be seen as some indication of their insincerity or guilt or phoniness, leaves me at a loss for words. Goodness gracious.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've maintained from the beginning I believe they are innocent, but even more so now.

After watching this i have no doubt mom had anything to do with Isa missing. Dad well the only reason i havent yet is because someone said on here that someone else closed their eyes when talking and was guilty of a kidnapping. Just can't remember that persons name or case that was talked about. But other than that they seem to have been a happy family who are wanting their daughter back.

I live in So. Calif. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school til the 9th grade. I don't believe in wearing the Rosary as Jewelry either but I see it all the time here. I see them around necks and hanging from the rear view mirrors all the time. There is a large Hispanic population in my area, they are the people that tend to wear them around their necks. I don't think they mean to be disrespectful since they are normally Sunday Church goers. I think it's a cultural thing like others are saying.
