Christopher Clements gave information on Isabel Celis, and, in exchange, prosecutors dismissed at least one burglary case, according to an alleged burglary victim’s attorney.
Isabel Celis was reported missing in April 2012.
The FBI received a tip that Clements had information about Celis. Detectives found her in March 2017.
Prosecutors moved to dismiss 2 burglary charges against Clements on March 30, 2017.
An alleged victim's attorney in one of the cases, Paul Charlton, said the prosecutor told his client the office wanted to drop the charges. In exchange, detectives would receive information on a child’s homicide. The client agreed with dropping the charge. The client did not know it was related to Celis at the time.
Clements
was indicted on charges of kidnapping and murdering Isabel Celis, 6, and Maribel Gonzales, 13, last Friday.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on September 24th.
